If the Start Linking process is started within a minute or two for most devices after the battery power device is placed in linking mode, then the linking process is completed before four minutes elapses.
-
But the "Query All" occurred after the garage door opened.
-
You can add battery powered devices without the Insteon ID. Select Start Linking, press and hold the set button (see Step 1), continue.
-
That's very strange. Like some other posters, I've had both success and failure with "light." Try "family normal" as a <spoken_name>. BTW, after re-trying "light" for a few devices a few times, it took. Now "light" works every time.

With Connected Home, you no longer need to tell Alexa to as Izzy to do something (except for a few tasks). Just ask Alexa to turn a (spoken_name) scene or device on or off. If the (spoken-name) is a device, then you can also dim or brighten using an oral command, for example, "Alexa, set the (spoken_name) to 80%."

I have relatively new Sylvania and Cree 75 w equivalent, A19 form factor and Sylvania 100 w equivalent, A21 form factor that don't flicker at low levels when dimmed using SwitchLinc 2477D controllers. The Sylvania LEDs are more costly, but like you, it's more important to me that they work.
-
That's not unusual. I have a button for each garage door that's a responder to the sensor (a controller) and is a controller of the relay (a responder), both in the same scene. The controller (sensor) lights the button's LED when the garage door is not fully closed and turns off the LED when the garage door is fully closed. The button also operates the garage door (relay).
-
Each of the device you mention should be powered by its own circuit breaker. Turn off a specific breaker to eliminate that device as a source of communication problems. Each test should only take a few minutes. Warm it up before turning off the furnace
-
If you have specific communication issues, then removing a noisy device will alleviate the problem. Otherwise, you'd need some sophisticated testing instruments such as an oscilloscope.
-
Level 3 refers to Tools > Diagnostics > Event Viewer, not the log. Yes, the sensor is a controller (and responder) and the relay is a responder only.
-
You are correct. Once that's done, there is no longer a need for the beacon/4-tap test.

How did the electrician bridge the opposite legs of the split, single-phase electric supply? A 2406H?
-
The first pair should be located as close to the panel as possible. Additional dual-band devices serve to increase the range and reliability of the Insteon network.
-
If you click the swirling arrows (to the right of the light bulb-Start Linking), then you can simply place the battery powered device in linking mode and the ISY will find it. Insteon ID not required.
-
GremLincs. They're somewhat different in that they always travel in groups of two, hence dual-band GremLincs
-
I was using the Hub in conjunction with the ISY, but now that the ISY works with Echo the Hub is retired,
-
I agree. Go with Cree. I'm using some Philips A19 110W equivalent that blink occasionally at lower dim levels. Fortunately, they're in a frosted glass kitchen ceiling fixture, so I replaced one of the four LED bulbs with a blue coated halogen bulb. You can still tell the difference at lower levels, but people rarely stare at the ceiling light and at full brightness the difference is imperceptible.
-
I have several disabled program that run only when called from another program. That's the reason I've disabled them.
-
My indication was that, according to the log, the garage doors--both--opened seconds after the nightly query began each time, about 3 or 4 instances. The garage doors haven't unexpectedly opened any other time.
-
If the power supply is not meant the be dimmed, then do not use a dimmer at all. The reason is that TRIACs clip the waveform even at full on. The result is that at worst, you will destroy the dimmer, the transformer or both and at best, you will shorten the life of one or both.
-
The first program will not notify you at all--ever. After 1 minute the Notify program will run. In particular, if motion is detected, then the first program waits a minute and the second program runs and checks for motion again after 1 minute has elapsed. If motion is detected a second time after 1 minute has passed, then you'll be notified. If there's no motion after 1 minute, the If section of the Notify program will be false and no notification is sent.
