Do you mean that the problem followed the In-LineLinc or the location. If the former, then the device is defective.

Thanks, Techman. That solves the PSU mystery. Any clues about OTN? And I wonder how Avast found it. Here's the update link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html

Are there older single-band In-LineLincs?

Interesting. I browsed to the Java site and also found .65. But, I mostly update only when I receive a notice, usually from Java. This time the notice was from Avast (antivirus). I just found this page: Jave Releases which shows .66. I have no idea what PSU (OTN) means.

Info only: The latest Java (as of 10/21/15) is update .66.

Having to use an encryption code that requires a series of distinct different button presses defeats the convenience of remote control

I'd like to know if what you suggest actually functions as claimed. Will you post back after installation? Detailing what you did will help, including any tips.

Each device that is not wired to a load requires a scene or program to function (control one or more different devices). Scenes write the links directly to the devices, are nearly instantaneous, require a minimal amount of ISY resources (none at all for the devices to function), and will work even if the ISY is removed. Programs are slower, use more of the limited ISY resources than scenes and will not work if the iSY isn't working. Scenes cannot respond to conditions, only programs can. Program can run and even modify scenes.

Even with several times daily use, the Mini Remote should last at least a couple of months before needing a recharge. There is no warning that a recharge is pending.

I don't know what's misleading about "Connect to an INSTEON Wireless Thermostat to externally monitor temperature". You can monitor the exterior temperature on the Insteon wireless thermostat. As with all advertising, don't assume it can do more than what's stated. BTW, I've been fooled, too. That's why I thoroughly read Owner's Manuals now and ask question when I can--before purchasing a product

The external probe for the wireless Insteon thermostat (2441THZ) does not report the temperature except to the screen of the thermostat. In order for the ISY to respond to the probe, the internal sensor has to be de-soldered and the probe soldered in its place.

The Mini Remote uses a Micro USB connection, not a Mini USB.

I have no idea which garage door opener with CR2032 batteries you are referring to.

ACT is not going out of business nor retiring the AF120. Lucky you

Sure. Link a button on the Mini Remote as a controller of the I/O Linc.

Try moving the RemoteLinc somewhat distant from the PLM, but near a dual-band device, place it in linking mode and then, updating. I had to be nearly 40' from the PLM.

A network switch doesn't put anything on the powerline. OTOH, a UPS is a signal sucker, just doing its job keeping the powerline clean for the devices it powers when power is doing. In doing so, it considers Insteon signals as contamination. Also, think about what may be powered during the night, especially when you leave for work, but otherwise is off.

It doesn't take long to test. Try remotely controlling one device, on and off separated by about 5-10 seconds apart, about 10 or more times. Note the results. Then, turn off the breakers and repeat. That'll take less than 5 minutes including walking time, less if you have an assistant. Troubleshooting is rarely easy, but the results are gratifying

Just installing FilterLincs is a terrible waste of $$$. Appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, washer, dryers are unlikely to affect the Insteon signal. Start by turning off all circuit breakers except those that power the ISY, PLM and one of the two long runs. If the signal improves, then the problem device is on another circuit. If the signal does not improve, then the problem device is on one of the energized circuits. Then, try again with the other long distance run. What did you find?

A relay responder can respond only to off and on no matter if the controller is a dimmer or a relay. Either a dimmer or relay controller is capable of sending brighten and dim commands to a dimmer. A relay controller can even send a fast on to a dimmer (i.e., double tap).

I did tighten wire nuts between my knuckles. As my fingers wore out and time wore on I switched to using linesman pliers

Synchrolinc Help (Request Failed) when clicking "Options"

Does it include the second person? -
That's really good news

Requiring a program instead of using a scene is a band-aid at best, in addition to introducing a delay between pressing a button and seeing a response. A program should not be needed. If the Mini Remote button cannot be added to a scene as a controller, then something is amiss. I'm currently using several Mini Remote buttonss as scene controllers. Set the Event Viewer to Level 3, attempt to add a Mini Remote button as a controller of a scene and post the Event Viewer log. BTW, you did add the Mini Remote to the ISY first, correct?

The 2412 will power the ISY, no external power supply needed. Try it.
