  1. You don't need multiple portals for up to 5 accounts. If you want/need more than 5 accounts, then you need additional portals, one for each 5 accounts. You need to add devices, scenes and/or programs and spokens separately for each account. You can add both the same and different devices, scenes and/or programs for each account. For example, our kitchen light is in multiple accounts, each with the same spoken. The living room light is in multiple lights, but it's called "light" in the living room account and "living room light" in the other accounts. The bedroom light is called "light" in the bedroom account and "bedroom light" in other accounts. You get the idea I currently have: 3 Echos 9 Dots 4 accounts 1 portal
  2. Harmony Ultimate One or Harmony Ultimate Home or Harmony Companion/Home Control
  3. The ISY normally shuts down after replacing a device. When restarted, you will no longer "see" the new device because it has taken all the characteristics of the old device; links, name and all. The only difference is that the Insteon ID will be that of the new device.
  4. Can you be more specific about you goal? Do you mean various lights depending on your away from home location or certain lights when you're near home.
  5. The Alexa app can recognize most names we give to devices. I'd like the app to recognize a wake name of my choosing. (Also posted on the Echo forum.)
  6. Not exactly. The device only needs to be activated while updates are pending. You can also create a program to do it. BR Courtyard Sensor (Open/Close Sensor) If Control 'BR / Devices / BR Courtyard-Opened' is switched On Then Set 'BR / Devices / BR Courtyard-Opened' Write Device Updates Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') EX Side Door Sensor (Motion Sensor) If Control 'EX / Devices / EX Side Door-Sensor' is switched On Then Set 'EX / Devices / EX Side Door-Sensor' Write Device Updates Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  7. Right click on the device for a bunch of options
  8. You don't need a separate timer, just use the ISY to schedule on and off times. A Mini Remote, KPL or any other Insteon controller will allow manual control.
  9. It doesn't matter as long as you put the ISY in linking mode before the device times out, usually within 4 minutes. But, there's no opportunity to enter and address if you put the device in linking mode first and select Start Linking (rotating arrows icon). And if you select New INSTEON Device (light bulb icon), then you should not put the device into linking mode at all.
  10. Amazon has added "Computer" as a wake word. Don't mention computer near an Echo or Dot if you use the new wake word
  11. Connect the sense wire of a Micro Module to line. Create a program that is triggered by the status of the Micro Module.
  12. Why do you have the ISY on a UPS? There's noting to control if power goes down. And you disable powerline signaling. And what do you do if you get a message that you lost power? Not disagreeing, just curious.
  13. Configuration, System window, do you have Query at restart checked?
  14. If he never logged on, which password did he lose? Did you change it before you sold the house?
  15. Larry, I have no difficulty with "a c" in lower case (although I believe that doesn't matter) with no periods (that matters). Radios station call letters bring up the station on the Alexa device, so you'll need to give the station a unique name. I found that "alternative" and "oldies" are also reserved, but names like "tunes 1" and tunes 2" do work. Also, Alexa sometimes has problems here with one word spokens such as "light" even though each account has only one spoken called "light."
  16. Create a scene with all the device you want turned off the a level of Off. If you want a few lights on when you leave, then set those to the appropriate On-level. The voice command is, "turn Dine Out on," and can be initiated by voice or a KPL button. The program also turns on the walkway lights and turns them off 4 minutes later. Dine Out Front Door If Control 'LR / Devices / LR Ceiling Light KPL 20 / LR Light KPLD Dine Out' is switched On Then Set Scene 'EX / Scenes / EX Walkway' On Set Scene 'House / Dine Out' On Wait 4 minutes Set Scene 'EX / Scenes / EX Walkway' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') You can create a similar program to turn on mood lights when you return.
  17. There's a new Harmony Alexa (red) skill that allows pause, play and stop. Also volume can be raised and lowered. But, you have to tell Alexa to ask Harmony to perform the task. The old (blue) skill should be left in place for voice commands that you don't want to ask Harmony first (i.e, turn on or off).
  18. The fixture may be unwieldy, but exterior boxes usually don't have a lot of wires. There should be no problem fitting a Micro Module into the wall/ceiling box.
  19. No. The bulb can be a responder only. As such, the bulb cannot trigger a program.
  20. If you add this statement to Else: Send Notification to 'Ray' content 'Garage Lights OFF' then you'll also be notified when the light is turned off.
  21. Create a program to control the lock and add the program to the portal (and Alexa app). Keep in mind the risk of using voice control for a lock.
  22. The protal is a bit complex to set up. but it's a pleasure to use and can run programs, too. And lots of help setting up the portal is available on this forum. Start here: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/18015-amazon-echo-isy-step-by-step/?hl=portal
  23. I don't disagree that you may have experienced difficulties with the SynchroLinc, but my v.30 SynhcroLincs can be set to 1,800 watts from the ISY. That's more than 10A @ 120V. I haven't tried connecting a pump and I do care if anything doesn't work as expected.
  24. I have several SynchroLincs. Go through the installation procedure as instructed in the Owner's Manual first. After ensuring that the SynchroLinc is working correctly (red LED=off, green LED=on), then add the SynchroLinc to the ISY. Make note of the three settings so you won't need to go through the setup procedure in the event you need to replace the device (or you reset it).
  25. The plug-in SignaLincs have a set button (and a black external antenna). The wire-in SignaLinc does not. Which are you referring to?
