Hi, My setup has been working well for - years. I am having all sorts of communication problems & I cant figure out why. I replaced my PLM, moved everything around & I am still having issues. Some of the switches seem to be flashing often (communication traffic i think). I have done a restore PLM, Restore Devices, all sorts of stuff. Can someone help me start a good process to see what the heck is going on? Should I turn off breakers? I am really confused on what has changed. I have UPS's with filterlincs, filters everywhere - a TON of devices (maybe to many). Help!! Thanks, Rich

I will have to look at what I am using but i have a spare PLM - its as simple as plugging in the new PLM & then File / Restore PLM to rebuild?

Hi - thanks i did try it with the PLM/ISY off & it still did it. I then did a reset & it seems to be having issues reprogramming. I am wondering if it is the PLM. I have a spare new in teh box - maybe I should swap that in?

Hi, I have a switchlinc dimmer & it is part of a scene (basement 3 way) previously when I would press the 'main' button all lights in the basement would turn on (4 different lights). Now when I press the button, 3 lights come on & the 4th turns on for 1 second, then shuts off. When I walk to the actual switch with the load & press the switchlinc dimmer, it does the same thing. Any ideas why or what to check? This might be v4 to v5 related. Thanks, Rich

Hi, So I have to many links & am running into communications issues where i didnt have any previously. I have a number of keypads that have keys doing nothing (not part of scenes, linked, etc). If I have a 8 button keypad & am only using two buttons: Keypad A, B are used, C,D,E,F,G,H are not doing anything - if i remove C-H will that lower my links by 6? Additionally, if i have a triggerlinc where I am not using Closed, but only Open, can i remove the closed ones to save links? Same with motion - if i dont need dusk,dawn - etc & on - Any thoughts on what to do? Things work working OK, I counted links saw it was at 930, then i did a restore PLM & a lot of stuff that did work doesnt work. I did upgrade from an older V4 to 5.0.168. Not sure if that has something to do with it. Thanks, Rich

Hi I am ok having my isy internal lan IP given access to a specific IP and specific port or ports on that op but I do not want it to have open access to go wherever it wants. So I have a PBX on a different vlan, the whole network has no external access except the one Ip of the PBX. It is allowed to go to flowroute.com on ports 5040-5080. That is the firewall rules, that's all it needs to do its job, that's as far as it can get. The ISY should be able to go-to mail.richtj.com port 465 in order to send mail. The ISY should be able to to visit www.where.com ports ???? The ISY doesn't need access to msn.com, Yahoo.com, etc. I am really just looking to find out what I specifically need to give it Access to in order to add my alexa ( which is on yet another vlan). Hi - yes i am blocking all outbound/inbound internet access to the vlan - I would like to give the ISY access to - the portal? Not sure what i need port wise to open up for the ISY to 'talk' to the portal/alexa.

Hi, Sorry I think i am not being clear in what i am asking. I had some network security issues & am looking to give IOT devices (such as ISY) very limited access to the internet & then a specific address would be allowed. It sounds like Alexa doesnt talk to the ISY directly - does the ISY talk to the portal, and Alexa talks to the portal - the portal is the one commuicating commands? Further - my question is - if I say "Alexa - turn on the kitchen lights" Does Alexa goto https://my.isy.io/index.htm, login, and look for an update? In that case - if i give the ISY access to only the domain my.isy.io on only port 443 or 80, would that allow enough internet access for the ISY to communicate with the portal / alexa? I am assuming that https://my.isy.io does not need ports 1-65000 opened?

Sorry - maybe i mispoke then - what ports would i need to open to allow the ISY to talk to the portal? Ideally if i could have it be http://www.ISYPORTAL.com port 443 that would be ideal.

Hi, I do not allow my ISY to have internet access on my network at this point. I did at one point & had the ISY / Alexa working - it was great. I would like to set it up again but I would like to set it up so the ISY has very limited internet access. What ports would need to be opened to allow ISY to talk to Alexa? Thanks, Rich

Hi, I am trying to log into my ISY on a 'secure' - non internet network. Each time i open the start.jnlp it opens the window, sees my ISY, then i click & have an option of dashboard or admin - neither do anything though. Do I need to be online? Thanks, Rich

Hi, I am having an issue today where all my lights & devices are powering on randomly. I have a log & it doesnt look like the ISY is even registering all the lights turning on. The ISY admin console doesnt show the lights on all over the place. Is my PLM ready to be swapped out? I have a spare on ready - if so is that just a "restore PLM"? I forgot how to do that. Can you downgrade back to 4.7.3 if 5.0.15a doesnt work properly?

I am a little confused - I am only using Alexa as the 'control' - no other way to initiate the shades. My wife is already complaining that it looks like something the father from gremlins would have made. Can I skip the 'control' if portion?

I want it that if you turn this program on or off, it turns itself on, waits 1 min, then shuts off. Thanks, Rich

Hi, I purchased a "add a motor" - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N8T8OLQ/ from amazon. The idea is to motorize my shades - with the ultimate goal of "Alexa open the shades" or "Alexa close the shades". The device is hooked up & working. The plug says in the device, when power is given it rotates one way, then I pull the plug, and plug it back it, then the device runs the other way. While it is a little ghettofabulous looking it does work (or at least for half a day). I would like to have the ISY turn the device on for say, 1 minute, then shut it off. So the next time I use the device it will reverse itself & power off. Ideal behavior Alexa turn on the shades, appliance link turns on for 1 minute, then turns off. Alexa Turn off the shades - appliance link turns on for 1 minute, then turns off. Any ideas the best way to do this? What are others doing? Thanks, Rich

I am curious - if i wanted a button to do the same thing - i could duplicate the program (which I did). I have it If control keypad A is on Then Else Off doesnt seem to run else. Pressing A runs the "Then" (when its lighted), pressing "A" again to turn it off doesnt do anything? Thanks, Rich

Hi, So i have been playing with Echo for my mom (thanks guys!) and figured i would update my stuff too. I deleted V1, added V2, hit discover & all my scenes (8 of them) are showing up as 28 devices in the alexa app - all as devices (I have no devices - just scenes). I did a forget all & discover but it keeps bringing them back. I just added an "office" scene which resulted in 2 discovered devices within Alexa. Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks, Rich

Hi, I am trying to use a program for Echo. Living Room Program: Turn Light 1 - Fast On Turn Light 2 - Fast off Is there a way for me to use a single program to alter the lights state? So if the light is off, saying turn on will run the program, or if the light is off, turning the program off will run the program (changing the lights to the opposite state)? Basically I am running out of links on my PLM so I am trying to get rid of a scene - plus the devices seem to work for fast on only (different issue). Thanks, Rich
