I think that @lilyoyo1 answer is complete, but just to make sure : "Polisy currently is an add on for the ISY Device? " Yes. Right now it is an alternative to having Polyglot on a RPi. " eventually, it might be the replacement? " ISY Replacement and enhancement of Polyglot. Some time, probably sooner than later, we will be able to run ISY on Polisy, though I believe that (for time being) the stand alone ISY will remain functional. In other words, you will not be forced to get a Polisy. However I also understand that the next version of Polyglot will no longer work on a RPi, so if you want to use nodeservers (and you really should) Polisy will be needed. " I don't understand the purpose of polisy " Think of color tv vs b&w tv. When color tv's arrived, you could still watch your programs on your old b&w tv, but you got a lot more pleasure out of the color tv. Nowadays, I don't think that b&w tv's exist anymore. The same with Polisy.... It is a lot more powerful device that will allow UD to bring us future enhancements to our home automation. New users of ISY should go straight to Polisy and eventually existing ISY users will make the same move.
  2. Your wish is (almost) my command
  3. (1) I have responded to your private message with example of "speed" programs. (2) As I said before, my 4 fan control switches have been in place for a long time and none may be Zwave Plus, so I just use the basic switch. I have not looked (yet) at what a newer Zwave Plus fan control switch would let me do different.
  4. I have no problems here as my fan control switches properly report status to my ISY, even the older non Plus switches. This may be because of my extensive Zwave mesh network.
  5. Manual control works, as @lilyoyo1says, like a dimmer, which indeed is not optimum because you may press too long or not long enough. A switch that gives a click for each speed or with good visual (light) display, would be great.
  6. I think that I explained this i n my previous post.
  7. I can give you a partial answer and tell you what I did myself. In fact some of my 4 wave fan control switches are several years old and not Zwave Plus. I am also not sure that my setup is the best and maybe I can learn something from what others may post here. In my case I determined that low speed is 33%, mid speed 67% and max (of course) 100 %. I created programs whereby any speed I select between 1 and 33 % goes to 33; any speed between 34 and 67 goes to 67 %; and any speed above 67% goes to 100%. This may not even be necessary, but optically in my Administrative Console any selection will show the right speed. Furthermore, in Google Home (and most likely Alexa as well) I can just instruct the fans to go low, medium or high.
  8. You may want to have a look at this. My experience with (many) Inovelli devices is that they are innovative but with inconsistent performance.
  9. Yes, but add Neutral wherever possible. Sometimes electricians only put line and load to switches and that can make automation more complicated.
  10. It may disqualify you for the Olympics ?

    ?
  13. I don't have Insteon (only Zwave and some wifi plugs (thru nodeservers). If I add ISY to Polisy, will I have a full copy of my existing ISY or, as you seem to indicate, it would be a different and empty ISY ?
  14. asbril replied to vbPhil's topic in Geek Batch
I understand your comment but those of us following the Polisy developments, since it first was brought to our attention in this forum, were well aware of this.
  15. If I do the ISY @ Polisy update, will I still be able to access ISY the old fashioned way and will I have to change my UD Mobile and Home Assistant settings ?
  16. asbril replied to vbPhil's topic in Geek Batch
Au contraire......, you are smart to have purchased the Pro as the Wifi & Bluetooth capabilities will become functional and you would feel "gypped" (whatever that means ?) not having these capabilities.
  17. asbril replied to vbPhil's topic in Geek Batch
Why do you ask the same questions in 2 different posts ?
  18. asbril replied to vbPhil's topic in UD Portal
    (1) Posting your questions here seems ok (2) To the best of my knowledge Wifi & Bluetooth are for future expansion (3) I am not sure about moving Polyglot Cloud to LAN, though most, if not all, Cloud nodeservers also exist on local. You should be able to export from Cloud and import on Polisy. (4) Right now Polisy seems to be "limited" to Polyglot/Nodeservers, though the word "limited" seems out of place to me as Polyglot/Nodeservers are a major addition to ISY, and what more would you want ? Soon, I think, ISY will work directly on Polisy with no further need for the ISY box. (5) The extra network connectors are for future expansion. Maybe they also work as an ethernet hub, though I have not tried that myself.
  19. Depending your tech level (mine is low) you may need some help with the setup. You can find that assistance here, but UDI also has superb customer support.
  20. Polisy is almost the best thing since sliced bread

Wow.... that did the trick and I should have thought of that. Thanks to you both

I I was able to open port 443 and checked that it is indeed open, but when entering my home IP http://XXX.XXX.XX.XX:443, it does not work. I will have the check, when I am back home, if the port was changed, though I doubt it.

I am currently out of town ant would like to access my Polisy but realized that I did not open the relevant port on my router. With my Google Wifi router I can access and configure the port settings remotely, but I saw that no Port shows for Polisy, only the 192.168.XX.XXX. Does anyone know how to find the Polisy Port, so that I can open it ?
  24. Home Assistant works on your computer (and on your phone) but it requires a RPi. Because I get error messages in the AC, I use HA to check status and switch ON/OFF my devices. I also believe that UDI will come up with further innovations to make control more user friendly.
  25. Have you considered the new UDI Mobile App on your phone, or Home Assistant, which allows you observe and control your devices in your browser ?
