  1. Zwave on Polisy is in final development and should happen soon. Eventually (probably not soon) ISY will become EOL. Polisy is the way forward and once you have experienced Polyglot, you'll wonder why you did not go there sooner.
  2. In principle all Zwave Plus devices should report status.
  3. I believe that he refers to Home Assistant. It is a very nice solution but it requires to set it up on a RPi. another very good (and easier) solution is UD Mobile.
  4. Maybe your ISY is telling you that for the winter it wants to move to sunny California.

My curtains are not Zwave by themselves but this Zwave dry contact bridge interfaces with my system. I don't know whether it would work with your system, but it is just a suggestion to research.

I wonder whether you can connect a Mimolite to your blinds. That is what I have done with my curtains and now these curtains are fully integrated in my ISY and also work nicely with both Google Home and Alexa.
  7. As I said, @MrBill knows better. This response should be kept visible for anyone having similar questions. Same as with some of @lilyoyo1 's detailled answers (when not debating to pros & cons of Insteon ).
  8. Others are more qualified, but these are my 2 cents. 1. First you find the upgrades here . Be VERY CAREFUL to exactly follow each of the steps. 2. You will need to upgrade the Zwave dongle to 500 series. However, depending on your urgency to upgrade and budget, you may consider to wait for ISY on Polisy to be released (no known eta) which will require a Zwave series 700 dongle. 3. It has been a long time since I upgraded from ISY 4.X to 5.X, but I had few issues, other than having to update some of my programs. Always make sure to make backups before making any change. 4. If you do upgrade to 5.X, I suggest that you go straight to 5.3.4 5. I see that @MrBill just replied as well and he is way more qualified than I am, so he will for sure to have a better answer to your questions.
  9. that hurts ???
  10. I think that @MrBill has said it all. I don't use the Zooz Zen 16, but have MimoLite for my automatic curtains. These were installed several years ago and I remember that I had to switch the wires from what it says they needed to be, but don't remember the details.

True, but Michel mentioned that UD is testing Zwave on Polisy with the 7-series Zooz dongle. Most likely Zooz saw a surge of purchases when this was posted...... including mine.
  12. Thanks !!!!!!!!
  13. What will this mean for me as I use the following nodeservers : Kasa MyQ Lifx Notifications ISY-Inventory Time-Date Harmony Hub AVRemote Holidays Google I make intensive use of most of these. Will nodeservers, that have not been updated to the "pay" format, still be available in PG 3 ?
  14. Ever since I discovered Home Automation and UD Mobile, Mobilinc is history for me. I paid for Mobilinc X, but I considered it a degression from Mobilinc Pro. I am not regretting having paid for Mobilinc, because the effort deserved compensation, but now I would not recommend Mobilinc to anyone. On the other hand, I use HA largely for control of ISY, and have not looked in using HA for programming or integrations ( "nodeservers") other than Chromecast. As much as I like HA, my feeling is that UD Mobile may become my primary control, once it becomes browser friendly.
  15. I am not sure to agree. let's take the example of the Lifx ns. It controls devices and the ns may need to be updated if Lifx would change their App or API. That requires work for the developer and I would not mind for paying for that. A developer may also add more features to a nodeserver. On the other hand the Time/Date ns may never need an update, so why would we have to pay for a subscription ? It is not that I am opposed to it, but I am trying to see logic in the pay-to-play model. As mentioned before, I am very much in favor to pay the developers.
  16. Very reasonable.
  17. Excellent. Not only does this reward the authors, but it also motivates to keep nodeservers up-to-date. Bravo !
  18. Thanks. You just confirmed what I had understood. When is PG 3 available ?
  19. Can you explain to me as I am confused by the terminology ? Is PG3 versus PG2 the same issue as getting ISY on Polisy, or are these unrelated ? In other words, can I upgrade to PG3 even though ISY on Polisy is not yet ready ?
  20. As I have posted before, I have one switchbox in my home where it is practically impossible to get a Neutral wire. My initial solution was to add the Ecolink switch control and this worked, but it is battery powered with heavy consumption (frequent change of batteries). It also does not have the nicest look. However it works ! Then Inovelli came out with their No Neutral needed switches and, after sweat and almost tears, I was able to include that switch to my ISY. After a few months it no longer responded in my ISY. I first did a factory reset of the switch with no result, then replaced it with a similar Inovelli switch, which also did not work, and finally went back to the Ecolink switch. A few days ago I noticed the GE Enbrighten 52252 switch which is also supposed to work without Neutral. I received it this morning. It actually does not have a Neutral connector, so it can not be used if & when you want to use it with a Neutral wire. The installation took a few minutes and it connected right away to my ISY and so far it works perfectly. I used to be impressed by Inovelli, mostly because of their innovative products, but I often have issues with their switches and light bulbs. A few months ago they posted about their future strategy and I concluded, from their explanation, that they are not very profitable and that may explain some quality issues. I wish them the best and hopefully their new strategy will work and give them a long life, but for the time being I stay away from Inovelli, focusing on GE/Jasco and Homeseer Zwave devices, though I am now also impressed by Zooz.

Zwave is backwards compatible but will slow down to the oldest Zwave series. I still have some pre-500 devices. My assumption is (but would like confirmation) that the speed depends on the mesh route taken by a device. If I put a 700 series switch (once the dongle is 700) closest to the ISY-Polisy, and that device reaches the ISY wihout going through another mesh device, I assume that it will work at 700 speed. If my assumption is right, I should starts replacing my older devices with 700 series, from close to the ISY, from the center of the circle gradually to the far end of he circle. Am I right with my assumption ?
