I noticed the Live Update, which requires Smarthome Skill V3. But how do I know which version I have ?

I find the new Alexa App very appealing. Because I have more than 40 (ZWave) devices, I look at my devices by Group. The only negative is that the status does not show until you actually click on either ON or OFF. Other than this negative, this APP is as good as Mobilinc. This being said, the update process includes several steps on 2 web sites and in 1 App : ISY Portal, add devices in Connectivity, Amazon Echo, Device.... Alexa.Amazon.com, Discover Alexa App, Add Device But once done, very nice. Mobilinc requires fewer steps, all in the App : Settings Lightning Controller Tap to Synch with ISY Update Only

Last week I noticed, and actually used, the option of 'update devices' (or something similar) below 'unlink account'. That option disappeared the following day. This morning, no change and still only 'unlink account'.

Thanks Benoit, is that by any chance what I noticed (for a brief moment) last week, with an option to add or update devices ?

It is not only a matter of money. If money would be the concern (and I had a lot of money) I would have a professional install Control4. We like ISY because it is cheaper and because we enjoy doing it ourselves.

New iOS Alexa app provides control of "Smart Home" devices
asbril replied to Bumbershoot's topic in Amazon Echo
I have seen this as well, but it does not appear to show current status of the light, which is something Mobilinc does very well. -
I am actually in the middle of an exchange with Wes (Mobilinc) regarding the IP Cameras. I am very satisfied with Mobilinc to operate my ISY Zwave setup, but I do not succeed to access my Foscam cameras when I am connected to Tmobile. Wes told me that this is an issue because TMobile changed some internet settings. However I have no problems to access my cameras, while on TMobile, when using the App IPCamViewerPro. Wes has asked me to send him more screenshots of my settings on both IPCamViewerPro and Mobilinc. Hopefully Wes can resolve this.

Interesting issue that I follow with interest for my Google Home devices. I am pretty sure that, what you want, does not work on Google Home. I have two GH devices and to switch a light On or Off, I must specify the name of the specific light. It would be interesting to say, while near the Kitchen GH, turn on the lights and it only applies to the kitchen, but right now that would not work. I do not think that the GH device knows that I speak to (in fact) Google Assistant from the kitchen and not from the bedroom. This is, I believe, because Google Home works with Google Assistant and Google Assistant works with your specific Google account. Now, I am not even sure that I would want the GH to react only on the lights at the location of the GH device. My kitchen is next to my dining room and I like to control both from the kitchen GH.

And please let us not get angry at each other, even if you strongly disagree. We all want the same super duper home automation, with ISY leading the way.

Some people on this forum seem to have artificial intelligence... Just joking guys

I have similar issue with "Good Night" on Google Home. Google has made "Good Night" their standard shortcut and other than wishing me to sleep well, it does nothing. I tried to call the shortcut Buenas Noches but when I say OK Google Buenas Noches, it replies Good Night.... However I made it work by linking a ISY scene named Good Night and saying OK Google Turn On Good Night. But it feel weird to say Turn ON when I want the lights to go OFF.

Sorry to have "hijacked" your question by asking about the Mimolite.

The truth is that we live in exciting times and there is a lot more to come. Right now home automation is for professionals or amateur techies, such as most of us here (I am only a small and older techie compared to some of you). Making ISY work with Alexa, Google Home or IFTTT still needs effort. Even the Administrative Console of ISY requires a techie mind. The next phase of home automation will be for my wife and kids, who won't go beyond plugging in a device and it connecting straight to an easy to operate App on their phone, without any programming. I have my Samsung washer and dryer connected to wifi, but there is very little (if any) benefit to it. But I look forward to my fridge ordering milk and eggs directly to Amazon Fresh, which then delivers it to my home. This is around the corner and, as I said, it is exciting.

I think that "early stages" is a relative concept. I'd love to see what home automation will be in 25 years and by then I would think that 2017 will be considered early stages.

I have 2 Google Home devices and 2 Alexa sticks. Though I have had intermittent issues, right now both work well. Alexa is a tiny bit faster but it does not bother me . What I like with the Alexa stick is that I just press and don't need to say Alexa or OK Google

Instant Status report ????

I am following this with great interest. I just received 2 Mimo-lite devices which I willl use for automatic curtains that I hope to install next week. If I read the forum posts well, the Mimo-Lite should work with 5.0.10 but may not give instant status.... Am I correct ?

It definitely appears to be a GH issue because when ISY stopped working with GH, my Nest thermostats also stopped working.

do a factory reset of the GH

Very weird !!!!!! I was about to take a screenshot of my Iphone to post here and this morning indeed there is only unlink. I was not drinking yesterday (lol) and am sure that the option of checking for new devices was there. I actually used it twice...... Hopefully it will be back.
-
In the Google Home / Assistant App ----} Home Control ----} Devices ----} Universal Devices (at top of page). Until recently only option was 'unlink' and if you wanted to add a device then you needed to unlink Universal Devices and then add all devices again. Now much easier by checking for new devices.

For everyone's benefit, I finally sorted it out with Google Home support (U.S.: 1-855-971-9121) when I realized that the problem was not just with ISY but also with my Nest thermostats. We did a factory reset on my Google Home (press button at back of Google Home till lights go full orange), and then follow the steps in the Google Home App to set up the Google Home device. After that, both Nest thermostats and my ISY devices work again with Google Home. If you have more than one Google Home device, before doing the factory reset on the first Google Home, make sure to disconnect power from your other Google Home device(s). When first Google Home factory reset is complete, then power the other and perform same factory reset.

My experience is that for non-free Google products (such as Google Home, Chromecast, etc) their phone support is superb, almost at the level of Universal Devices support .
-
BTW Michel, as you know for sure already, there is a very useful addition for the Universal Devices option in Google Home, allowing it to check for new devices. It is no longer necessary to unlink and re-link. ISY is the best !

What happened to "Maker" in IFTTT ? I used to set up the IFTTT Applet with Assistant for IF and Maker for Then, but I no longer find "Maker" ....
