  1. That model rated at 20 amps. My guess is heavier duty, noisy relay. I did see the size comparison diagram for the 2487S with older one, but didn't realize it was that much larger. Also the Line, Load and Ground leads are #12 wire. The Neutral is #18. #12 his harder to bend into the electrical box. I know it would not fit for me. Old house, small electrical boxes. A standard Insteon Switch is a challenge for me.
  2. In the Administrative Console. Help tab. About choice. Will tell you exactly what you are running along with other information.
  3. What revision of firmware are you using with your ISY99i? Support for the 2491T was added in Beta 3.1.6 If you need to update it. 3.1.14 is the latest and recommended. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=7575 Make sure you follow all the manual update instructions. Like Java Cache clearing.
  4. The ISY99i only will automatically update if a new Official Firmware release is done. You have to manually update for Beta Releases. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=7575 Make sure you follow the directions carefully. Like clearing the Java temporary files
  5. Maybe a high frequency noise from the switching supply. Hope your tests show something conclusive.

Do you have a pair of Dual Band Devices. Where one is on each phase of the home and the communications tests where confirmed?
  7. Buzz is there all the time or just when the internal relay is On? I have had a few ApplinaceLincs buzz when On and it was the relay buzzing. I don't believe the 2487S has a incorrect wiring sensor that would beep if the load was not connected correctly. I believe it has one of the newer designed switching regulator power supply circuit in it. I wounder if one of the coils isn't wound snug enough and is buzzing.
  8. The Venstar adapter that supplies power to the unit when connecting to a two wire heat only system. Is 24 volts 200mA {0.2 Amps}. I would think 24 volts 1.25 amps would be plenty.

Not a real good idea. I would think both the Insteon and Touch Controls could be damaged depending on each devices state.

This is what worked for me with Avast 6.0.1289. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6933 Note Avast recently updated to a later version that may act differently. In my case it hosed my computer and I went back to 6.0.1289.

After you started the Linking process. When you pushed the set button on the device you wanted to link to for I believe 3 or more seconds. Did anything happen?
  12. Sounds like you may have some power line signal problems. That is effecting communications. Do you have any X10 phase coupling between the phases? As Insteon devices do not retransmit x10 signals. Some have found as more Insteon devices are added. Their X10 devices performance goes down. Basically the power line transmitters in them can absorb some of the signals on the power line.
  13. Installed fine. Will report any odd things if I see them.

Glad it helped. Let us know if you have any other questions on older modules. Like the older ApplianceLinc and LampLinc modules tied the Local Control Sensing to an X10 address or the older SwitchLinc and Icon Relay models don't have an Air Gap Switch. Resulting in a different Factory Reset procedure. The older manuals for them seem to have been misplaced on the Smarthome site.
  15. You may want to try picking the 2477D from the drop down list and not Auto Detect. Though I suspect it is a communications issue between the PLM and the 2477D. The release notes for 2.8.16 shows the 2477D was supported.
  16. What model Insteon module? What revision firmware is in your ISY99i? You are using the Auto Detect Choice? Do you have two Dual Band devices bridging the power line phases and verified in their communications test? If it is a RF device that goes into power saving mode. They have to be woken up before they can be added.
  17. Glad you found the problem.
  18. Are you running a Firewall or Anti virus program? If so what are they? I know Zone Alarm has to have the ISY99is address added to the Trusted Zone and Avast 6.0.1289 need some tweaking also.

From the users reported information on this web site. http://www.madreporite.com/insteon/Inst ... e_list.htm Your KeypadLinc Dimmer is the first hardware and firmware version sold. It is very possible it doesn't support the features in the newer models. The list indicates v1.5 and above with firmware .2D.
  20. There is only one Dual Band PLM. The 2413S Serial and the 2413U USB and with an ISY99i unit it would be a 2413S. Was the needed power supply also included?
  21. I would expect the network LEDs on the jack should be On or flickering if there was network activity. Seeing the TX; RX, and Mem LEDs flash possibly also, but I have noticed on my older one {Green Power LED}. They flicker briefly and sometimes I miss seeing then flash. You did verify the network connection in the wiring closet is functional?
  22. That sounds like it would work.
  23. I took a 35 LED 120 Volt .02 amp Christmas Light set and tested it with a 47K 1/2 watt resistor. With both a revision 1.3 and 4.1 ApplianceLinc. The LEDs did not glow and when On the resistor was not too warm as it was dissipating about .31 watts. Little more than half its rating. Though extreme care would be needed if a resistor was used. Don't need any sparks or lost members here.
  24. I was just curious as I have had both versions apart to dissect them. Its the old electronic technician in me getting curious. I actually had one of the v.12s that smoked. Yes all they did was remove the two series caps across the relay contacts and call it a v1.3. The 4.1s have an RC network across the relay contacts.
  25. Tim; Mostly hardware person question. Have you done both the older and newer hardware designed modules? I know they are very different internally between my v1.3 and 4.1 AppliancLincs.
