  1. Maybe my OLD KPL's (1st Version), but when I go into them on iSY the only button that I have the choice to turn ON/OFF is the "A" button. How do I turn B-H ON/OFF? Oh and also, if I trigger a scene, i.e. the above SL's on with a KPL button, say "B", the button comes on because the "B" is the controller. How do i then incorporate your example? Take a minute and see my setup. I'm using a button to trigger the scene with multiple SL's responding. It works great until the wife uses one of the corresponding SL's to turn that particular light on full (wives only use full bright). She then turns out the light and the scene is missing my settings. Is there a way to make the scene then resume the original settings if she messes with it? Thanks guys. I know you'll know what to do... Tim
  2. OK, I understand that. but lets say that a, b, c, d, e were all set to random levels, i.e. 22%, 31%. 55%, 90%, 12% etc. Then the wife turns "a" on full and for all purposes "breaks the original scene". How can one get the KPL off in recognition of the broken scene, then what I'd like is than anytime the scene is going to be broken, have the entire scene turn off, then turn on her "scene breaker". If that is not possible, how do I make your idea work ( to just turn off the KPL) with the percentage levels above? aLf
  3. OK. Lets look at it from another angle. Let's say that the first scene (triggered by KPL A) turns on light a, b, c, d, e, and of course KPL A. Now someone turns off light a from it's own SL. Light a goes out, but KPL A stays on. It would be nice to have KPL A go out any time the original scene went from it's original intent, maybe the onset of SL a turns all of the original scene off first? aLf
  4. I was happy that my ISY never reverted to old dates. Today it did, 1965! What is the status of this and what should I do going forward? Thanks, aLf
  5. Steve: Sorry about your mess! I use this company's Freeze Alarm product (NON ISY). It works flawless. I DO NOT have thier water sensor, but I'm sure it would work for you, either on their alarm or hooked up to an EZ sensor. You may (dependant on your temperatures) find that their Freeze Alarm is a must, I do, (Northern WI). It not only alerts to cold (or warm) temps, it also will turn the furnace/AC on or off. To date, I have not seen an efficient way to do for me what this will do through my ISY. Check out their water sensors at... http://www.protectedhome.com/?cPath=13&language=en You can further see their other products from there. *** Michel, I still think that there is some room for UDI to expand here ****. If ?

Hi. The following program works perfect. The only problem is that I have a couple other items that I'd like to have follow the same criteria (same time). Right now I just have copies of this program doing the same thing to a total of three other Insteon units. That's OK, but it seems to be more streamlined if they were all in the same program. That said, is there a way to set the If to check status of say Gate Lanterns and if they were "off" turn them on too? My logic says no because you'd be querrying a device that may or may not have anything to do with the other... If ( From Sunset To 10:30:00PM (same day) And Status 'Gate Outlet' is Off ) Then Set Scene 'Gate Outlet' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Thanks, aLf
  7. Michel: I do it the old fashioned way with HTTPS on the computer and just Safari in the iPhone. That may be the answer. I have not yet migrated to the iPhone Aps. Is there one that is better than others? Any reason to afraid of using the iPhone Aps?, i.e., stuff going on when I don't want it. aLf
  8. Hey Michel: I don't use iLinc (actually don't know what that is), unless you're talking about a RemoteLinc. The only "outside" source I have is the NetMod running code to set cameras. They shoulld not even be in the picture during the times I'm seeing the error. Otherwise I have nothing out of the ordinary running. I'm sure it is nothing too, but the pilot thing always enters into the picture when I see computer errors! aLf
  9. I get this error occasionally. "-5012 UPNP SUBSCRIBER NOREPLY TO EVENT 1 subscriber didn't reply to the event:couldn't write header" Any idea as to why I get this? It never coincides with any scheduled event of Insteon activity. I see it in the log when I'm away and my AWAY program(s) are running. As I said the times never meet with any of the schedule. Thanks, aLf

    Gmail

David: Thanks. That did the trick! Funny thing is that Gmail doesn't publish that port. It was the same port number that I used with Earthlink. Hey it works, why try and figure it out. aLf

    Gmail

I have had problems with Gmail. I have used Gmail with my log-ins and PORT 465 and I can't get ISY to work with it! I was forced to use Gmail with my Panasonic Cameras (SMTP SSL). I decided to use Gmail as my primary e-mail for all security (including ISY) items. I can't get ISY99 to work with the same log-ins. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to make ISY work with Gmail? Thanks, aLf

    ISY-26 factory reset?

OK, now I'm not sure I even have the password and log-ins. Why in the world isn't there a way to Factory Reset this thing blindly? Can't you just flash the memory and start over? What would the refurb guys do? aLf

    ISY-26 factory reset?

OK, talk about a "dumb" terminal, I'm it. I do have the DB9 cable. But out of three computers, I don't have a serial outlet on the computer. So now what do I do? aLf
  14. I have my old 26 which was removed from home 1. I now want to use it in home 2. The instructions say that to do a factory reset you just have to get it on the network and enter ISY. I had a static IP entered on it before (can't remember what IP I gave it), new router etc. My Network Places does not see it! How can I just get to it and re-enter the new static IP? A brief instruction on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Regards, aLf

    KPL LIghts

Please save me the time in looking it up. I know you pull out the button, wait, then reset it and hold in. But then what do I do to ISY to get it back into the picture? What about the button functions, do they need to be re-programmed? Thanks, aLf

    KPL LIghts

Any ideas? Trash the KPL? aLf

    KPL LIghts

Hi Michel: It is a really old KPL. I was under the impression that only the newer versions could dim? Is that right? aLf
  18. aLf

    KPL LIghts

HI. Has anyone had an issue with KPL button lights going about 95% dim? They have worked ggod for a few years (old style KPL). The buttons still work, but the button lights are almost invisible. Is there a fix or will I be buying a new KPL? Thanks, aLf

    CFL & LED's

So if one was going to get his feet wet, what CFL or LED should I try? Do all CFL's have dimming options that actually work with Insteon? aLf

    CFL & LED's

Hi guys! With the Gov't threats of LED and CFL's being imposed on us in 2011, is there a good work around for dim-able bulbs that actually work and give off good light? So far I am NOT impressed with our options. What does everyone have planned? Michel, any input from UDI? If not my Menards will get cleaned out of my supply needs! Regards, aLf

    ON-But no link?

Michel: As always, you always have the right answer. That did the trick. I'll keep testing it, but I'm confident with you as the captain. Of ISY that is! Tim

    ON-But no link?

I have an Insteon System that has 40+ switches and an ISY99. There have been no changes in the setup for quite awhile. In the past few weeks we have noticed a particular light "location B" was on when no one had switched it on. Today I found that another location "location A" was triggering the first light on. I went into ISY and checked the published links, there were none between the two. The only common ground was that all my swithes, including both locations here are controlled by an ALL-OFF scene. I checked the ISY log and saw only location A in the log. I tried several times and each time by turning "location A" on, "location B" would also follow. When I trurn "A" off, "B" always stays on. For clarity, "A" is two Switchlinc relays tied to each other by a scene, "B" is a simple single Switchlinc. Thanks for the help. aLf
  23. Hi guys. This is an off-ISY question. Many of you have shown some very elaborate Holiday Decorations using ISY, so I figure maybe someone can help. Many years ago I purchased some small, very inexpensive (5 bucks or so) Christmas music boxes that plugged into my outdoor lights. They played a dozen or so short segments of holiday tunes. Well, last year one died and I can't find anything like them. They are the size of a half pack of cigarettes. I've looked everywhere with no luck in even finding any kind of music playing thing that would plug into 110v. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? As cheap as an Ipod is, I even thought about that, but again it almost has to be 110v. Sorry for the off topic post, I appreciate the response. aLf

    Network resource

David: Go to this thread... http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=2762&highlight=panasonic I have been using the resource in my ISY very well with this for some time. I only wish the gentleman who started this resource would come up with some others. In the olden days, i would have to log into each camera (6) and manually set each to motion on/off. Now with the push of one Insteon button, ISY sets my home to AWAY mode (including the cameras). Too cool. I'm going to watch this thread and hope that you too will benefit from this add-on. I also hope that the author comes up with some other useful things for the cameras. aLf
  25. I've got several HM-BCL531's, a 581 and a 511. I used to have to go into each one to run (or change) the triggers. Now one KPL button push (which also turn the home/away program on/off) and the cameras change trigger mode. Works like a champ, aLf
