With the above in mind, i.e., door opens and does not close. Lets play a scenario here. Someone breaks in, they probably will open the door, and if indeed they are a break in, they probably will not close the door. I'd like to know that the door opened (whether it closes or not). What would be the best intrusion program to write? Thanks, aLf

bdlhome: "You are the man". For readers, bdlhome was kind enough to suggest my looking at DrayTek routers. I ended up purchasing the 2930n. As is the case with ISY, I find this router one of the finest pieces of equipment I now own. Bdl gave me a few minutes of "dual" over the phone. I unpacked the box and within minutes it was up and running. A few hours I had it singing! In three days, there has not been one hitch. I probably should have spent the extra $50 for the integrated ISDN/Voip. I use Ooma for phone which is another story. It provides excellent phone quality at a price of just $200. Free phone, long distance for life! As long as they stay afloat, it will be a good deal. I find the break-even point just six months. Ooma does not require a hard programmed Voip, basically plug-and-play. Thanks again Brian, I really appreciate the tip on DrayTek. Regards, aLf

I implemented this over two months ago and it has worked flawless ever since. Many thanks burakk. Anybody else with Panasonic's will love this. aLf

bdlhome: Thanks for the reccomendation. I spoke with the folks at dsl-warehouse and have a 2930n on its way. I opted to not go with the Voip as my Voip is a basic simple (OOMA) unit and it provides its own box and for a house, I will probably not need much more than that for Voip. The router looks good and the support looks even better. I'd love to talk with you personally about the configuration of it (especially the VPN part). Is there a way to contact you privately? Again, Thanks a bunch. aLf Tim

bdlhome: I'd be interested in some links to see more on Draytek. How does the VPN thing work? Tim

bdlhome: Thanks! I tried internally and externally. I have the luxury as I still have the DSL hooked up (thanfully). It just didn't work. I've been reading tonight. My best options it appears is: 1) Get another 825 (I'm not excited) 2) Downgrade to a 655 or 625 3) Linksys WRT 610n 4) Apple AirportExtreme The Apple sems to have nothing but good reports. I'm VERY hesitant to get another D-Link. The Linksys seems good but also has plenty of issues. D-Link customer support is what really turned me off. They just didn't seem to have a clue. That said, I'm still confused. Thanks for the NAT traversal reminder, I knew about that and have neever unchecked it in the last DSL router. I will be sure to do that on this one. I'd rather access from the web than internal when I'm home. Thanks, aLf

It is not port specific. We tried several ports and all gave the same results. As I stated in the earlier post, a search of Google provides a bunch of issues with the 825. Many had the same port fwd. issues. The tech no-service dudes at D-Link were zero help and they too could not figure it out. As a matter of fact, I was stumped with the difference between port fwd. and Virtual Network. When asked the CSR couldn't explain and actually had me trying both! I'm still not sure what the differences are My neighbor just recently upgraded to the fiber as well and also has the same camera and his is flying. The difference between fibre and DSL is amazing. I'm 90% sure this is a bad router issue. That said, I hope someone could chime in on a better router. I wish UDI made a router, then I'd know it works! Michel, any ideas? Thanks. aLf

Hello All! I'd like to start this thread with hopes of some help. I recently upgraded my ISP to fiber. In doing so, I bought a D-Link DIR-825 as an improvement to the cause. After spending the entire day Friday on programming. Today the D-Link is back in the box and headed for a refund. I could not get the port forwarding or the vitual network to work. I was on the phone to level III tech (non)support. They could not get it to work either. I've since read of some issues with the D-Link 825 and 625 along these same problems. I researched Linksys and had almost settled on the WRT-610N, then read of issues there as well. What do you "smart" guys use? Any reccomendations will be appreciated. My wish list is for port forwarding for ISY and cameras, but really liked the USB port so that I could hook up a removable hard drive for FTP-ing pictures from the cameras. I'll need to swap this out Tuesday, so I hope you all can help. Regards, aLf

Another question. Here is my Home Folder. Folder Conditions for 'HOME' Add conditions to limit when programs in this folder are allowed to run. If ( Status 'GAR KPL H' is On And Status 'MBR KPL H' is On And Status 'Occupied On/OFF APL' is On ) Then Allow the programs in this folder to run. And here is my Clock On trigger. If ( From Sunset To 10:35:00PM (same day) ) And Status 'Garage Clock APL' is Off Then Set 'Garage Clock APL' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If I get home after sunset and I set ISY that I'm HOME, I'd think that the clock would come on as I'm between Sunset and 10:35. It doesn't even I querry. What am I doing wrong here? aLf

Darrell: Can you have two identical programs wit the same function? I'd still like to have my regular one that just triggers the ALL OFF, then add what you suggested. My ALL OFF turns everything off every hour when it's running. Will there be a conflict if I have them both? Tim
-
Darrell: Now I'm getting somewhere. Maybe what I need is a program that turns my trigger (KPL's & APL)OFF if the power goes off and on and maybe randomly turns one of the three on. In 26 it wouldn't evaluate, it just ran. What I'm looking for is insurance that in the case of power surge or outage the ISY ALWAYS runs the ALL OFF, even if I'm HOME. I have had problems of the KPL's coming on with these abnormalities. Any suggestions. Thanks, Tim
-
Mike: It's not you that's dense, it's me! To answer your question(s). Yes there was a difference in 26. My understanding is that the IF & THEN made a difference in 99 so I re-wrote the program when I got 99. Since then the RUN AT STARTUP which was RE-BOOT has not worked. What I'm looking for is if anything is ON when the reboot happens that the ALL OFF will run. It does not. It stays at the last state. In the case of being home, the KPL's are on. If the ISY reboots and the ALL OFF is set as RUN AT STARTUP, shouldn't the ISY turn everything off? Tim
-
Mike: When you reboot the ISY, does this program show as TRUE? Are the specified KPL buttons shown as OFF in the Admin Console? No it does not show true. It does not change. KPL's are in the same mode. A good test for this is when I'm HOME, the KPL is lit (on). On the 26, if a reboot happened while in that state, the program would run as if AWAY, but the KPL's would still stay lit, I actually had to physically put them in sync. I'm not looking to reinvent anything here. If there is a bette way to do this, by all means I'll do it. Thanks, Tim
-
Thanks Mike, it's been one of those days and I missed it! Actually after looking at it, I have the ALL OFF program in the root. Here it is... If ( Status 'GAR KPL H' is Off Or Status 'MBR KPL H' is Off Or Status 'Occupied On/OFF APL' is Off ) Then Repeat Every 1 hour Set Scene 'All OFF' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Now, I have it set as RUN AT STARTUP. I would think that if I rebooted ISY, or a power outage did, it would run the away program. It used to in my 26. Thanks, Tim

Please refresh my memory on how to cut/paste from my programs. Sorry, I can't remember. Tim

Mike: KPL version .29, they are almost original. I can dim by pushing two buttons at the same time, but it sure would be nice to dim all the way, i.e., bedtime. As far as folders go, I have my folders set to run when either home or away. But, I have my ALL OFF scene in the AWAY folder. I have it set as RUN AT STARTUP. It does not run if the ISY reboots. If I have it in the core, it will run. What am I doing wrong here? Tim
-
Rand: Thanks. I understand it that far. I just can't seem to get the KPL buttons to show if I try to get them (the KPL buttons) to turn off. i.e., IF-some switch is puhed, THEN turn off KPL button C. Also I assume that even though I have the ISY software installed, 2.7.5, I still can't dim the KPL buttons? Is my only option to buy new KPL's? Also, other than for housekeeping, is there any benefit to using a folder? The reason I ask is that I changed over to folders "HOME" and "AWAY". I have my "ALL OFF" inside the AWAY folder. I set it as "RUN AT STARTUP", but it doesn't trigger if I reboot ISY. When it resided outside the AWAY it would. With the addition of camera control, I really want to make the tree what it should be. Thanks, Tim
-
Rand: Sorry to have to re-visit this, but... I can't seem to figure out how to add KPL button "C" to a program. All that shows up is KPL "A" on the Insteon List of available items. I'm still confused as to the control/status issue here. For what its worth, I have KPL's that are the original version, in my case V .29. All I'm looking for is a simple way to control a scene that will turn off all. My current way has worked fine up to now. I now will be adding a control line directed to an add on module to control Panasonic cam's that Burakk wrote. If you could give me some direction as to the best way to trigger my all-off scene, I can incorporate the new module program. Thanks, Tim

bjackson: I too utilize ISY and Panasonic cameras. You need to re-configure your camera to non-veiwcam mode. Go back into your setup and remove the config's for any access from the internet. Do not use the veiwcam option. Next set your camera up for a static IP address, use that address in the setup section of the cam. Now go into your Linksys router and set the camera up as TCP and port forward a port of your choice (anything other than ISYs 443). Now go to the DYNDNS.com webpage and set up a dynamic dns account (it's free). Select an easy to remember name for your new dyndns URL. After the account is setup, configure it with a password and username. Go back to the Linksys and apply the option for Dynamic DNS, it will ask for the username and password. Then when your ISP changes your IP, the modem will automaticly send out a "change of address card" to DYNDNS. They claim as long as a half hour to complete, but my history is zero wait time. When you surf to your DYNDNS URL, DYNDNS will redirect you to your cam/ISY network. Your configuration will require a port number for the cam but simply going to your DYNDNS address will go directly to your ISY (port 443). I know it sounds complicated but it works flawless. My old ISP tried talking me into "business class" for $50 amonth more and said there was no way around it. This is a free way around it. PM me if you'd like me to walk you through it. I'd be happy to pay back some of the help on this others have given me.

Mike: I'll try the 20 minute wait! I have always just looked at the flashing and unplugged the Ethernet cable and re-booted. I'll check to see if it comes back on its own. aLf
-
Tried a different switch. No change. I am in the process of changing ISP's and will get a new router. That may change my problems, we'll see. That said, do you or anyone else have any reccomendations on a very good wireless router. I need quality first then ease of programming as I have several cameras and ISY that need port forwarding. aLf

Mikeb: Thanks. So just to clarify, there is NO problem with an Ac and the PLM power pulgged in at the same time? What is your track record with back-up powering the modem, router and switch? If the house power was off and ISY could not talk with the units anyway would I end up with the same flashing issues? Problem for me is that if I'm not there, I can't re-boot ISY until I come back home. aLf
-
I too have power outage problems and note that when my switch (not the router) is powered down that ISY loses coomunication unti re-booted. Is it possible to get one of these AC arts and plug it in all the time (in addition to the PLM power) and then have a backup power supply run the AC in the event of power outages? If I simply repower my router ISY is OK, but for some reason the switch repowering causes ISY to go into flashing mode. aLf

burakk: I have (4) HCM-531, (1) HCM-581, (2) HCM-331. Thanks, aLf

burakk: Thanks. If possible, maybe I could get you to write the code and tell me how to do it. Much appreciated. I'm tired of a gazillion e-mail notify's when I drive in the driveway. Much nicer, your way. Maybe Panasonic could learn from you. They've told me there was no way to modify code to do what I'm asking for. Let me know. If I can call you somehow, I'd love to talk about this. PM me with info, if that is OK. Regards, Tim
