Gmail
I have had problems with Gmail. I have used Gmail with my log-ins and PORT 465 and I can't get ISY to work with it! I was forced to use Gmail with my Panasonic Cameras (SMTP SSL). I decided to use Gmail as my primary e-mail for all security (including ISY) items. I can't get ISY99 to work with the same log-ins. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to make ISY work with Gmail? Thanks, aLf

ISY-26 factory reset?
OK, now I'm not sure I even have the password and log-ins. Why in the world isn't there a way to Factory Reset this thing blindly? Can't you just flash the memory and start over? What would the refurb guys do? aLf

ISY-26 factory reset?
OK, talk about a "dumb" terminal, I'm it. I do have the DB9 cable. But out of three computers, I don't have a serial outlet on the computer. So now what do I do? aLf

ISY-26 factory reset?
I have my old 26 which was removed from home 1. I now want to use it in home 2. The instructions say that to do a factory reset you just have to get it on the network and enter ISY. I had a static IP entered on it before (can't remember what IP I gave it), new router etc. My Network Places does not see it! How can I just get to it and re-enter the new static IP? A brief instruction on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Regards, aLf

KPL LIghts
Please save me the time in looking it up. I know you pull out the button, wait, then reset it and hold in. But then what do I do to ISY to get it back into the picture? What about the button functions, do they need to be re-programmed? Thanks, aLf

KPL LIghts
Hi Michel: It is a really old KPL. I was under the impression that only the newer versions could dim? Is that right? aLf

KPL LIghts
HI. Has anyone had an issue with KPL button lights going about 95% dim? They have worked ggod for a few years (old style KPL). The buttons still work, but the button lights are almost invisible. Is there a fix or will I be buying a new KPL? Thanks, aLf

CFL & LED's
So if one was going to get his feet wet, what CFL or LED should I try? Do all CFL's have dimming options that actually work with Insteon? aLf

CFL & LED's
Hi guys! With the Gov't threats of LED and CFL's being imposed on us in 2011, is there a good work around for dim-able bulbs that actually work and give off good light? So far I am NOT impressed with our options. What does everyone have planned? Michel, any input from UDI? If not my Menards will get cleaned out of my supply needs! Regards, aLf

ON-But no link?
Michel: As always, you always have the right answer. That did the trick. I'll keep testing it, but I'm confident with you as the captain. Of ISY that is! Tim

ON-But no link?
I have an Insteon System that has 40+ switches and an ISY99. There have been no changes in the setup for quite awhile. In the past few weeks we have noticed a particular light "location B" was on when no one had switched it on. Today I found that another location "location A" was triggering the first light on. I went into ISY and checked the published links, there were none between the two. The only common ground was that all my swithes, including both locations here are controlled by an ALL-OFF scene. I checked the ISY log and saw only location A in the log. I tried several times and each time by turning "location A" on, "location B" would also follow. When I trurn "A" off, "B" always stays on. For clarity, "A" is two Switchlinc relays tied to each other by a scene, "B" is a simple single Switchlinc. Thanks for the help. aLf

The Holidays are a comin!
Hi guys. This is an off-ISY question. Many of you have shown some very elaborate Holiday Decorations using ISY, so I figure maybe someone can help. Many years ago I purchased some small, very inexpensive (5 bucks or so) Christmas music boxes that plugged into my outdoor lights. They played a dozen or so short segments of holiday tunes. Well, last year one died and I can't find anything like them. They are the size of a half pack of cigarettes. I've looked everywhere with no luck in even finding any kind of music playing thing that would plug into 110v. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? As cheap as an Ipod is, I even thought about that, but again it almost has to be 110v. Sorry for the off topic post, I appreciate the response. aLf

Network resource
David: Go to this thread... http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=2762&highlight=panasonic I have been using the resource in my ISY very well with this for some time. I only wish the gentleman who started this resource would come up with some others. In the olden days, i would have to log into each camera (6) and manually set each to motion on/off. Now with the push of one Insteon button, ISY sets my home to AWAY mode (including the cameras). Too cool. I'm going to watch this thread and hope that you too will benefit from this add-on. I also hope that the author comes up with some other useful things for the cameras. aLf

Panasonic Camera control from ISY
I've got several HM-BCL531's, a 581 and a 511. I used to have to go into each one to run (or change) the triggers. Now one KPL button push (which also turn the home/away program on/off) and the cameras change trigger mode. Works like a champ, aLf

Triggerlinc script? TL open = light on, email notifications
With the above in mind, i.e., door opens and does not close. Lets play a scenario here. Someone breaks in, they probably will open the door, and if indeed they are a break in, they probably will not close the door. I'd like to know that the door opened (whether it closes or not). What would be the best intrusion program to write? Thanks, aLf

bdlhome: "You are the man". For readers, bdlhome was kind enough to suggest my looking at DrayTek routers. I ended up purchasing the 2930n. As is the case with ISY, I find this router one of the finest pieces of equipment I now own. Bdl gave me a few minutes of "dual" over the phone. I unpacked the box and within minutes it was up and running. A few hours I had it singing! In three days, there has not been one hitch. I probably should have spent the extra $50 for the integrated ISDN/Voip. I use Ooma for phone which is another story. It provides excellent phone quality at a price of just $200. Free phone, long distance for life! As long as they stay afloat, it will be a good deal. I find the break-even point just six months. Ooma does not require a hard programmed Voip, basically plug-and-play. Thanks again Brian, I really appreciate the tip on DrayTek. Regards, aLf

Panasonic Camera control from ISY
I implemented this over two months ago and it has worked flawless ever since. Many thanks burakk. Anybody else with Panasonic's will love this. aLf

bdlhome: Thanks for the reccomendation. I spoke with the folks at dsl-warehouse and have a 2930n on its way. I opted to not go with the Voip as my Voip is a basic simple (OOMA) unit and it provides its own box and for a house, I will probably not need much more than that for Voip. The router looks good and the support looks even better. I'd love to talk with you personally about the configuration of it (especially the VPN part). Is there a way to contact you privately? Again, Thanks a bunch. aLf Tim

Router
bdlhome: Thanks! I tried internally and externally. I have the luxury as I still have the DSL hooked up (thanfully). It just didn't work. I've been reading tonight. My best options it appears is: 1) Get another 825 (I'm not excited) 2) Downgrade to a 655 or 625 3) Linksys WRT 610n 4) Apple AirportExtreme The Apple sems to have nothing but good reports. I'm VERY hesitant to get another D-Link. The Linksys seems good but also has plenty of issues. D-Link customer support is what really turned me off. They just didn't seem to have a clue. That said, I'm still confused. Thanks for the NAT traversal reminder, I knew about that and have neever unchecked it in the last DSL router. I will be sure to do that on this one. I'd rather access from the web than internal when I'm home. Thanks, aLf

It is not port specific. We tried several ports and all gave the same results. As I stated in the earlier post, a search of Google provides a bunch of issues with the 825. Many had the same port fwd. issues. The tech no-service dudes at D-Link were zero help and they too could not figure it out. As a matter of fact, I was stumped with the difference between port fwd. and Virtual Network. When asked the CSR couldn't explain and actually had me trying both! I'm still not sure what the differences are My neighbor just recently upgraded to the fiber as well and also has the same camera and his is flying. The difference between fibre and DSL is amazing. I'm 90% sure this is a bad router issue. That said, I hope someone could chime in on a better router. I wish UDI made a router, then I'd know it works! Michel, any ideas? Thanks. aLf

Router
Hello All! I'd like to start this thread with hopes of some help. I recently upgraded my ISP to fiber. In doing so, I bought a D-Link DIR-825 as an improvement to the cause. After spending the entire day Friday on programming. Today the D-Link is back in the box and headed for a refund. I could not get the port forwarding or the vitual network to work. I was on the phone to level III tech (non)support. They could not get it to work either. I've since read of some issues with the D-Link 825 and 625 along these same problems. I researched Linksys and had almost settled on the WRT-610N, then read of issues there as well. What do you "smart" guys use? Any reccomendations will be appreciated. My wish list is for port forwarding for ISY and cameras, but really liked the USB port so that I could hook up a removable hard drive for FTP-ing pictures from the cameras. I'll need to swap this out Tuesday, so I hope you all can help. Regards, aLf

Folder
Another question. Here is my Home Folder. Folder Conditions for 'HOME' Add conditions to limit when programs in this folder are allowed to run. If ( Status 'GAR KPL H' is On And Status 'MBR KPL H' is On And Status 'Occupied On/OFF APL' is On ) Then Allow the programs in this folder to run. And here is my Clock On trigger. If ( From Sunset To 10:35:00PM (same day) ) And Status 'Garage Clock APL' is Off Then Set 'Garage Clock APL' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If I get home after sunset and I set ISY that I'm HOME, I'd think that the clock would come on as I'm between Sunset and 10:35. It doesn't even I querry. What am I doing wrong here? aLf
