Yeah.. not blocks for sure but maybe when starting to come down the road so it is opening or almost open when she approaches it. If it isn't she is the type that would get frustrated and just do it with the remote so anything else would really not work for her and I'd be chasing my tail to make it work.. .. This is why I want it to trigger for that car only as she is really the only one that uses it and it sits in the garage otherwise. Even if it were blocks away I know that car is coming home and going in the garage at any moment

You can get that also.. Here is one for example. Mine is behind a storm door and pretty new but it seems very solid. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Schlage-Connect-Camelot-Satin-Nickel-Touchscreen-Deadbolt-with-Alarm-and-Handleset-with-Accent-Interior-Lever-FE469NX-ACC-619-CAM-LH/204793909

Another vote for Schlage Connect Z-Wave.. I have the z-wave add on in my ISY and it works pretty good. I tried the Morning Industry and it was ok but the remote would not always work.. A few days after I installed it I literally took the remote right up to it and it wouldn't respond. Returned while I could. I have a pretty new Insteon Lock Controller you can use for Morning Industry if interested. The status and alerts are worth it alone to go Z-Wave. And you can set up a geofence if she carries a phone to automatically lock it if outside of the defined area.

Well thinking about an extra iphone even if the cellular service is not needed to support geofence itself relying on wifi I think would be limited in distance to trigger the variable state in time to be pulling in while the door was opening. Thinking

Hmm.. Interesting.. This made me also think another iphone with mobilinc on it could serve as what I'm looking to do simply.. Just leave that device in the car.. Does it need cellular service to utilize geofence?

Thanks for the thoughts.. Yeah.. it is a 2005 Honda Civic.. only technology it has is a 3.5mm input jack .. She loves this car and has no interest in replacing it LOL. Some good thoughts.. The iPod is a possibility. Would be good to have something that doesn't need to be powered on & off manually. I'll look into some of the other suggestions.. Really appreciate the suggestions. You guys really rock.. Nothing you can't do here. I bet if we wanted to launch a rocket in our backyard the folks here could put it together .. Best, Stan

Maybe slightly off topic but I would like to try to separate this out to a vehicle and not a phone if it is possible with one that does not have any built in bluetooth or technology. Anyone think of a way to do it? Not against adding something to the vehicle to make it happen if it is reasonable. Thinking to have the garage door open for the wife but not when we are together in a a vehicle that does not get garaged. Cheers, Stan

If it helps..There is a Amazon skill for it that you can link with the portal so you can voice control it.

I'm sure others more knowledgable will chime in but just to confirm you did not delete the PLM at any time correct? Do you have a saved backup prior to issues you had with the PLM and before changing? Did you check event viewer level 3 when performing the actions at the switches that are not working? How many switches are doing this and is it only the 8 buttons?

LOL! Yeah.. when ya start dreaming this stuff it's time to check into the clinic!

Hi Jim.. I am looking .. lots of options out there for kits. Looks like for about $70 I can get a complete kit with 32GB micro card (Amazon). I'm sure that sounds like enough space for what I'l ever come up with in any basic code. You should have seen my eyes light up from this thread when geofence smacked me in the face. And given I have mobilinc already it was just a matter of my brain engaging & processing these facts.. a few clicks and now my front door locks when I leave down the road (if I forget) and unlocks when I approach home.. My wife must think I'm nutz.. She asked how I learned this and I told her by reading from very smart folks here.. .. Thanks, Stan

Hey Jim.. Sorry.. I'm still a little new to the advanced automation features of the ISY and other integrated options out there... Since the Echo Voice integration it really changed things for me. I have had basics for years not realizing what was in front of me. To be honest I was not even aware of the geofence option until your thread. Been on here lately just trying to learn and topics such as yours are opening a whole new world to me. So my question was more simple as I started to make some basic ISY programs with the geofence and seeing that you could adjust your range to pretty much your immediate location, I was just wondering what I was missing. I am intrigued by yours and everyones ability here absorbing all the great info shared. It truly is fascinating the knowledge and creative thinking here and what is shared. Very cool. I am now looking into raspberry pi.. you may have created a monster .. Thank you for sharing.. Best, Stan

Hey guys/gals.. I'm just wondering what benefit does this has over just using geofence itself to trigger the OP ultimate action to unlock the door upon entering the range? Don't currently use raspberry pi or very familiar with it so thinking if it provides more functionality (I'm sure it does but just not sure of all the possibilities) then maybe it's time to look further into that setup in parallel.

Right On! More studying to do for me .. So much more I want to do.

Correct Andy.. so I may have to put parens around the entire second and/or statements.. thanks everyone.. you guys really rock! Maybe one day I'll be there .. Best, Stan
-
Thanks Paul.. I may have confused by all the ands initially.. I do only want either door to turn the light on. I believe I got the basics of it now with your explanation.. I'll try it during the normal program times and report if anything different other than success. I may have to put a parens in the last "or" statements possibly.. Either way it seems now I made the schedule change with parens it works there .. I set a different time just to test and it was working. Thanks again.. I tried the parens but never changed the "and" statements so weird it worked that way.. I figured something wasn't right the second schedule would not run. Really would not have expected the "and"s to work independently though so part of what threw me off initially I figure. Best, Stan
-
Thank you Paul.. the "and"s at the bottom actually work independently of each other for how I had the program last as shown here.. I thought the same thing when I first started to create it but it wasn't working at all so when I added "and" to each it did.. I can only think by not having the parens on the time somehow it worked.. So if I correct the time with the parens then would this be the right way for the "and"s? I'm sure this is easy for most of you but after searching and trying a few different options I'm still not making progress.. I am looking to make 1 program with two different schedules in it.. After multiple different attempts to use "or" statements I can only seem to get the first part of the schedule to run.. Meaning the 5PM to 11:59 works fine but the 5AM to 7AM won't trigger. I tried to even use a different part of the day for testing and I just can't seem to get the 2nd schedule to run. Do I have to make 2 separate programs with their own schedule? I can do that but figure it would be best to build one so less programs overall. Please do let me know your thoughts.. There are 3 separate doors on the rear of my home I want the lights to come on during these two windows when either door is opened. Maybe I'm off completely?
