genek Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 I have a new RemoteLinc that ISY finds and adds what appears to be a valid Insteon address to the network using the "Linc a Remotelinc" funtion but with the individual addresses in magenta, instead of blue like my lamplinc. When I click on one of the addresses the "Current State" field has nothing in it. Am I doing something wrong or what? I looked at the log file but none of the entries have the Insteon address that shows on the screen. Help I'm confused and don't know how to diagnose! OK an update - only the top left button doesn't work on the remote! All the other buttons are working! The "state" field stays blank until the first time the button is pressed but button #1 just doesn't respond. Do I have a bad remotelinc?
Brian H Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Magenta is the color indicating a Controller. Blue is a responder. All my RemoteLinc entries are the same. Also my SwitchLinc that has a local load and controls an ApplianceLinc. Is also Magenta. Also the RemoteLinc has a power saving feature. It powers down to a low power mode and will not respond to any requests unless in the linking mode. By holding the Bright and Dim buttons for 10 seconds and the LED is blinking.
genek Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 Thank you, Brian. It appears that the device is inconsistent when linking. It linked one time in four after several resets. But the best I can do is get all the buttons working except for #1! I'll wait to see if Smarthome wants to replace it. Thanks for taking the time to help!
jkraus Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 genek May not be the same issue I had, but when exiting the linking mode on the RL, make sure you DO NOT do it by hitting one of the number 1-6 keys, but rather by hitting the Bright key, otherwise I got some really strange results. This issue has been confirmed, hope it helps you (as I was also about to return my RL) Joe
Brian H Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Hitting the Bright Key to exit will toggle the audio beeper on and off. The All Off Button will toggle the LED on and off. I have done both myself. Then I read the users manual and found out what I did.
