Brian H Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I saw this mentioned by a Insteon dealer maybe two months back, on the X10 Forums. They are now showing on the Smarthome sales site. The paddle assembly on the 2477S On-Off Relay Switchlinc. Has been changed. It now only has two single light pipes, On and Off. All the light pipe positions that show light levels when used on a dimmer style are gone. It was suggested you could buy a paddle change kit and get the old style paddle assembly with all the light pipes on it. I don't think this would work. As the paddle change kits. Required you to remove the light pipes from the old one and use them on the new one. The new style does not have the full light pipe in it to be moved. The model number is the same just the paddle assembly has been changed. I would expect depending on existing stock in the warehouse. You may still get the older style or be surprised with a new style one. I just looked at the Smarthome Sales web site. On the top page of the site. There is an announcement of the updated paddle assembly.
Razemania Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Old is new. Anyone remember the Icon switches that had the single light? I still have a couple in my house (amazing) - that haven't gone dead. Unlike some Switchlincs and Keybadlincs. :-)
Brian H Posted October 9, 2018 Author Posted October 9, 2018 I have two 2476S modules in use since early 2006. I remember the Icons. They where a less feature Insteon Module. Though early one where rumored to really be a full function Insteon module. I have a few Icons in storage. Some had a Green LED and some an Amber LED.
carealtor Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 I wish they would have put their efforts into redesigning the mini remotes to match the wall switches.
MustangChris04 Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Just received a replacement Switchlinc and was surprised to only see two LEDs instead of a full light bar. This helps indicate if a switch is dimmable or not depending if there is a full light bar or not. I can't imagine anybody running out to change their switches to these new style paddles. I'd rather see some type of redesign of the switches to make them feel more solid like a lutron or leviton. Would also like to see keypads turned into an LED screen for each individual button so you can program the button labels and icons remotely rather than having to buy button kits or custom engraved buttons.
Brian H Posted February 24, 2019 Author Posted February 24, 2019 I saw a complaint on the Smarthome Forums. Seems they changed the plastic color on the Whites again. So now there are more differences between original , later and present white colors. They also indicated they where almost semi transparent and you could see shadows of the LEDs when in a darkened room. Administrator said QC was looking into it.

While one part of SH is concerned about that small of a detail, another section of the brain created a new Leak Detector with components sticking out past the cover, so it can never close.

At Christmas I bought over one hundred 2477S''s and 2477D's for a new house. Are they going to be the same color?

All would be nice. The question is whether or not enough people would want to pay what all these would cost. As it is, most people go for the cheapest device.
Brian H Posted February 24, 2019 Author Posted February 24, 2019 The 2477D dimmer version still has all of the LEDs as far as I can see. So now they actually have two different paddle assemblies. Use to able to buy one color change kit and it would fit either style. Well that is if the color change and light pipe kits are still being sold.

Maybe doing a sample of the ones you bought. Will give you more information.

Just getting around to installing them now.

Unfortunately in almost all cases there will be at least one of each next to each other. Can't do a comparison right now - they are in a storage locker 1000 miles away.
brians Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 The new paddles are interchangeable with old switches and vice-versa. You can also use light pipes on either or... just use the small ones from the kit on the new paddles. I just replaced a flakey older single-band switch with a new 2477S and reused the paddle from old switch on it because I have yellow light pipes and it looked funny in a 3 gang wall plate with its single LED holes alongside the older style.
Brian H Posted October 10, 2019 Author Posted October 10, 2019 Thank you for the added information. The new single LED style. Does sound like it would stick out when in a a ganged switch location and the rest where the ones using the old style LED graph.
