Already have an ISY but need some help getting started? Universal Devices will be holding an online training & demo for the ISY line of automation & energy conservation controllers. This first session will focus on basic topics. Some topics we'll be covering: - choosing a location for your ISY and PLM - basic setup and configuration of the ISY - using the ISY to manage your Insteon devices, create links/scenes - creating programs on the ISY - using the IR receiver to trigger programs - accessing your ISY over the internet - troubleshooting INSTEON communication issues - ... and more! Information on the ISY is available here: http://www.universal-devices.com/99i.htm The training & demo will run approximately 1-2 hours, depending on # of attendees, questions, etc. We're looking for suggestions on a time and day for the session. We are considering: - weekday evening (9pm EST/6pm PST) - weekend morning (11am EST/8am PST) - weekend evening (9pm EST/6pm PST) Please let us know your thoughts on a time/day, and also any particular topics you'd like to see covered. Feel free to reply to this thread, or email us at demos@universal-devices.com Once we get some feedback, we will announce the time and date for the session and information on signing up. Thanks!
bpwwer Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Great idea! I like to see "...and more!" I think some examples/demos of actual uses would be good. Things like garage door control, irrigation, motion sensors. I know there's a lot of information on these topics in the forum, but interactive sessions where the details can be more easily explained, I think would be helpful.
MikeB Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 Thanks for the feedback, Bob! I 100% agree, but think we should stick with the basics for the 1st session. Afterwards perhaps we can stagger sessions with different topics.
AnthemAVM Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Mike, I think this would be awesome and make our ISY that much better. Thanks for offering this service.
TomW Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Great idea. Weekday evenings would work best for me. I am just getting starting with my ISY-99i and could use some help with a device naming convention. Also some examples how to get started with setting up a room with a KeypadLinc, a RemoteLinc, and some LampLincs. Looking forward to the online training. /Tom

TJF1960 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Michael, Great Job. I am looking forward to more of these! Thanks again, Tim
stusviews Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Thanks, Mike. I really enjoyed and learned from the session. Do it again! Stu Retired H.S. Teacher Mathematics/Computer Science
MikeB Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 I wanted to thank everyone who was able to attend the training/demo today. I think it went fairly well, even if I did lose power here and we were in the dark for a minute or 2! We had a great turnout - at least 17 people attended (maybe more). I'm not certain yet if we'll be able to make the recording available. Either way, I'm considering creating a series of videos that would cover the same topics that were discussed today. I'll post more info ASAP. I'd also love to hear suggestions for future online sessions. Thanks again!

johnmsch Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Was this demo session recorded? I'm expecting my unit today and would love to watch the demo before I open the box!
MikeB Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 Hi John - Unfortunately not. We tried recording a previous session, but the quality wasn't there. I may try recording the next session, but we're also working on some short how-to videos that we'll have posted up.
johnmsch Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Thanks for the quick reply. Any plans on doing the demo again some time soon?
MikeB Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 I hope to do one within the next 30-45 days. Please keep an eye on this thread.
midrar Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 When do you guys plan on having some type of ISY99 Insteon Training session or webminar? Thanks
rmlinnovator Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Any where I could watch recorded trainings? Or are there any to be held in the future?
Michel Kohanim Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Hello rmlinnovator, Unfortunately we do not have any plans. This said, SmartHome has regular training sessions all of which include training on ISY as well. With kind regards, Michel
ritchcc Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Do you know yet when the next online training session will be. I'm seriously interested in getting completely away from SmartLinc and moving to the ISY994i. Anything I can learn about how to set it up and operate it as well as it's capabilities and interfaces will help. Thanks, Ritch
Michel Kohanim Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Hi Ritch, Unfortunately we have not planned any more on line training. In the meantime, I am certain you will find our training videos as informational. And, you can always call us with your questions. Please checkout the links under Instructional Videos. With kind regards, Michel
NivRam Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 4 years later... are these demo videos ready yet? NivRam
Michel Kohanim Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 NivRam, Did you actually click on the link? With kind regards, Michel
