ISY Portal Node Servers Question

With Polisy up and running, I activated the Portal subscription that comes with Polisy. While looking through the Wiki for instructions on how to connect the ISY to the Portal, I noticed instructions for connecting Node Servers to the Portal.

My question is, what is the advantage of connecting Node Server through the Portal? Some the Polisy runs on the local network, as does the ISY, why go outside the network to the Portal?

The ISY Portal subscription gives you access to Polyglot Cloud.  This is ISY or Polisy.
