Jason F Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 I'm setting up Insteon for a large property with 2 buildings -- about 400 feet apart. I have the internet networks joined together with a wireless bridge. On the Insteon side, I have an ISY and PLM in the main building, and would like to begin adding insteon to the secondary building. As I understand -- this is simply going to be outside of the range for actual insteon transmission -- would there be a way to put a Hub in the 2nd bulding, pair the insteon devices to that, but "pass" all control back to the ISY?
lilyoyo1 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 (edited) No. They are 2 different systems. It would be difficult but it is possible with 2 Isy's but you would really need to know what you're doing. If they share power, the Powerline signal could reach Edited November 28, 2020 by lilyoyo1
Jason F Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 Unfortunately they do not share power.
jwagner010 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Not a solution today but perhaps a node server could be written to connect multiple ISYs together. Polling interval could be set to appropriate level or program(s) written to query the NS on certain control triggers if real time status is important. Beyond my capabilities but maybe something UDI or someone with knowledge and time wants to consider.

I've no reason to or even ability to test this, but if you're using Z-Wave devices the ISY-Net nodeserver may do some of what you're looking for. If you're running Polyglot, go to the NodeServer Store and install the ISY-Net nodeserver. Might be a partial solution to your problem. https://github.com/simplextech/udi-poly-isynet
