I have had an ISY994i for a long time, but it had been spin storage for a year and a half and just got everything back up and running in a new house recently. The ISY, PLM, and one Insteon device are all that remains from the original system, and I have purchased and installed a number of new Insteon devices, including the MS-2.  I have the network module, but am not currently using it as everything has changed on the Sonos side and that is going to be a heavier lift for me.

Programs have not been running; at first I thought it was bad devices or PLM, or programming errors on my part.  Checking an ancient forum post, I realized the programs were not loaded with “out of memory” status on the programs summary pane. I have tried deleting all obsolete programs and devices, rebooting, upgrading firmware (now at 5.3) and anything else I could find to no avail.

The error log is not especially helpful for me; there are dhcp client errors, but nothing else that is obvious in meaning. Attached below.

Any advice on what to try now?

Not sure if you've tried them, or not, but some common things that have been known to fix "out of memory" problems:

  • Clear Java cache
  • Increase Java memory
  • Fixing mismatch between ISY firmware and IU versions

Make sure you re-save the affected programs once the obsolete devices references have been deleted from them.  Also, any programs that used the "Adjust Scene" functionality need to be modified/updated or they will display the "Out of Memory" error.

It appears I did have a mismatch between firmware and UI versions.  Unfortunately, after clearing the cache, re-downloading start.jnlp, and running the launcher the admin console does not work at all for me.  On my "desktop" raspberry pi 4, it will allow one click of either dashboard or admin console, but nothing happens.  On my Macbook Air the launcher will not even start.  (Current versions of java everywhere.)

Everything was re-saved in the older UI, but I cannot access any UI now.

Seems to have worked itself out.  I followed the PLM reboot/reset procedure, rebooted the ISY again, "installed" the admin console from the device web page, and saved all changes and things started to work properly again, with all UIs and info showing 5.3.0 on my Raspberry Pi.

HOWEVER, the start.jnlp ISY (https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp) still does not work-- only admin.jnlp (https://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/5.3.0" href="admin.jnlp).  I'm not sure if I missed something with start.jnlp being depricated, but I thought the purpose was for it to select the correct applet.
