Selling ISY994, Polisy & Devices

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

Two questions:

Are there any restrictions for me to sell my ISY or Polisy?

Any place you recommend for selling?

Thanks all!

Threads selling items appear periodically in the Coffee Shop section of the forum.

One restriction is that you have to identify what you will be replacing them with.

Make sure you announce the PLM if you have one. People will be interested!!

If they're smart they won't sell the PLM as a single device unless it's for a premium....

I don't think they have a PLM to sell. Noticed they said a while back the system got hit by lightening and knocked out the PLM. Since they can't find one for sale they're probably ditching the rest of the ISY/Polisy side of the system.

Saw this post about the hit.

Thanks all!  I’ll post everything in the Coffee Shop once I replace everything.

Unfortunately, the PLM is no longer operational.  I’ve gone through quite a few of them over the years but this last one went down from a direct lightening hit to the house.  I do have the USB version but most do not need that model.  Smarthome has no ETA on the 2413s and I’m not so hot at soldering.

I was attempting to use the Polisy in hopes to limp along but it’s not quite there yet to fully support everything I had running or need.

At this point I’m just going to simplify my automation needs to zwave and zigbee with the Hubitat as the controller.  It integrates into what I need.

I will miss Insteon and some of the devices but at this point I’m ready for simplicity and devices I can actually order.

You should spend some time on their forum reading about the z-wave issues... just saying.... their Zigbee implementation for ZHA is pretty good.

@jellis,

The only restriction from UD side is to let them know that warranty is only one year from the date of YOUR purchase.

And, more importantly, we do not offer support/training/migration help. The only reason I am saying this is because of many calls we get when someone buys a new house with ISY in there and expects us to walk through everything and offer training and support.

Good luck.

With kind regards,
Michel

I was interested by your recommendation of Hubitate so did a bit of reading.

I guess it depends on the size of your house but running multiple hubs for zwave could be a pain and could get expensive. The zigbee implementation sounds more interesting but I'm not sure how well supported it is by the device manufacturers.

The controller implementation is not pretty - won't say more because I actually haven't had a hands on.

Insteon's mesh implementation is rock solid but the PLM really really lets the system integrity down.  And the X10 BS needs to be deleted.

This said I might get one to play around with....

Will do!  The device does seem to be clunky in certain regards per my readings.  I did end up purchasing one and had my new zwave devices up an running very quickly.  So far it has been reliabe albeit on a limited installation and not much time has gone by.  I am questioning selling the ISY in case I do run into issues so I might keep that.

Currently, I have 1 hub in a 2500 sq ft house and it is running 3 yale locks with only a couple of switches with a single hub.  Not sure in my situtaiton I would need another hub.  I was able to quickly, without alot of codeing/reading, get a nice looking dashboard up as well for my in wall ipads so that was nice.

Insteon has definately been rock solid but the inability to get a communicaiton device/radio makes the whole thing inopererable.  Alot of money in devices just hanging out sadly.

Like I mentioned I'll probably keep the ISY in case Hubitat doesn't end up panning out. It's bittersweet to say the least.
