They did have regular sales but seem to be increasing in frequency. It definitely is another indicator but not a good one by itself. Link to comment

It definitely is another indicator but not a good one by itself. I checked my folder.... fall sales were a thing in the past, just not in 2020. Having enough inventory to put on sale is a good sign. A 30% off for some items also doesn't smell like liquidation... because the goal would be to extract as much value as possible out of all remaining inventory. So things that move at a good clip wouldn't go on sale, they'd hold the prices, and you'd see fire sales on things that don't move (which currently aren't in stock anyway). Link to comment

As others noted I really wish some of the other accessories were still available to purchase like their leak sensors. Maybe 2022 will see a return of a few of these core items along with a final upgrade to the I/O Linc!Almost pushing 15 years and they (Insteon) still refuse to update this critical piece of hardware?!? In other words, manufacturing continues. Specifically, high wattage dimmers are now available again. EDIT: Also, I'm pretty sure the fanlincs were formally sold out and are now listed as available. I did place an order for 5 of the high wattage dimmers and it went through. I'll know shortly if it ships. Link to comment

The high wattage dimmers aren't the only thing - even if manufacturing is paused, the supply chain continues. I'm quite curious where the holdup is (academically, it doesn't change anything for me), as the Insteon chips use much more mature processes on the fab level that aren't strapped for capacity. I know this was a problem in the past but some in the know always affirmed their system was FIFO. Which honestly didn’t believe to be 100% accurate.That was a problem for me many years ago as a unit failed and they came back and said it’s out of warranty and not covered. Of course I’m too smart to not have protection and made a opening video which clearly showed the contents, invoice, and production dates. Smarthome at that time obviously had to offer warranty but it goes to show you clearing the bins FIFO isn’t a high priority for some of them! Link to comment

If they've been sitting with this inventory for that many years there's a good possibility they won't order more production. It will be interesting to see what they do with their Nokia branded products, and whether they will be compatible with the Insteon legacy products. Reminds me of when X10 went bankrupt in 2003That makes a little more sense as many people purchase the stand alone version and simply integrate the I/O or purchase their own sensor. As the one included operates backwards to what a person would expect. Now, if someone received a switch with a 2013 - 2017 production date code that would be really disappointing. If people buy from other online vendors it’s going to be a mixed bag as they will receive what ever sells at the time.That’s what happen with a large Best Buy / Staples purchase I made too. As everything was from 2013 - 2015 but was purchased in 2017 and a few items were DOA so was a challenge to get warranty but was resolved later. Link to comment

It will be interesting to see what the new owner of Smartlabs does with the Nokia arrangement... assuming Richmond Capital can even find a buyer. Link to comment
