Polyglot cloud stopped working?

Recommended Posts

I can't seem to access the dashboard on my polyglot cloud account. I just get the spinning loading symbol indefinitely. I use PGC for the Nest node server.. and it out of the blue stopped receiving data. I logged into PGC to see what I could see and couldn't get the dashboard to load. Also my ISYs aren't listed under the ISY drop down at the top right.

Is anyone else having problems, or any suggestions?

Thanks!

The very first link at the top of the forums has a message from UDI stating that PGC has been temporarily shut down due to a  security vulnerability. You should have also received an email saying the same thing

I would be pleased if someone would either give a periodic update or let us know when to expect an update as to when those nodeservers will be available either on PGC or the Polisy nodeserver.  I'm using the PCG Sonos Controller written by Simplextech which has more features (e.g., playlists) than the one on the Polisy nodeserver.  I understand mine is a 1st world problem!

Newb here.  I'm not sure why there are 3 nodeservers (PCG, Polisy, PG3).  Do the NS's have to be written differently for each?

Thank you,

Ross

@adamthp

As @lilyoyo1 pointed out...please see this post:

@Ross - This request would be best sent to support@universal-devices.com and suggest that updates be posted if/when available.

As far as releases for new node servers that is typically left up to the developer and will usually be found in their respective forums/threads elsewhere on this site.

The simple/quick reason for the different sections has been development of the polyglot system. There is a difference  in programming between PGC/PG2 and the current PG3. There are differences for each platform. Some node servers appear to have been simple to port over to PG3, but others are taking longer if the developer is even active with support/development. PG3 was developed to allow the node server developers to get paid for their efforts and support. In the past PGC/PG2 were free and developers designed for pleasure and supported without any financial support for their efforts.

If there are specific node servers you are interested in please post in the threads for their product (either in PGC or PG2 areas) or even if there's an available sub-forum in PG3 to ask about future releases. You can also follow those forums and get emails (or forum notifications) when there is activity in the forum you are following.

They already do that. One just has to read them. You'll usually find major announcements on the very top post on the forum homepage. News concerning individual nodeservers are generally found on the actually nodeserver page.

Yes, PGC is for cloud based nodeservers. Pg2 is for RPI based nodeservers which most likely will not be supported going forward (unless the individual developer chooses to). PG3 is for Polisy based Nodeservers

lilyoyo1,

Regarding the security issue and shutdown of PCG, I have not seen an update nor any indication of when an update may be forthcoming.  I understand I have to read them; however, the official announcement by Michael has 0 replies.  That's why I jumped to this topic because it's the only other one I've found that was in the same boat.  I will keep looking.

I get that many answers are "somewhere in the forum"; but, unfortunately for casual users, it's not always innate for us to know where to look for things in the forum.  The answer could be on the 18th page of 28.

I have read many of your posts (not all 5,400 of them) and I appreciate your contributions to this board.   I also realize that I may be the only one with my issue.  I've already posted a comment to the developer on, I believe, the appropriate board and I need to have patience for the response.

Thank you,

Ross

@Ross  I'm certain UDI is doing what it can to bring back PCG... however reading between the lines I'm guessing that the interruption might be longer than shorter.  I base my guess on two facts, UDI discounted Polisy's and provided additional discount for users of two nodeservers not available locally.  Second, the original developer of the PCG infrastructure is no longer around.

The above opinion is mine alone and has not been stated by UDI in any form.

Carealtor,

Have you heard of the dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac?

He stayed up all night wondering if there was a dog.

I would go back and edit my mistake, but then no one would understand the context of this post.

Thanks,

Ross

There are no updates for them to issue at this time. Once they have a better idea about things and get it back up, THEN and only then will they update us. As MrBill stated (I concur with his reasons), I highly doubt it will be a quick fix. This is mainly due to them wanting to ensure that something like this doesn't happen again.

Yes, I'm aware it's hard for causal users to keep up but then again, if a user is so casual they don't receive the emails and miss the very first post on the forum, they'll probably miss subsequent updates and details as they come in the future as well

The reason there are 0 replies to the announcement is exactly that. It was an announcement and is in the announcement forum. It shouldn't be a discussion thread. That's what this area is for. However, this thread is a good case-in-point that even when the information is given in an announcement form that posts are blindly made asking the question about what is going on.

When/if there are updates I'm sure they will be posted either as an update to that post or as another announcement/post with additional information.

For the time being let's just hope if there's a way that it can be corrected and turned back on perhaps somebody is working on that. But pure speculation and personal feeling would be that most energy is currently being focused on PG3 development and continued development of IoP and other Polisy development. I, like @MrBill, see this may mark the end of PGC. But again, only my own feeling about the issue. Would like to be proven wrong, but time will tell.

Last note: to "tag" somebody make sure you start it with the @ sign then start typing the name and SELECT the person you want to tag from the list that appears.

List appearance     ->       image.png

either click on the name with your mouse/cursor or can use the down arrow to select it and hit enter. This way @Geddy would be highlighted and it will send an alert to the user through the notification similar to using them in a quote block. So when I tag ( @Ross) you might get 2 notifications since I also quoted you in the block above. Just letting you know in case you didn't know before.

So I'm using a local Polyglot on a Pi and want to remove the reference to the PGC entirely.....but not sure how I can do that now that the PGC UI has been disabled.  Thoughts?  I want to get rid of the PGC based Sonos.

in the admin console... At the top choose "Node servers" then "configure" then the appropriate "slot" that contains the Sonos node server, then on the resulting pop up window click the delete button.  then restart the admin console.
