Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 I updated my ISY994i firmware to version 5.3.0 and no programs run as developed in the Administrative Console. I get the error shown "not implemented". In searching this site I see I must now update my UI to a similar version (photo shows I am now running v.4.7.3). I cannot update using the manual update option in the UI, as I get in a loop of saving my file but not moving into an update option. Can someone provide instructions as to what version I should update the UI to, and how to implement the update? Perhaps a link to the software download? Help is much appreciated. First time using this forum.....
drprm1 Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 (edited) Clear you java cache then go to this link to start AC https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp Edited February 16, 2022 by drprm1
lilyoyo1 Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 (edited) You must read AND follow the instructions exactly as it says on the 5.3 download page. Clear your Java cache and use the launcher found on the 5.3 page Edited February 16, 2022 by lilyoyo1
Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Can you send the link to that download page? I may have found a link to a file but it contains only a driver and no instructions to follow. THX
MrBill Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 @DPhelps Your specific problem is that you are using UI version 4.7.3 with 5.3.0 firmware. They must match exactly. clear your java cache including installed "Applications and Applets". If you're using windows install the ISY Launcher from this thread. It's unclear why you are installing 5.3.0... it's old and deprecated. You should be installing 5.3.4. However.. don't do that until you get your UI version issue resolved as it is now, then install 5.3.4.
Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Thanks so much... I followed the thread and found the link early on. I cleared my Java Cache as instructed including Installed Applications and Applets. I then used the link provided and it restarted Java and the launcher. I chose the admin console and logged in. I still get my state UI v.4.7.3. I see the thread no longer posts so I ask here if you have any thoughts. Thanks as I am stuck for sure!
MrBill Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 @DPhelps Before we go any further with specific instructions, are you using Windows, MacOS or something else?
Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Windows 10 on Lenovo PC. Current with updates. THX
Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 I also have a PLM Serial Modem #2413S. Some threads suggest I need to download a version with that in mind

Either you aren't following the directions or something is very wrong. The ISY launcher works correctly with Windows (it's some macOS users that seem to have issues with the ISY Launcher, which was the basis for the question above). 1 - clear the java cache again including installed Applications and Applets. 2 - Delete any and all files you have named admin.jnlp or start.jnlp. (perhaps this is where the confusion is coming from). 3 - click the link https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp and save the file. 4 - click the file downloaded above. the first time Start.jnlp is run it will install and icon called "ISY Launcher" on your desktop. This is the ISY Launcher icon and is different from start.jnlp, however it is installed by start.jnlp. One of the design elements of the ISY Launcher is that it always starts the correct version matched admin console. Please note, files named start.jnlp install the launcher icon on the windows desktop, they are not themselves the ISY Launcher. Files named admin.jnlp are associated with specific versions of the firmware. This is the old method, which was replaced by the ISY Launcher. Specific versions of admin.jnlp console must be manually downloaded and installed for each ISY firmware version. The Launcher replaces the need for admin.jnlp Edited February 16, 2022 by MrBill 1
Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Thank you for all your help. I think I have a problem here... I will walk you through my entire process: I cleared the cache as shown (several times!) I then searched my entire drive for *.pnlp files and confirmed there were none as shown below: I then used your link to get the new start.pnlp file and clicked on that. I clicked on the newly placed ISY Launcher icon on my home screen and logged into my system but the Version of the UI is unchanged and does not match my Firmware. ANY help remains greatly appreciated!!!
Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Sorry for my typo above. Per the screen shot, I searched my drive for *.JNLP files and found none. Could I need a different start file when using a serial modem? I saw somewhere in my searching that that was a possible issue. Thx
tmorse305 Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 You seem to be following the correct steps. Is your Java up to date? Have you tried to reboot your 994 to see if that helps? Just throwing out some other ideas.
Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Java is up to date. Rebooted the 944 yesterday. I noticed that I can turn my lights on using alexa, but not by using the Admin Console. However, when Alexa turns on/off the lights, I can see in the console that they are on/off (hmmmmm). I just unplugged my 944 and my PLM (serial modem) then reset them. Now I am going through the Restore Modem (PLM) option to see if that helps. So, as I can see the lights are reported to be on when I turn them on manually or via Alexa. If I try to turn them on via the Admin Console, they show as if they are on in the interface but the lights are not on. That is why I tried to restore the PLM - but it did not help!
Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Please disregard my last post about alexa vs the admin console. I can turn on lights now per my console, so I am back to the original issue - my programs will not run, probably due to the fact that I cannot update my UI to the same version as my 944 firmware......

MrBill Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 14 minutes ago, lilyoyo1 said: I'd submit a ticket I agree... email support@universal-devices.com PS... it's .jnlp files. (not .pnlp) that you want to get rid of and per your screenshots above that could be an issue... the (1) tells me that you have a start.jnlp already in that folder/directory... which are you running the start.jnlp version or the start (1).jnlp version? If you're actually running start.jnlp it may be a very old file that doesn't install the correct launcher.
Pete C Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Thanks so much! I did see my typo regarding the file extension. I searched my drive to confirm there are not older start.jnlp files and then I saved and ran the one from the link you sent. I'll submit the ticket. I really appreciate your time and effort!
Geddy Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 @DPhelps - just checking in to see that support got you squared away with the update. Hopefully you're all good and matching User Interface (UI) and Firmware (FW) versions. Welcome to the forums!
Pete C Posted February 18, 2022 Author Posted February 18, 2022 Yes!!! I am squared away. Thanks to the help of the community and the result of a support ticket. It was easy - in hindsight. I guess that is often the case. This forum is greatly appreciated as I start my journey into the system. 1
