Port Forward / ISY Portal

This past week, I have been reading as much info as possible in preparation for the installation of IoP….which should be delivered tomorrow. Yay! There is a section and video about Port Forwarding, but can someone confirm this is not needed if you subscribe to the ISY Portal? I am not an IT guy, but isn’t port forwarding used if you aren’t interested in a cloud service? The only time I recall setting up Port Forwarding is before Insteon offered the Hub 10 years ago.

Port forwarding is not needed for ISY Portal,  the ISY/Polisy will call out to the portal to establish a connection.

Thanks for confirming. My thought was that not everybody wants the ISY Portal subscription, so they Port Forward for remote access.

Yeah I used port forwarding a lot but the ISY portal is so easy, full of features, cheap, and safer.

I also plan to use the ISY portal for the same reasons.

I subscribe to the ISY portal but that’s not how I access it remotely.  I have a reverse proxy set up on my router and access the ISY remotely via a URL on port 443 (which is open anyway).
