When I click on Download, nothing happens.  Does the backup default to a specific folder in Windows?  I would expect it to ask me where I want the download to be placed.

I'm using Microsoft Edge browser and I get a popup when doing the Backup which then allows me to set the name and location for the zip file.

That is what I expected, but I do not get that.

If on a PC, check the download folder.  I don't get a prompt either but it saves it in the download folder.  I'm using Firefox.

Nothing in the downloaded folder.  I click on the download button and nothing happens.

What version of PG3 are you running?  Have you tried a restart of PG3?

  • Author

3.1.11, which I believe is the latest version.

Yes, I have restarted PG3.

Backup still doesn't work.

Any errors in the log file?

Mine says:

10/21/2022, 18:32:03 [pg3] info: Starting Backup Creation
10/21/2022, 18:32:05 [pg3] info: Backup Successful

Did you give permission to download the files? The attached image shows what I see when  backing up PG3.

I have the following in the log file.  Looks like it is getting an error.

Might be time for a support ticket.

Backup: TypeError [ERR_INVALID_CHAR]

Do you, by chance have any strange characters in your Polisy name? Any punctuation or characters that might make a file name invalid?

Something seems to be triggering the backup to fail because of an invalid character. I wonder if might be in the Polisy name since it doesn't seem to even get to the node server level to backup.

Just ran a backup in Chrome and this is in my log:

10/22/2022, 16:00:16 [pg3] info: Starting Backup Creation
10/22/2022, 16:00:16 [pg3] debug: Creating DB Backup...

10/22/2022, 16:00:16 [pg3] debug: Backing up node servers
10/22/2022, 16:00:16 [pg3] debug: All node servers added to backup -- finalizing
10/22/2022, 16:00:16 [pg3] debug: Removing Backup Archive from filesystem after download
10/22/2022, 16:00:16 [pg3] info: Backup Successful

Please post back once you get help from support to tell us what resolved the issue.

I am unable to download a backup of my PG3. Settings>Polyglot Settings. There is the button there, and it darkens when my cursor goes over it, popup help appears on hover, ring highlights around it when clicked, but nothing happens. @Illusion moved your post above into this thread as it appears to be your same issue. Please review replies above.

@Chris McKean did you get help from your support ticket? What resolved your problem? Please update here so it might help others.

This has not been resolved yet.  I'm working on it but I've been unable to reproduce the issues on my end.

This issues is fixed in version 3.1.12, see the release announcement for the list of fixes in this version.  It is available now.
