Firmware upgrade uncertainty

I am running v 4.9.0 on an ISY994i. I only use Insteon devices and have about 50 of them. I use lots of scenes but only have just a few basic programs.

Should I upgrade my ISY firmware? If yes, which version should I upgrade to.

Thanks for the advice.

About halfway down this page you'll find a similar question as this. Someone commented with the upgrade link along with additional pertinent information.

You can also find it by going to the main page under software releases.

Personal preference. Not required to update if you aren't considering changing what you're doing.

The current Firmware would be 5.3.4. There are some significant steps to read through, but if what you're saying is that you have a fairly basic list of programs then it would probably be easy to upgrade.

My tip for anybody upgrading to 5.3.4 is to copy your programs to Notepad (or any plain text editor) by right clicking on the root program directory and selecting "Copy to Clipboard" (last option on that menu). Paste that into the text editor and save it so you have all the data needed to repair/replace any programs that might get messed up in the process. Mostly just "adjust scene" programs needed a lot of manual help. Others were fine, but disabled programs sometimes become enabled so you would need to know what to disable again.

If you're staying with the ISY994 and not running a Polisy or eisy to put node servers into play then 4.9 is just fine. If you're wanting to try out UD Mobile then you would need to upgrade to 5.3.4. But mostly that's your call.
