ISY on Polisy went down 2 weeks ago...

I'm at a loss right now, I can't the the java console to connect to my PolISY in any way.  I can reach the Polisy dashboard though.  Can't get it to boot ISY.  Tried all the java clean out and reinstall tricks, hard rebooted... nothing.  What do I do?  I see nothing useful in the wiki at this point.

Do you know the ip address of your polisy ?

Yep, sure do.  I can reach it through the dashboard url, but unreachable through the java console at all.

Is the Polisy "on the way out"? Should I just be upgrading to the new eisy? (i haven't done enough research on it yet to determine if it is, in fact, an upgrade)

Eventually, but that's not the problem today.  Say more about what is happening.  Does the launcher appear?  Does it populate with the proper credentials for your polisy?  If so what happens when you try to launch the AC?

Launcher appears but doesn't find any ISY/Polisy devices.  Even when manually adding them it fails to find them.

Can you access the polisy via terminal ?

It runs a linux kernal so that would tell you the system is running and such. Don't do any updates using the terminal....

When you said earlier that you could reach the Polisy dashboard did you mean via this url:

https://<ip address>:3000/dashboard

What are you entering for the credentials when the launcher appears?  Have you tried both https and http?  The standard ports are 8443 and 8080 respectively unless you changed them.

Correct, I can reach that portal.  I see the ISY configured, but it fails to send even a restart control to it.

I don't even get far enough to enter credentials.

Yes, I can ssh to it, but the login I use for other management stuff doesn't work.

I think it's time to open a ticket.

Thanks for trying guys, much appreciated.  Ticket time!

Let us know how they resolve it for you.

What do you see if you try https://<ip address>:8443/desc ? Anything?

Yeah, I get the XML

So it seems you can get to IoX. When you use ISY launcher, click Add that put exactly the url you've just tried. If you see it showing up with firmware version, you should be able to open AC.

Are you using a VPN or antivirus software?

Have you followed these directions from the wiki:

Can't Find eisy

First and foremost, all VPN software block discovery of eisy on your network. As such, if you have a VPN software running, please turn it off.

If you have a modern router, eisy advertises itself as eisy.local on your network. As such, and in most cases, you should be able to find eisy at https://eisy.local:8443/desc. What you need to do is:

  1. In IoX Launcher, click on the Add button
  2. Enter https://eisy.local:8443/desc into the dialog
  3. Click on the OK button

If you are still having a hard time finding your eisy, it's best to check your router's DHCP client list and look for a device that has the same MAC address as the one the label at the bottom of your eisy. eisy's MAC address starts with 00:21:b9.

Once you find the IP address for eisy, in this example, 192.168.1.122, then

  1. In IoX Launcher, click on the Add button
  2. Enter https://192.168.1.122:8443/desc into the dialog. Note 192.168.1.122 is an example. You should use the IP address for your eisy.
  3. Click on the OK button

Michael responded.  It sounds like I've got really old OS on it (I bought it beta era) and need to reflash it to get it up to snuff.  So I'll get crackin on that when i find my msata-usb adapter!

Got the thing reflashed and got the ISY back online.  Polyglot3 is all sorts of messed up and I can't get it to reconnect to the ISY though.  I need to find out how to set that part back to factory or something.

Try the setup found in the wiki: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Polisy:User_Guide#ISYs

What PG3 version are you running? I think Polisy is still on 3.1.17. Make sure you add your ISY admin user and password.

Otherwise, what's "all sorts of messed up"?

Yeah it's in this state in the PG3 site.  Is disconnected from ISY, but won't find the ISY automatically or when specified manually. (with http, or https.  I've verified ports in the ISY console.

It says a restart is required, but when I initiate it, it doesn't seem to happen.  even rebooting the entire Polisy doesn't resolve that part.

It doesn't seem like any configuration changes i make in the PG3 settings stick at all.

I *can* connect to the ISY through Finder now though, it found it automatically after the flash.

Just to verify, you are entering the same username and password you use to access your Polisy and you are selecting http at the bottom of the entries?

@Methos000, is your ticket still open?  I had a similar issue with my PG3 after an IoX upgrade.  Michel suggested 2 ssh commands which resolved the problem.  I could give you those but probably better to ask him since my situation was not exactly the same as yours.

Yeah, it is, i'll dig it up and ask him. :)  Ty!

Yes I am!

The quickest way to resolve this would be with a ticket, as you already indicated above. Another idea is to flag @bpwwerand see if he has any ideas.

@Methos000 Your PG3 version and frontend version are out of sync. You'll need the help from support to get things brought up to current versions for the Polisy.
