Wes Westhaver Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 (edited) Can someone tell me where I can find information about the network module for the ISY994i? I'd like to know what functionally it provides. Thanks in advance. -Wes Edited February 26, 2023 by Wes Westhaver
Geddy Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 @Wes Westhaver I’m not sure if you can still add the Network Module. I know it’s now included if you get the ISY Portal license. So if you already have an active portal license you should have the same network module function. But here is the info you’re asking about: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-994i_Series_INSTEON:Networking (some info might be outdated or written for old firmware versions, but most functionality should still be there.)
Wes Westhaver Posted February 26, 2023 Author Posted February 26, 2023 (edited) Bummer! I just noticed that the"purchase modules" page no longer works. When did it get shut down? It seems that I'm always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to my dealings with UDI. So is it actually impossible to obtain the network module now? I finally have an actual need for it. -Wes Edited February 26, 2023 by Wes Westhaver
DennisC Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 ISY is past end of life. Support for it ends soon, maybe end of year(?). There will be no further development for it. Time to start thinking about an upgrade.

I understand that the ISY994i is at EOL, but wanting to add the network module is not asking for further development. Unlike the Z-Wave add-on PCB which has to be manufactured, the Network Module is software and should be available as long as there are ISY994i's that might need it.
Techman Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 @Wes Westhaver Click on help, manage modules. There should be an option to purchase the network module (which is a software update).

Techman Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Try sending an email to support@universal-devices.com
Brian H Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 The ISY994i discontinued indicates you can purchase modules until 06/01/2022. So I would second contacting UDI. As the procedure was changed awhile back. I purchased some for my back up ISY994i a few weeks back. https://www.universal-devices.com/byebye994/ 1
Solution Geddy Posted February 26, 2023 Solution Posted February 26, 2023 @Wes Westhaver If you log into your account at Universal Devices website you can manage modules for your devices there. It might allow you to buy through the site that way. Otherwise, try sales@universal-devices.com Or you could open a support ticket via: https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets Be sure to include your UUID for the ISY994 you want to add the module to. Honestly though, ISY Portal is a steal for what it offers you. $23 for the first 2 years, then $20 for 2 year renewals. You get the Network Module as well as UR Mobile (for 5.x+), Alexa, Google Voice, Remote Access (no need to open ports on home network), and other options. All for less than $1/month! https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page#ISY_Portal:_Integration_with_Amazon_Echo/Google_Home/IFTTT (FYI @Techman the support email might not reach anybody (I haven't tried it lately), but it's not the suggested rout for support tickets now. Something went "wonky" sometime in the last few months.)

Earlier I sent UDI a couple of emails (which they can now discard.) The Network Module is now appearing in my UDI Admin Console. Yay! I need to interface my ISY994i with some software I'm writing that runs on a couple of Linux boxes and the network module looks to be the key to accomplishing this. Now I'm off to do some experimentation! Thanks again, -Wes Edited February 26, 2023 by Wes Westhaver 2
Wes Westhaver Posted April 11, 2023 Author Posted April 11, 2023 (edited) I just wanted to follow up and say that the network module is working great! The software I wrote (a REST service running on a couple of Raspberry Pi's) is responding nicely to the ISY994i network module requests. My scenario is this: I have a Raspberry Pi 4 acting as a media center driving a wall mounted flat screen TV. The TV is connected to the Raspberry Pi via an HDMI cable. The Raspberry Pi is always ON and controls the TV's ON/OFF state via HDMI-CEC. I can now have the ISY994i issue a network request to the REST service running on the Raspberry Pi and the Raspberry Pi will turn the TV On/Off. So now I have a bedside console that commands the ISY994i which then commands the Raspberry Pi which then commands the TV. It is a few hops to get the job done but it works well. -Wes Edited April 11, 2023 by Wes Westhaver
