SSS Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Just to follow up as the original forum is closed… any update ? 1
elvisimprsntr Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) @SSS Since there is no official package for FreeBSD, I suspect it will be awhile. I suggest you spin up a bare metal Linux distro, VM, or Docker container. https://homebridge.io/how-to-install-homebridge Edited November 7, 2023 by elvisimprsntr
Michel Kohanim Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 All, an update. It's definitely doable and it does not require FreeBSD version because it's node.js/javascript/typescript based. We did get it to work but the overhead is just way too high and there's no clean integration that we could come up with. One of our customers is working on a streamlined version. So, we have not given up and please stay tuned. With kind regards, Michel 3 1

SSS Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 So what is the other approach, our ultimate goal is to see natively connected devices in eisy into HomeKit without the need for any external hub, bridge, plugins etc…I can imagine if Insteon hub comes out first with HomeKit compatibility or matter support and say if all Insteon devices are now visible in HomeKit/Smarthings etc etc @ all matter Eco system, eisy will start to lose ground big time…(see my other post on eisy Matter support)
Michel Kohanim Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 @SSS, Using native HomeKit support through the Matter protocol (no, you do not need ZMatter). We are working on the details. With kind regards, Michel 2
SSS Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 So this will be just like the Hue Hub with Matter support, all devices connected to Hue Hub are not Matter compatible but the Hub works as the bridge, it works like a charm, l have Hue devices and 3rd party Zigbee devices all that is needed is that they work with Hue Hub and wow they all all show up in HomeKit…l hope something similar And as you know my setup, once in HomeKit, it takes into Roomie Remote one of the best custom interface apps out in the market. What is the ETA?
Michel Kohanim Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Hi SSS, Very similar. Please stay tuned. With kind regards, Michel

What is the ETA? Looked at the roomie app in the App Store and noticed update 2 weeks ago says “UD ISY Optimized”. Doesn’t mention EISY but what is current problem with EISY and Roomie?
SSS Posted November 14, 2023 Author Posted November 14, 2023 No issues for RR with eisy, l wish to see all Insteon / eisy devices in HomeKit…as well. In reality there is no one app that can meet all needs, HomeKit and RR together is almost 99.99% of all HA need as far as I can think…RR is a grewt platform for integrating multiple platforms, device, different protocols etc…HK has some cool GUI, like if you have one too many hue lights, changing and setting colors RR lacks color interface
Kentinada Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Is there any new news on this? I really want to be able control HomeKit compatible devices I have installed with programs from my new Eisy. I just don't see a way right now to connect the two environments. Is that true?
Michel Kohanim Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 @Kentinada, yes very close. With kind regards, Michel 5
Mark Sanctuary Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Always good news when the UDI team has a new development "very close" to ready. Looking forward to seeing the new HomeKit support.
JGehrke Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Moving to eisy tomorrow. Is there any update on HomeKit timeframe? Really glad to hear you are working on it.
SSS Posted December 28, 2023 Author Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) Yes, very eager to know the launch date and more eager to know what solution type are you working on, native support, third party via polygot, node server, hoobs/home assistant etc… hope it’s native support without the need for any other hub or reliance on third party. GHenry Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Responsible people and companies usually want to limit expectations and avoid over-promising. That’s a good thing! My guess is that you won’t see it coming, but you’ll hear about it after the fact. Patience! 2
SSS Posted December 29, 2023 Author Posted December 29, 2023 Agree 100% but it would be nice if the plans are shared such that we know the direction they are going and get some sort of feedback if it works / desired by most of the end customers…as UD mentioned they went in a different direction but changed to a different direction now so some awareness could be useful @ friendly feedback…for instance if they are going the homebridge route its will be a no no, the world is moving away from multiple hubs to just one hub or no hub at all.
Kentinada Posted January 11 Posted January 11 @Michel Kohanim I'm sure you get asking this a lot but can you give us any sort of guess on HomeKit integration availability? I went down the HA Green path but it adds too much complexity for me.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 12 Posted January 12 @Kentinada, So sorry for the delay. There was a breaking change in the library we used, and we are just recovering from it now. With kind regards, Michel
SSS Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Is there an ETA also please share if possible any details on what platform you are working on ?
Chioti Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Sorry to ask the same question, but I can't upgrade from my 994 to an eisy without confirmation of homekit availability and that my devices (especially my garage doors) will all be available.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 24 Posted January 24 @Chioti, still working on it. So sorry for the delay. With kind regards, Michel
vspete Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) @Michel Kohanim, thanks for the update. I have been using both "Isy js" and "Isy Maker" on Homebridge to provide homekit support for everything running on the isy (now eisy). I am looking forward to a native solution and one that hopefully doesn't require using state variables to interface with isy/eisy programs. Thanks for all your efforts. BR/Pete Edited January 26 by vspete
Michel Kohanim Posted January 26 Posted January 26 @vspete, Thank you for the feedback. We started with HomeBridge but it was way too resource intensive. I am hoping we can get something out quickly. With kind regards, Michel 1
