fisix Posted January 2 Posted January 2 hi folks, i'm fairly new to the eisy. i upgraded (seamlessly from a 994i, still in use to access an encrypted zigbee link to my power meter) to the eisy mainly because the networking portal service was ending for the 994i. i remember something about text messaging costing a lot to maintain, and making that whole process more efficient being part of the push to the new hardware. i still use the text messaging to get push notices when certain things happen around the house, but the timeliness of the sms is more miss than hit of late, both before and after the recent database server shutdown (so, i don't think my issues are related to stuff that's happened since Dec. 27 or so). also, email messaging isn't something i believe i can use or rely upon. is there a push notification mechanism that's better than legacy SMS from the eisy? maybe i need to update something post-transition that i haven't updated yet? any help or suggestions for workarounds is appreciated. lack of timely event-driven push notifications in some form or fashion is a fairly significant devaluation event for my uses. Techman Posted January 3 Posted January 3 A lot of the wireless carriers are blocking SMS messages from non wireless devices due to spam issues. I gave uip on SMS and use push email. 1 Quote
paulbates Posted January 3 Posted January 3 The notification plugin is recommended with 2 ways to go based on how complex your notification needs are: You can start with the free versions and have notifications come through UD Mobile. The UD Mobile template is the first on the list and handles simple messages... simply. If that doesn't fit your need, you can upgrade to the pay for version of the notification plugin and send notifications through notification plugins through the pushover app. You'll have to touch up all of your notification programs, shouldn't be too bad and you can likely use your existing notifications with variable substitution You'll want to read through the notification section of the forums to see some examples 2 Quote
Ross Posted January 3 Posted January 3 @fisix I prefer texts as well; however, it seems Verizon works for 8 months in a row and then goes wonky for a time. For about the last 2 months, any evening texts arrive around 5am, but morning texts are immediate. I also use UD Mobile and it works like a charm every time. Ross Quote

Ross I think Verizon has dropped support for the email to text option. But want to ask a question: My notifications are firing when prescribed, but delivering at random times. Some days later and at 330 am! Got tired of getting the "man your battle stations" sound at all hours of the day so I have deleted the notification node and notifications. Am wondering if I configured it wrong? Seemed really straight forward but I am days new to eisy Quote
Ross Posted January 9 Posted January 9 @shergenr I'm still using Verizon and it's great when it works, but no good when it doesn't. What is happening to you is happening to me currently. I'm just waiting it out so I can have another 6-8 months of no issues. I recommend UD Mobile - it works great. Ross Quote

It is very flexible what it will block just about everything, while leaving particular people on a white list to never block. Quote
