Updating packages broke my EISY login

Featured Replies

After the suggestion that package updates were available, I decided to comply. It took forever, then I couldn't login with my old - admittedly wide open- login of admin/admin. Now it forced me to use my portal login. Seems like extortion to me. Force you to use the portal which requires a fee to maintain. Not that I dislike the portal, I just want to change it back without affecting the portal login.

you can still login the old way by adding "https://<your.eISY.IP.address>:8443/desc" to the launcher list and electing it instead of the entry without the 8433 port number.

Incorrect. If you take time to read the forums it's been clearly stated that a portal account is all that is needed. You do not need a paid portal license (that adds other goodies that many find helpful). And as others above point out there is a way to log in with local access again.

Also, this does not mean that the device must be connected to the internet either so it's still possible to be locally controlled at all times. But, again, many find it useful to be connected to the internet.

If you had taken a moment to read the forums or even the wiki surrounding the update (that you apparently blindly attempted) you would have learned about these changes and the method to continue to use your local user/pass information.

HI Guys, Blindly...I guess. I don't regularly go to the forum. Usually it's to find out why something that worked doesn't any more. When an update is released from now on, I will check before initiating. Thanks for the enlightenment.

I gotta say, this new/alternate login thing wasn't handled as well as it could have been. It's goal is laudable, but automatically changing the default method (especially when the previous one is still available and valid) seems to be causing some frustration, especially with those who just upgrade when prompted and don't go over the release notes. It would have been better if a pop up message had offered the new capability, and then asked "do you want to change it?"

Just a thought.

login of admin/admin

For logging in to admin console, you should consider changing the default login to something unique, known to just your trusted users.

I know, but then there's the other 3500 logins and unique passwords that we are supposed to never divulge, write down, or otherwise compromise, whilst committing them to our photographic memory.
