December 12, 2025Dec 12 HII just setup a new EISY Home in a new location. I updated to firmware and UI version IoX v.6.0.3.After adding multiple i3 Dials, when I try to make any changes, eg, ramp rate , on level, or mode from dimmer to relay, nothing gets updated on the device. I have tries multiple times and rebooted EISY. Each time I click Write Changes button and/or right click to Write Updates to Device. WHen I do this, event viewer shows no communication. When I querry device, the settings revert back to default. How do I resolve this? Have others had issues with the i3 devices? Do I need to revert to manual device programming or use the Insteon controller outside of ISY?Note, before adding to EISY, I factory reset the devices via air gap etc.Any wisdom on this? Thanks
December 12, 2025Dec 12 Author ...Update,,,Interestingly, using the UD App on my phone, I have changed Mode from Dimmer to Relay. However does not work on the Admin Console. I am connected locally with both.
December 12, 2025Dec 12 Solution This sounds like a familiar problem. Are you in the Java console? If so, it was changed some time back, but not well documented. The Write Changes button doesn't do much. After making your adjustment, click on the actual button "On Level" or "Ramp Rate" after making your adjustments. It will write your changes.
December 13, 2025Dec 13 Author Hi thanks for your help. I will look at this more carefully when I return to that location next week. I appreciate it thanks

So you have to go on faith that the settings are written when you click on the item label as @gdntx outlines above. I'm not sure about the new i3 items, but I know older devices if you set a ramp rate and then come back to the device or the next time admin console is opened that ramp rate does not display.

If I understand correctly we have no way of seeing what settings we have applied to the devices. If so, this might be enough to abandon ISY/EISY. How can this be, that is a base level requirement (to know what settings you have on your devices.

December 14, 2025Dec 14 @ccclapp seeing that it's been this way for YEARS and isn't specific to eisy. Your question is probably better handled through a support ticket with UD for further diagnosis and review. I don't alter ramp rates once I've set them so I don't really need to go back and see what a ramp rate or "on level" is. My expectation is this is automation. I set up my automation and slightly tinker when I first set it up. Once I had it set the way that works best for my family I don't change it. I might tweak a few things over the years as our patterns change, but I don't go back and try to see if a ramp rate is "x" that I want it to be "x+y" different now. I just set it to a different value and see how that works.
December 14, 2025Dec 14 Author Fair point. since I am doing configurations for a whole house now it's very helpful to see the actual specifications so I will put in a ticket on this just for final clarification. Thanks
Sunday at 07:41 PM2 days Author Hi I have done testing on this as suggested by @Geddy and @gdntx ...for the advanced settings shown on the "FLAG" tab of the i3 dial dimmer, one must press/click the label in on the left eg Mode, Program Lock etc. and each must be pressed individually after changing the desired value in the right column. Dont know if it matters but I then also pressed write changes after all settings were set. I then did a reboot of eisy and then after doing Query on the device, all values stick and correctly show. Also, it has been hard to find info on what each value does/means. With some AI research I find the following...It was especially hard to find info on the Relay at Full On setting...interestingHope others find this useful. Thanks for the help.

I do have a lot of N-ways, and some never get dimmed so I moved them over to on offs rather than trying this. I've been in the house +3 years, there are a ton of led can lights that continue to work so not replacing. I'm using the paddle PS01, but it has the same flagsThe head scratcher for me is Disable RF? Why? The problem I've had is that they can come from the factory with that turned on. Of course the first one I ran into is as far away from the panel across the house, as many wire feet as you can get..... with plenty of dual band in the area and it was working flaky. I finally looked the flags to see that turned on. Had my out-of-body experiece, changed it and pressed the button. That was over 2 years ago and its been fine.
