JerryB Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I just installed an ISY-99i Pro with an 2413S PLM. I can bring up the administrative console and set the location. I then set the QueryAll for 3:00AM as instructed in the guide. However, the next step in the install guide does not seem to work. I click on the button to start linking Insteon Devices and the light starts to flash on the PLM but I don't get any instructions on the screen and the flashing light on the PLM times out after about 10 minutes. The PLM does beep when I press and hold the set button on one of my devices so I think there is communication between the devices and the PLM but the ISY hardware/software does not seem to ever get this message and I'm concerned that I don't get the screen instructions as stated in the quick install guide and manual. Does anyone have any idea what's going on or what I should try next. Thanks.
JP Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 When you click on Start Linking, a panel called Link In Progress pops up with three options. While this panel is showing is when you should press the set buttons on the devices you want to link. I tend to be generous with the time that I hold the buttons, the recommended 3 to 5 seconds does not always work (my new t1800 took almost 10 seconds to go into link mode). After the set buttons have been pushed, then hit the "finish" button on the In Progress panel. I also suggest taking the default of erasing all links. JP

JP Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Ahh, sorry but I can't help with that one. That is so basic I'd suspect a firmware issue and would try to reload the ISY99 but I'm sure someone else will respond with a better idea. JP
Sub-Routine Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Hi JerryB, Sometimes that is caused by your firewall software. Can you link by address? ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Link_Management_Menu#New_INSTEON_Device Rand No, that's the problem. The Link In Progress panel never appears.

The Link In Progress panel never appears. Thanks. That appears to be the problem. I can link by address and, if I disable my Antivirus/Firewall software, the Link In Progress panel finally appears. Of course, I don't want to leave the computer with the Antivirus/Firewall software disabled for long. Is there a setting I can change or a port I should open so that this works with my Antivirus/Firewall software otherwise operational?
Brian H Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I use ZonaAlarm and until I added my ISY99i's address to the Trusted Zone. It would not work correctly. See if your Firewall has a place to add the ISY99i to an allowed address. What Firewall are you using? We may know exactly what to do to make it work.

I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 and that was the clue I needed. I opened up the settings configuration and tried adding the ISY's address as trusted to various components of the antivirus/firewall software, including the firewall itself. The first few components I tried adding the address to didn't work. However, when I added the address to the Web Antivirus trusted URL's, the problem resolved and I was able to full access the ISY with my Antivirus/Firewall reenabled. Thanks.
