Michel Kohanim Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Hello all, Release 2.8.5 RC1 is now available. Although this firmware has been tested thoroughly, please note that this is still a beta firmware. Please do be kind enough to : 1. Test Linking/Adding Devices/Creating and/or Modifying Scenes and Adjusting Scenes within programs 2. Observe any type of network anomaly 3. Checkout UI enhancements and fixes For a list of changes, please take a look at this post: http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... =6475#6475 Please note that ISY-26 is no longer included in the firmware builds. Instructions 1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY) 2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip ISY 99 Only - http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... _2.8.5.zip 3. It is very important that you use your current ISY's Admin Console to perform the upgrade by going to your http://your.isy.ip.address/admin. For MAC users, if upgrade fails, please try https://your.isy.ip.address/admin 4. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system] 5. Choose the file saved in step 2 6. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache 7. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console: a. http://isy/admin - applet (Windows only) b. http://isy/admin.jnlp - Java application (Windows only) c. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin - applet d. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application e. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.5 - applet f. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.5/admin.jnlp - Java application 8. IMPORTANT If you have already installed a self signed certificate and your current firmware is 2.7.10 and below, you must reinstall a new one: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... rtificates IMPORTANT Due to the sensitive nature of supporting MorningLinc, users now must agree to terms and conditions upon Admin Console start up otherwise the dialog keeps popping up every time the Admin Console is started. Thanks and with kind regards, Michel Quote
Brian H Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Installed with out a hitch. My first impression was a surprise. My Lighting now shows all 6 buttons on a RemoteLinc and they show an On or Off as the particular button is actuated on the RemoteLinc. The 99i Administrative Console on the Desktop also has a nice new look. Quote
polexian Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Installed great, haven't found any bugs yet, but will keep looking. Quote
jaycanter Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 It also installed great seemed much faster. then i noticed the bathroom ms not turning on the lights. checked the battery and the signal was showing up in the isy but not turning on the lights. checked the 3 other ms and they would not turn on the lights. (they have worked flawlessly for several months) so i reinstalled 2.8.4 and everything worked again all night with no problems. I only got to use 2.8.5 for a couple of hrs but in the event viewer it would show the ms signal and the switch but no light turned on. also plm/info would not show. I am running the dual band plm. gfridland Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Seems to work well...no problems experienced. Thanks UD!!! Quote
Brian H Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 This morning my error log showed some network lost messages. That I have never seen before. Michel Kohanim Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 Hello all: jcatner Are these motion sensors linked in a scene with the devices or do you use programs to control the devices based on motion activity? If latter, then: 1. Does the program last run time get updated correctly? 2. You do not see any motion activity in the Event Viewer? BrianH We added some network "down" detection algorithms to figure out: a. When ISY has a hard time renewing its DHCP lease b. The network is down c. It cannot communicate with the DNS server As long as you only get one or two and then nothing for a while, then I would not worry about it at all. But, if you get many of these consecutively, then we have to figure out why ISY has network connectivity issues. With kind regards, Michel Quote
garybixler Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Hi All seams good with 2.8.5 except that while viewing a 2477D dual band switchlink dimmer on the admin console the new current state bar will disappear if an STxxx update is received from either thermostat. I just need to click on another device and then back to the 2477D to restore the bar, but it will disappear again as a new STxxx update is received. I did clear Java before connecting to 2.8.5. Thanks Gary Quote
gviliunas Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 My upgrade to 2.8.5 went well and everything appears to work however I am now seeing many -170001 error messages in my error log. I have not seen these previously. This particular error is not in the WIKI error message list so I'm not sure what it is. My ISY has a Kingston 16Gb SDHC card that I installed a few weeks ago to try and cure the 2.5.4 file error messages. I formatted the card using "ISY format" in a telnet session according to a process outlined in one of the message threads here. I have the network module installed but have not yet used any of its features. Yesterday, after installing 2.8.5, I received ~200 of the error messages, below. I rebooted ISY and have only experienced 3 instances since midnight. k7zpj Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Installed with no issues. So far everything appears to be working as expected. Quote
RLIKWARTZ Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I've noticed with 2.8.5 that network activity like backup is much more stable. Quote
jaycanter Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Hi Micheal, All the ms are using programs to control i have 3 differant programs to turn on at differant levels then they go to 1 else program for shut down. it does not update the program but update the else program. In the event veiwer i see the motion activity. heres the example this is the folder if surise + 1 minute to sunset-1 minute (same day) program content if control bathroom/bathroom ms is switched then set bathroom/bathroom 50% run program bathroom else (else path) Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 Hi jcanter, Thanks so very much. This is quite odd and it should work. Would it be possible to reinstall 2.8.5 and then send me the contents of the Event Viewer? With kind regards, Michel Quote
polexian Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Under main tab where it lists all devices, why can we not re arrange the folders? IE: Folder: Office Folder: Bathroom Folder: Bedroom and if I wanted to move folder bedroom between bathroom and office, I could right click on bedroom and click move Up. Thoughts? Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 Hello polexian, Unfortunately you cannot do that. Nodes are sorted on their names and therefore Office will always be below Bathroom. With kind regards, Michel Quote
jeffmikan Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I am running into problems with doing a restore on an EZIO8SA. ISY is constantly sending traffic over the PLM. I let it run all night and it was still doing stuff in the morning. I only 2 IO's actually hooked up to anything and it is only in 3-5 scenes. I ran out of time last night and this morning to troubleshoot but I am thinking about deleting and re-adding when I get home to see if I can get it back up and working. Quote
LeeG Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Sounds like a communication problem to the EZIO8SA location. Why are you doing a Restore in the first place. Do you have Inputs 5&6 locked to GND. If not those inputs are floating. A built in pullup resister is not possible because those inputs can be used in Digital or Analog mode. If not connected to GND these inputs could be generating powerline traffic interfering with the Restore. Quote
polexian Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I have two insteon switches and I have an isy99. When i turn off my ceiling fan switch, the light flickers, the switch doesn't do anything though. Any ideas? Quote
LeeG Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 What type of load are the "lights"? Are they on a dimmer and not at 100% bright. Is it a significant flicker suggesting a lose wire at the switch location or smaller flicker such as can happen with Insteon dimmers when not on an incandescent load? Quote
polexian Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 The lights are on a dimmer set to off, when turned on they go to 100% bright. The ceiling fan is on a on/off. Turn on and the fan turns on, turn off and the light flickers. The dimmer doesn't signal any turn on or anything. I will take them off the wall and check the wiring, but i'm 100% sure that wireing isn't a problem. Quote
LeeG Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 How long does the light flicker after turning the fan Off? Motors can generate a pulse when tuned Off but I have never heard of that affecting an Insteon dimmer that was already Off. Are the fan and light switch on the same breaker? Is it a SwitchLinc dimmer or ICON dimmer? If no wiring problems are found I would discuss it with Smarthome support. Quote
polexian Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 They are on the same breaker, and they are switchlink. it just started happening after the upgrade, so i might try downgrading then seeing if the problem is still there. Quote
dgruehn Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Just installed v2.8.5 from 2.7.14. Lights work ok but i've noticed several issues: - no value is displayed for Current State on any device - all devices were changed to On Level 0 and Ramp Rate 9.0M - when i change the OnLevel and RampRate values they will not hold Quote
polexian Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Need to clear out your java cache and restart your isy 99. Quote
IndyMike Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 UDI team, Thank you again for all the effort. You really should take more credit for the fixes and enhancements you make in the product: Bug Fixes - 369: Contextual menu does not work when event viewer is in the way Confirmed - this was a big one for me. It's rare that I don't have the event viewer open, and on level 3. Previously, I was constantly moving the viewer around to allow the context menu to function. Enhancements - 222: Immediate level setting for dimmers (in addition to Dim/Bright buttons) Very nice - I've used this extensively already. I've been mapping the power curves of both incandescent and CFL lights. By clicking below the setting "bar", I can adjust levels in 1% increments using the cursor keys. A huge time savings. - 370: Event Viewer levels are now in a list (instead of a popup dialog) I'm a keyboard person - I really appreciate the use of lists rather than constant popup's. Nicely done. - 391: Diagnostics context menu on nodes This item is the real reason for my post: 1) Right clicking on a device brings up a menu that now includes diagnostics (show device links and show ISY links). 2) Right clicking on a scene again brings up a menu including diagnostics. For scenes, this allow you to perform a "scene test". This little improvement has quite simply made my day. I can't tell you how many times I used the drop down menus to search for a scene (scene test) or device (show device links) only to grab the wrong one. Being able to select from the tree will cut down significantly on my incorrect selections and subsequent trips to the refrigerator (while waiting for the wrong scene test/link table display to complete). I can feel my health improving already. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be 100% good news. I have not been able to get the "compare" function to work in the "show device links" function. Nonetheless - thank you your never ceasing presence on the forum and all the hard work on the product, IM Quote
