jspoon Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I found an ISY-26 and am not sure how it is configured. I do know that when power is applied the cycle and then go dark, no DHCP client appears so I am guessing it is static IP that I do not know. When I do the login with the java applet, I do not believe it is communicating with it since there is no IP information in the Help/About. Based on the documentation, the only way to factory reset is with a terminal to port B. So, tried that with 115200/8/n/1/xon-off and it was not responding. But the ethernet lights seem to indicate a connection... Any ideas on what to try next?
LeeG Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 What Insteon devices will be used? The ISY-26 firmware does not support any of the new devices Smarthome is now shipping. I don't mean new device types, I mean KPLs, SwitchLincs, etc with the latest firmware. Your efforts to get that old ISY-26 to run is likely a waste of time unless you have a very old inventory of Insteon devices with no intent to every upgrade or replace devices that fail in the future.
jspoon Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 I have a smartlinc but wanted more flexibility such as if conditions and more custom programming. I found the ISY-26 cheap, so maybe what you are saying is why So far I am using iolinc, appliancelinc, togglelinc, etc. If I can get it going and like it, I will likely move to the isy-99i. Just wanted to see some basic function with what I have first...
LeeG Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 The only thing that ISY-26 is good for now would be a replacement for someone with another ISY-26 looking for a backup should their current ISY-26 fail. Only very old Insteon devices will work with the 2.7.15 firmware. None of the new I2CS firmware works on 2.7.15. I2CS was not heard of back in those days. Plus Smarthome has released many new device types that 2.7.15 knows nothing about. You will not be disappointed with an ISY but I urge picking up an ISY-994i. The older ISY-99i will soon have its firmware frozen like the ISY-26 was years ago. Start with the latest model ISY.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Hi LeeG, As always, you are 100% correct. With kind regards, Michel
