Really? What version is this RL? I want to try!
-
Upgraded and all appears fine . . . Will be doing more tests in the next few days to confirm full operational stability. BTW: I personally don't mind all the updates. This just re-affirms my belief and loyalty to your product and those who support the ISY. All of you should be so proud to know you're helping millions of people around North America to make their lives easier, safer, and convenient. All the while supporting a greener environment to sustain the world. Much thanks as always . . .

Install went fine . . .
-
Thank you for the information. Just so I know why is the light bulb used in this instance instead of the standard square icon?
-
Just installed my first outlet linc device and enrolled it into the ISY. I noted that the icon displays a light bulb and the words are in blue text? Why is the text blue? Why is there a light bulb instead of the standard square thingy?

All is well on this end . . . As always much thanks for the continued improvements and added feature sets.

Brian, I was not aware this was how the scene tests was intended and operates. This would explain why sometimes a scene would fail when I was doing some testing, yet the activation of the scene operated normally. I am not sure if this has ever been covered or explained before. But, I would like to thank you once again for all the information and insight. This is why having these discussions are so important . . .
-
That would be most excellent upgrade feature.
-
Please do keep us updated, as I am in the same boat.

If I press a few random buttons on one KPL there are INST-SRX'S, pressing the same device via the ISY admin console appears to be none. Also, there are tons of *standard clean up* messages that follow each activation of a device in a scene.

Is it possible to turn on / off a switch so quickly that there are com failures or collisions of the information going to the switches? Also to be clear this behaviour is present turning on switchlinc timer, icon relay, KPL 8 buttom dimmer, and lamplinc dimmers. I can turn on / off the same switchlinc timer 5-6 times with out faulter, than later it will accept the off command, yet will not turn off the load? Doing the same thing, and waiting 30 seconds, the same device will not respond to a ON command, unless you double tap the ON button, or select the Fast On, or Fast Off? I have tried this using Opera 11.0, IE 8, and via the Java console. I can not state for a fact which of the three is more reliable at this point in time as I can be standing here turning on the same device for an hour either fast, slow, or waiting in between with out problems. Also, I am able to turn on / off the same device physically at the switch with out faulter either locally, or remotely using one of 4 KPL's. I dunno . . .
-
Would you be so kind and refresh my memory how to get there? Currently I use either the local my lighting icon which is a 192. address, or external 207. address, and the Java Admin console which you provided in the beginning of this thread. I will log into the ISY using my external 207. address and report back.

That would be both . . . There will be times when I attempt to turn on one single device via the scene pallet. One of several things will happen: - Device will turn on, as expected. But, turning it off will do nothing to the physical load. But, the ISY reports that the device has been turned off and you can see that the LED on the device is either been turned off or on. Yet the load stays at the previous state? - Device does not turn on. Then double tapping the ON button will turn on the load. Hitting the OFF button will either turn it off, or require a double tap. If it turns off (meaning the status does change) but the load does not turn off? - Using the Fast On / Fast Off - Appears to make the device(s) turn on and off as expected? I dunno why this is happening. But, will ask you a simple Q. Could a bad java cert cause this to happen?
-
Yes I do. I also confirmed that the status changes when looking at the RL on the left side of the admin tree for that device only. When I view the status of the RL from the My Lighting it also shows the change of state immediately. In my eye's this is good news. Having the version number instead of a V0.0 is preferred than some random default V0.0 It works, so I'll take it LOL !!!

I do not have any pending green icons waiting to be written at all. The devices in question are not linked to any programs waiting to be initiated. What I have observed: Prior to this update, the same individual device could be turned on / off on the painters pallet with out faulter. Now, the same device(s) do not respond consistently, or reliably. To me in my humble opinion is that the buttons have been mistakenly changed to require a double tap?
-
Yes, I do see and receive confirmation on the ISY admin console when I activate a device / scene.
-
I also have to affirm that doing what Brian H has outline has also given me a version number. While doing it the other way results in a V0.0 Mine is stated as V.35 just in case you needed to know. My remotelinc also works fine with out any problems.

Michel, I am not sure if we are speaking about the same thing so I will try to clarify the problem I have observed. When I select a scene (painters pallet) within the left hand side ISY admin console. There are options to select on, fast on, off, fast off, etc depending upon the features that device has. Previously, when I pressed any of these buttons to view and watch the activation(s) of the grouped devices within the scene. The actuation of those device(s) were instantaneous and immediate. Also, the change of state was updated on the admin console immediately. Now, since the update the same scene even when I press it minutes apart will either operate fine, or the behavior of being forced to click on the ON button twice (double tap) or pressing the FAST ON, is the only way to turn the scene (devices) on / off. This behavior was not present before the update to .10 of the release. I hope this gives you a clearer explanation of what I see here.

There is a problem when using the ISY doesn't seem to matter which web browser I use. Or how I log into the ISY. Using the link Michel supplied in the first page and also logging into my system via external link. There is either no response when pressing the on / off buttons in the scenes. Or you must double tap the on / off to make that device turn on / off. Strangely, using the fast on, fast off seems to make the device(s) activate. This problem was not present in .9 of the release. Hope this information proves helpful. EDIT: Has there been more information added to the e-mail notification? As I don't recall all of the extra bits of information being supplied before with such detail. Awesome !!! 'Entry Motion Light' scene set Status (On) by 'Motion Sensor-Sensor' at 2010/12/29 4:27:26 PM. ---------------------------------------- At: 2010/12/29 4:27:26 PM Program: Motion Entrance Network: Insteon Network Scene: Entry Motion Light Device: Motion Sensor-Sensor (XX XX XX 1) Action: Status Value: On

I found this out as well during my re-install where it initially reported V0.0 for both the remotelinc & one icon switchlinc relay.
-
Upgrade went fine here . . . Just in the middle of testing all scenes and also other attributes in my Insteon network.

Can all of these simple yet important tips be appended to the Wiki if it hasn't been done so? These procedures is what I was trying to recall when I was in the thick of things. One place for all the TOP 10 how to's in PDF so it can be read and printed would be my humble suggestion. As a lot of these helpful tips are scattered all over this forum and it really takes time to find, read, and then comprehend the information as we all write in different styles. And no offense to anyone when I say this: But, sometimes people have to dumby it down for the general audience in question. I come from a very technical back ground but sometimes the terminology, or how something is worded really confuses me! So once again thanks to the forum members and UDI for dumbing it down for those still learning and not understand all of the nuances in this sytem.

Just subscribing to this thread as I am considering this unit in the future. But ONLY if all the bugs have been worked out on these devices. Accurate and live Information is critical for me regarding the devices I will be tying into . . . Please keep us all updated to this new product . . .

Just a follow up to my original Q. After reading another post from someone else my question has been answered. That being the other scene test options. This is not very clear as to how to initiate these other options. So for the next new user I hope this helps you out. Under the *Tools* tab at the top of the Admin console. Select Diagnostics > Select *Event Viewer* > Pick a scene or device at the left of the Admin console > Turn the scene or device on > You will now see *Events* as they transpire live through your Insteon network via the ISY. At this point you can also select the other options one at a time to display more information. I did not find this procedure documented anywhere or clearly written for the lay person. Hope this helps someone else later on . . .

Sorry I should have been more clear. When you load the new firmware the previous selection to enable internet access is turned off. It is not disabled as such where you would not have that feature any longer. Simply go to the top left and select internet access and enable it back.
