Michael, Precisely. James, Perhaps if you can answer my questions instead of dissertations on the history and future of technology and how it should be implemented in ISY, we might be able to find a solution. Please respond with yes/no: 1. Is the source of events ISY (yes/no)? 2. Is it all the events from ISY (yes/no)? 3. If yes to #2, is it the same format in xml (yes/no)? 4. If no to #2, then what? With kind regards, Michel

I think we are going in circles. WHAT are we notifying and WHAT is the source thereof? If the source is ISY, then the only ways to have ISY notify something is either by subscription or the Network Module. With kind regards, Michel

ISY Portal Maintenance - 10-09-2016
Dear ISY Portal Subscribers, ISY Portal is scheduled for a minor maintenance release on Sunday 10/09/2016 from 5:00 AM till 6:00 AM PDT. Unless there's a catastrophic incident, the only noticeable impact to end users would be if they have active client subscriptions (such as Admin Console). Active subscriptions will drop. MobiLinc users will not notice this issue as the app will re=subscribe when it sees that the existing subscription is dropped. We do apologize for any inconvenience. With kind regards, Michel

Hi Gary, That does not answer the question of "what" from ISY to ISY Portal. Anything that ISY needs to publish to anything else requires subscription. With kind regards, Michel

Hi James, If no subscription from ISY Portal to ISY, then what is ISY Portal notifying? With kind regards, Michel

GCM / FCM
Hi James, ISY Portal subscribes to ISY IF AND ONLY IF a client subscribes (such as Agave). There are no mechanisms in ISY Portal to subscribe on its own. Furthermore, with your description, ISY Portal will need to keep checking for subscriptions and make sure they are maintained, re-subscribe if they are severed for any reasons, and finally there's no good method of removing them in case someone decides not to use them any more. We currently have this issue with Echo: dangling accounts which Echo thinks should exist but they that are not tied to any ISYs in the Portal. We had to spend numerous hours of maintenance and development just to clean those up. In short, what you are suggesting will NOT work without massive changes and major overhead both administratively (making sure accounts are still associated with devices) and performance wise. With kind regards, Michel

Michael, James, Thank you. What you are describing will require the portal to have a) an always on subscription to ISY and monitor the events and then based on some filters, send a push notification to another device. In short, there needs to be a mini ISY in the portal which would defeat the purpose not being cloud based. Perhaps a better solution would be to have another construct in ISY Programs that calls an event service (based on some conditions) and passes some relevant information to the portal through the portal socket (not web). The question is what type of parameters do we need in the portal to make it secure, reliable, and extensible. With kind regards, Michel

Hello all, The only reason is our aversion to putting too much logic in the cloud. Apart from IFTTT and Geo Fencing/Push Notifications, what other services should we put in the cloud? Of course, with 5.0.x, putting services in the cloud and having them be represented as nodes in ISY is quite easy. With kind regards, Michel

ISY Portal says device is offline
Hi hum099, You MUST use the username/password for ISY Portal and not your ISY. If the problem persists, please go to Help | About and make sure you do NOT Have MobiLinc Connect Module. If you do, please send your UUID to support@universal-devices.com and request for it to be deactivated. With kind regards, Michel

Hi topps, Unfortunately you cannot edit backup files since most INSTEON database files are binary. So very sorry. With kind regards, Michel

"Open failed" message in event viewer
Hi jtara92101, I think the issue is that you are trying to save notes and they are not getting saved and thus you have zero length files. Most probably due to the same socket open errors and network related. With kind regards, Michel

Socket Open Failed java.net.SocketTimeoutException
Hi jtara92101, Socket open failed happens when all ISY http tasks are busy. OR, if the admin console cannot find a path to ISY (this might happen on WiFi). With kind regards, Michel

Hello all, Please do let me know whether or not you still have this issue. We did have a maintenance release but it shouldn't have caused these issues. With kind regards, Michel

Statuses on a couple of my requests
Hi RLIKWARTZ, 1. At the bottom of the list in 5.0. branch 2. Storing the configuration in any other location requires permissions and will not work on all platforms. You can, however, change the Cache location in Java With kind regards, Michel

PLM Replacement
Hi Baja, It all depends on where in the process it stopped. RemoteLincs might have problems with new dual band devices including the PLM. The last time we had this issue we had to use an old access point and even then it took a few tries. With kind regards, Michel
