KPL problem or ISY problem?
Hi, What we have to do is to make sure that ISY hears the button press (D). Would you be kind enough to open the Event Viewer on level 3 and make sure that ISY hears the button when you press it? With kind regards, Michel

Problem with my Program or Communications Issue?
Hi Illusion, Based on the logs, ISY does think that the Front Portch KPL is On. I am not sure why your program would run the else clause unless there's another program that's running it explicitly. Direct commands all get a response back from the device and, as such, either they will be in error (with the ! mark) or they will have the correct status. With kind regards, Michel

Java on the iphone
Hello apostolakis, As a workaround, you could always use one of the many iPhone apps for ISY: iLinc, TouchSwitch, eKeypad (supports ELK as well). With kind regards, Michel

Please Explain -5012 Errors
Hi johnmsch, When the user=system, the 0/null mean absolutely nothing. They are not applicable. 5012 simply means that the Admin Console (or any other ISY client such as iLinc) did not properly say goodbye to ISY. ISY was trying to communicate with it and it didn't respond and therefore, ISY is expiring its subscription by force. With kind regards, Michel

Diagnostics
Hi IM, That's what I heard about 1 year ago. Unfortunately I have not followed up and hoped that they would show up by themselves. I will follow up - and if given permission - I will post back. With kind regards, Michel Michel, Am I to understand that Smarthome is working on implementing S/N measurement in the Insteon devices themselves?? Than would truly be a boon to the Insteon community. Do you know if this would be implemented in individual modules or just the PLM? IM

Diagnostics
Hi dss, The hop count only means the number of hops remaining before a repeater stops repeating. I do not think it would give a lot of information if the max count is 3. With kind regards, Michel

Base cabinet lights that turn on like a refrigerator
Hi Jay, Yes, ISY is compatible with IOLinc but perhaps you might want to try TriggerLinc instead simply because you won't have to run wires. With kind regards, Michel

Diagnostics
Hi dss, The first part of grouping devices does not seem very difficult. The second part which requires checking signal ratios is a little bit more involved. For that we have to wait for the long awaited S/N ratio from INSTEON devices. With kind regards, Michel

Automated kitchen
Hi Jay, I am so very glad to hear you are enjoying your ISY. The main question is whether or not recessed lights, cabinet lights, and under cabinet lights are controlled by INSTEON devices. If not, then the you might want to consider InLineLincs for each set. Then, the rest would be as simple as creating a scene ( http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... ide#Scenes ). I do not think dimmers can control low voltage lights. With kind regards, Michel

Any way to requery device links?
Hi Oktane, Correct. But, when you add back, and if you want those links, you have to make sure you use the 3rd option. And here comes the risk: if the link is 1/2 or orphaned, then the scenes created by ISY might not actually reflect reality (as much as ISY tries to reconstruct the other half based on what it thinks the other half should be). In most cases, the best configuration is the one that you actually know what you want the function to be and then use ISY to create it. With kind regards, Michel

Device Communications Error after power loss.
Hi Brian, I am so very sorry you had to go through this. I should have mentioned the workaround: rename your node. I do apologize. With kind regards, Michel

Device Communications Error after power loss.
Hi Brian, Thanks SO very much. Based on your description, I was able to reproduce this issue and thus it's now a bug. I am hoping that it'll be fixed in 2.7.7. Thanks again and with kind regards, Michel

Any way to requery device links?
Hi oktane, Unfortunately there's no way to rescan the device since ISY always assume the master configuration to have been stored in ISY. This makes synchronization much easier. With kind regards, Michel

Button Scenes
Hi Mark, You can already do that with Mutual Exclusive buttons for buttons on the same KPL. The only thing we are talking about here is that if you have a controller, you would be able to have it selectively control the status of KPL non-load buttons. So, you might want an On to turn OFF a button. I have not been able to get this to work with our KPL versions. I am trying to figure out given the URL above, has anyone been able to accomplish this and with what version of KPLs. With kind regards, Michel

where did my programs go?
Hello drw, Excellent. Yes, please use http://www.universal-devices.com/99i ... this URL will always have the Admin Console for the official release. With kind regards, Michel

where did my programs go?
Hello drw, I think the URL which pointed to cache explains the issue. Restoring the older backup means that you will lose all the changes made to your system since then. The best option would be as follows: 1. Restore the backup from April 2. Login, go to Program Details, Right Mouse Click on My Programs and choose Export ... save it to a file of your choice 3. Restore your most recent backup 4. Go to Program Details, Right Mouse Click on My Programs, choose Import and then choose the file saved in step 2 This way, you will have the latest system configuration but with an older programs configuration. Again, I am so very sorry for the inconvenience. With kind regards, Michel

where did my programs go?
Hello drw, Got the backups and unfortunately none of them have the programs. Two questions: 1. Is your unit ISY26 or 99? 2. What URL do you use to access your ISY? With kind regards, Michel

Device Communications Error after power loss.
Hi Brian, Thanks. Would you be kind enough to remove the batteries from your RL and then do a reboot on your ISY? This way, we'll be able to figure out if the problem is RL related or ISY/PLM related. Also, how often do you have you to change the battery on your RL? With kind regards, Michel

Problem with my Program or Communications Issue?
Hi Illusion, Are the SWL and KPL on the same circuit? Also, can we make the programs simpler? For instance, you do not have to check the status of the KPL before you turn it on. i.e. sending an On command to an already On device is not going to cause any problems. Furthermore, from experience, I can tell you continuously querying devices might cause communication errors. I know you added these to ensure the status is OK ... but it would be best to figure out why the status would be wrong in the first place rather than querying the KPL all the time. With kind regards, Michel

Admin Console Will Not Populate Status Field After Query
Hi Joel, Apologies for a tardy reply. The problem is that the Admin Console is not given the permission to listen to events. Two cases: 1. The applet has not been given permission to run 2. You have a firewall software which does not allow listening sockets To try the first, please do be kind enough to go to Java Control Panel: 1. Under General tab, click on Settings and then click on Delete Files 2. Under Security tab, click on Certificates, click on Universal Devices, Inc. and then click on Remove The next time you get to Admin Console, please ensure that you accept the security certificate for Universal Devices, Inc. If this does not work, please do be kind enough to call our tech support (818-631-0333) so that we can log in to your computer and see what's going on. With kind regards, Michel

Device Communications Error after power loss.
Hi Brian, Very strange. Do you still have the problem now? i.e. does it show the red ! after you clicked on the button? The only time (theoretically) that you would get a ! on a RemoteLinc while not in programming is if it sends out a NACK. I can't see how that would be the case here. With kind regards, Michel
