  1. OK, the title notes my problem. I have a 994i running 4.4.6 in a complex network. I have successfully added the original 2852-222 sensors before, and these are running in the system. I had one left over that I hadn't added in at that time, and decided to today. Followed the New Insteon Device dialog, typed in the address, selected 2852-222, put the device into discover mode with the fast blinks. The dialog disappears, for a moment 2852-222 is shown, and then it changes to (2421) Triggerlinc v.40, with an Opened, Closed and Heartbeat node. Also tried AutoDiscover, same thing. The other units were correctly added in (a year or two ago) with Leak Sensor v.41 shown and Dry, Wet & Heartbeat nodes. What am I doing wrong? * Orest
  2. I would love to see this addressed as well. You can also use the windows Magnify app. Just set the admin console size appropriately, and hit magnify enough to make it about full screen. The magnifier does munge the fonts a bit, but it does make it a little more readable. * Orest
  3. Well, replacement modem arrived, installed as per proper routine, all FIXED. NIce to have things back to normal. * Orest
  4. I noticed that thread, I may well do that on the old one (actually have the previous one too), at my leisure once I get the new one installed. * Orest
  5. Thanks everyone for your help, modem is ordered, should be here Tuesday/Wednesday. Will report back, expect that will fix it all up. * Orest
  6. 2413S is ordered. Should I order two, just in case (discussions re availability of chips) ? * Orest
  7. LED is about normal. Hmm, but, there are only 28 links, that surely can't be right. So, 2413U or 2413S? * Orest
  8. 2413S v1.3 1329 -- is that the 29th wk of 2013? I'm thinking that might be beyond the usual witching time then. My previous one is sitting on the stud above it, that one was from 2009. Is the 2413U just the dual mode equivalent, and compatible with the ISY? EVen if compatible, is the 2413S preferred? Both are available at the same price, locally. * Orest
  9. Haven't been here in a while, guess things have been running smoothly. I have a 994i, running 4.3.26, and maybe 60 different devices incl. keypads, switches, relays, motions and thermostats, and a rich and complex programming structure. I posted some parts of it as samples and examples here. I have a number of keypads some are used strictly for ISY generated scenes to control lights, but most are used as mini-control centers to trigger programs, like opening the curtains, or telling the furnace to up the temp for a hour, that sort of thing. They also display information, like the garage door is open. Overnight all of my keypads have lost several aspects of their functioning, although the rest of the functions still work ... ISY generated device scenes still work ISY can address and change the status of each key (ON/off) However, ISY can no longer dim/brighten the keypads ISY can no longer beep the keypads And what is the biggest issue ... Pressing the keys on the keypad no longer generates an event that the ISY can see and act on, knocking out a good portion of house control. From the ISY java panel, you can otherwise trigger the respective programs that the keys would start up, and they work fine, in fact this is what I'm having to do now to get certain things to happen. Viewing the devices from the ISY panel, pushing the keys manually results in no changes to the status of the device, or to the scene that the key is linked to (if any). Not surprising, as the respective programs are not triggered either. In addition, all four motions will no longer generate an event on motion. They flash, but not once or twice, but many sequencial flashes. Batteries all checked. I have four wireless water sensors. They also stopped communicating with the ISY. I have a monitor program (as described here) that looks for the once daily heartbeat on these devices, and it disappeared for several days. I have tried factory reseting and ISY refreshing the keypads and motions. Some of the keypads are the newer dual mode type, so I tried pulling some of the wireless nodes thinking there might be a bad one somehow causing an issue. I tried rebooting the ISY. I tried pulling the power on all the keypads, to see if the motions would start working, they didn't. I even tried jiggling the cords. I have one sick system. Is a multiple unit hardware failure really possible? Seems much more likely that there is some sort of software scrambling. I did a lot of x10 work years ago, and was experienced at tracking down troubles with line monitors, but I'm not really up on the more complex structure of insteon comm ... So, where do I start to fix this. Thanks for anyone's help. * Orest
  10. Unfortunately the Compatibitliity settings change didn't change anything for me. Running Win7. I too would really like to see a scalable, or even just one extra "large" size font display for the adm console. * Orest
  11. I will try that, should it happen again. It does look like most, if not all, of my 2486's will be going belly up. * Orest
  12. Both firmware and UI are 4.2.30. Set the event viewer active, and tried the device add. Bizarrely it worked this time!? Here is the trace, from that successful add, in any case ... 13. I have a mature system with a gazillion devices and extensive programming. Recently two of my original 2486 8 button devices have failed. I purchased two 2334-222 devices, to replace them. The first went in just fine, used the New Insteon Device dialog, and explictly specified the address and device type. It added normally, and I replaced the old device with the new, in the programming device tree. The second device, using the identical steps, consistently gives the following error ... Note that the device firmware version is not recognized, the other device sent its version on interrogation, as usual. I am using the latest stable release, 4.2.30 software. I tried doing a factory reset on the 8-button 2334 device, no difference. Tried adding the device in alternate fashion, by discovery, no difference. I did a simple reboot of my ISY device, and rebooted my computer and cleaned out my Java cache, again no difference. I even jiggled the cords. Should I assume that the device is faulty, and look to a warranty replacement? Anything else to check/do? Thanks. * Orest
  14. OK, thanks. To replace my 99ir, will order a basic 994i, buy the PRO module, and transfer the Weather module. No need for the IR. * Orest
  15. Not to be overly picky, but I just want to be absolutely sure of the following ... Going from an ISY99ir (with IR, but IR never actually used) data backup, there will be no issue restoring that backup to a new ISY994i (no ir), assuming that the IR functions have not been used at all, correct? * Orest
  16. So, there is no "hardware" difference between the 994i and the 994ir ? The IR is just license enabled, like the PRO and other modules? * Orest
  17. I have a 99i/pro/ir, and the weather module no longer works, I understand the weatherbug/ham issue, and that I need to upgrade to he 994. Read the upgrade wiki, but I have a couple of questions not answered there. 1) I currently have the 99i/pro/ir, I do not need the IR, never used it. Do I still need to buy a 994 with IR to ensure I can properly restore from my backup, during the upgrade? 2) I understand that the modules can be transferred with an email to support, Does that include the PRO module? IOW, can I now just buy the base 994 and transfer the PRO module/status over, from my current 99i/pro/ir. Thanks. * Orest
  18. Surprised that no one had anything to say. Turns out it was W7 UAC problems. * Orest
  19. Stable setup, running for some years, large number of programs defined (and backedup) in the isy99. Running the last stable release. Just today, for some reason, I am no longer able to access the programs for editing. All else appears intact when I load the admin interface (did try the main UD java link as well), the variable, the devices, and the system appears to be functioning normally., I can watch the variables changing, as they should be. However, when I click on programs, I get the usual dialog box indicating loading - perhaps persisting a little longer than usual, and then when it stops, the program tab for SUMMARY and DETAILS is blank, except for a "My Programs" folder. What has happened here? Running Win7/64. * Orest
  20. Well, got the replacement v2.2 dongles, have four Venstars to fix up. Very easy process. The steps in bold are things often forgotten. Turn thermostat to OFF (mode). Pull out the 2.1 dongle. Insert the 2.2 dongle. In ISY admin, Activate Link management, Start linking. Push and hold the button on the 2.2 dongle for five seconds, the thermostat screen will flash all its LCD elements. Finish Link Management in the ISY admin. Four new links will appear for the new dongle. You can test that they correctly control the stat. Move your old thermostat links from any folder, to the root folder. Right click on the main link of your old dongle's group. Select Replace with, and select your newly added dongle group. Let her go, it will take a little while. When it is done, the ISY admin will close. Open ISY admin back up, you will see that the newly added dongle group is gone, references to your old dongle adapter have all been moved over not just in the device list, but also correctly reassigned throughout your programming. All good. * Orest
  21. So the Adjust Scene will adjust behavior only in ISY scenes, and will OVERRIDE the local settings. For local switch settings, you need to make the changes in the switch using the ISY admin interface, or use the SET commands, with possibly a power cycling for it to take. I have not fiddled with these yet, it is a little confusing before you wade into it. * Orest
  22. FWIW, for the Canadians here, I just contacted AARTech in Canada, where I purchased the tstats, and they are waiting for a shipment from SM to carryout the swap-out to v2.2 dongles. So all good. Full marks to SM to resolving this issue. * Orest
  23. Have a peek here ... Prioritizing Thermostats using dynamic cycles I have yet to receive by 2.2 swapout, how did yours proceed? Smarthome did make contact, but I am in Canada and bought from a Canadian retailer, so may be out of luck. I have not heard anything further. * Orest
  24. The key to solving this, is to power backup the ISY, so that it does not lose state. You can do one of several things: 1) Set up a program that runs say every 30 min, and queries the status of a dummy relay that is normally held ON. If it is OFF, then the ISY needs to do some clean up. 2) Set up a program that runs periodically, and sets a certain relay to ON. Then it queries the relay say 20 seconds later. If it is OFF, then the power is out right now. Set a variable to note a power outage, maybe send an email, and keep checking. Once the power is back on, cleanup time. 3) Get a delay ON relay (OMRON or equiv.) that will trigger when energized, but say 1 minute afterwards. Hook this up to a 2420, and have the relay ON trigger cause the ISY to realize that the power was off, and came back on, and then it can do cleanup. I have implemented #2 and #3. It was fiddly, but now works quite well. * Orest
