I've just replaced what I thought was a troublesome SWL with a newer version. It responds to Alexa commands such as "Turn on countertop" but when I tell her to "Turn on night scene" or Cooking scene the ISY GUI shows the change but the SWL itself doesnt change. I've air gapped etc. Any thoughts? Drew

Cant get SWL to connect to ISY

Success, although I had to select the "Add device and keep existing links as the other two didn't work. I'll leave this here to see if anyone has a reason for that. I've never used that selection before. Its a brand new switch. Weird -
I've tried Link Management/New Insteon Device and inputting the info and Start linking and holding the set button until it beeps. No luck on either It seems to start fine and it finds the switch Once it said it couldn't determine the Engine and this is what it said he last try

Replacement ordered. Before I replace it I will try to sort out the yard light issue. Just in the last ditch effort that the yard light is affecting that one device

I have tried that. It’s an older SWL and it doesn’t beep when I hold the button in for a long time. So I just hold it in for 15 seconds and let go. It now seems to be nonfunctional so that answers my question I’m assuming.

I apologize for the vague title and the sideways video (not sure why it came out that way but you can see what's going on) The SWL stopped working so I air gapped it and started doing this. Is this the SWL saying 'let me die'? Andrew IMG_6754.mp4

Hi guys, I've had an outdoor scene working fine for quite a while until recently. Making it brief I have a few devices in the scene including one called Yard Lights. Recently I've noticed that one doesnt come on with the timer or the scene. When I tell Alexa to turn it on it works fine. I removed it from the scene and put it back in but the behaviour hasn't changed. Not sure if its failing but I wouldn't think so because it triggers on its own just fine. Any thoughts? Andrew

KPL not functioning this morning.
andrew77 replied to andrew77's topic in INSTEON Communications Issues
I figured. It was a last ditch hope posting here. I'm getting a little tired of Insteon prices and failures. Especially when theres so many more solutions popping up every day Drew -
I don’t believe there was a power outage as everything else in the house is fine. I woke up to find the load of a KPL lit and no leds on the keypad lit. No buttons were functioning. I’ve airgapped it and now the load isn’t lit but the KPL isn’t functioning either. Any thoughts? I’m not sure where to go from here. Drew

Hi Geddy, Thanks for all the tips. I've updated, and turned on 2 factor authentication. Still getting the Mail Server failure password not accepted (I have the correct password and have double checked it) I'm not sure what you mean by reset the login and app specific password. Sorry for being a noob here -

Firmware and UI are both v.4.8.0 And I have Less Secure Apps selected. Still no emails or texts. -
I believe I have everything set up properly but when I click test it says Mail Server Failure [Unsupported authentication method] In the SMTP Settings I left it the way I found it (Use Default was checked) I'd like to get it working regularly. Any help is greatly appreciated. Drew I no longer leave the "Use Default" checked and it seems to be better but I got an alert saying Sign In Attempt was blocked from Google I've checked the "it was me" tab in the email but now I don't even get a google email warning.

Mini remote triggers scenes correctly but Alexa doesn't

Just tried it. Same result. The KPL in question doesn't light even though its in all the scenes and seemingly correctly set up. What should my next step be? -
Mini remote triggers scenes correctly but Alexa doesn't
andrew77 replied to andrew77's topic in Amazon Echo
I have made Alexa aware of the changes. I’ve also removed the scenes from the portal and Alexa, then re added them. still no luck The odd thing is I have 5 scenes and one works where the rest don’t light up the one device. any help would be great. drew -
The echo units recognize the scenes and turn them on except for the hallway. When i tell her to turn on the hallway separately she does. I've programmed the scenes into a mini remote and they trigger fine. I did recently replace the hallway device (KPL) with a newer one as I had issues with the old version responding. I deleted toehold one and replaced it with the new one in the Portal and in the online Alexa Smarthome browser. Clearly I've missed something but I know not what. Drew

I followed these directions and everything worked perfectly. I do see now that Alexa says she doesn't recognize the device. Is there fix for that?

I have a KPL (old version) that doesn't respond to Alexa well most of the time. Heres a bit of history Anyhow, I've purchased another KPL and I know theres a specific order in which to switch out the old for the new and I don't want to screw it up. I searched on the forum but couldn't find the posting detailing the exact steps. If someone can point me to it that would be great. Drew
