ISY on Polisy v5.3.0 (IoP) - OUTDATED
dbwarner5 replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in Previous Releases
Can you expand on this? I have the elk and its an integral part of my programs etc. -
Thanks @tmorse305 I had not seen that post
-
My understanding: PGC --> Cloud based polisy, a few Nodeservers here that dont / cant exist on local Polisy. Less NS than on PG2. I use the Ring NS from here. PG2 --> Local polisy through the blue Polisy unit. Store offers more NS than PGC, but a few, like the ring, aren't able to be local. PG3 --> ??? Purpose? will PGC and PG2 be migrated to PG3? Will I need to install it on my Blue Polisy? Must have missed something here. Any further explanations, plans would be helpful. Thanks!

UPDATE: Never mind.. walked away after this post and it dawned on me what is happening. When the Node server updates the day (And 'ISY Time Data' Date < 10) in the above program, at midnight, it re-evalutes the if and therefore it becomes true for 5 minutes...until 12:05 am.. will simply change that to 11:55pm or create an Integer value for it. LOL...

Have a simple program to turn on outside and multiple inside xmas light decorations. Often if I go to bed before the program turns them off, I will have ask Alexa to turn them off, which works fine. But then at midnight, they come back on. I have checked using find/replace in programs for any other links to these devices and there are none. I have two other programs, that are related, but one only runs at startup to re-initialize the variable, the second changes the variable w/o any If or calls for it. Any ideas? Xmas lights Program - [ID 00D3][Parent 0013] If $Xmas_Lights is 1 And ( From Sunset - 1 hour To 12:05:00AM (next day) Or From 6:30:00AM To Sunrise + 1 hour (same day) ) And ( 'ISY Time Data' Month is December Or 'ISY Time Data' Month is January Or 'ISY Time Data' Month is February Or ( 'ISY Time Data' Month is March And 'ISY Time Data' Date < 10 ) ) Then Set 'Xmas Lights' On Set 'Kasa Controller / Plug 1' On Set 'Kasa Controller / Plug 2' On Set 'Kasa Controller / Plug 3' On Set 'Z-1 On-Off Power Switch' On Else Set 'Xmas Lights' Off Set 'Kasa Controller / Plug 1' Off Set 'Kasa Controller / Plug 2' Off Set 'Kasa Controller / Plug 3' Off Set 'Z-1 On-Off Power Switch' Off

Very simple instructions requested to get ISY on Polisy
dbwarner5 replied to someguy's topic in IoX Support
UPDATE: Re-added port forwarding for my camera back to 8008 and ISY on Polisy works as expected! Now have both ISY and ISY on Polisy showing up in finder w/o prompting! -
UPDATE --> PROBLEM SOLVED BY @Michel Kohanim as usual! Problem: I was using SSL (https vs http). Once I added that to my isy finder, backup ran w/o errors, in about 10 minutes. Thanks for everyone's input.
-
@Geddy Yes interesting that at this site, https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Errors_And_Error_Messages -17001 isn't listed as an error. Just ran the back up again. took just under 50 minutes. Error log stops at time of initiation of backup, with nothing after it, although I had dozens of socket errors. Will wait for ticket response, but need to get this nailed down before any thoughts of moving to isy on polisy. thanks
-
@Geddy Yes I have the ISY Inventory NS. I have opened a ticket. Just tried to run it again and it just crashed saying it could not create the zip file. No firewall, No VPN.. This is a new error. Will run it again to see what happens when it completes. Wow. looking at my error log, I am getting a few errors every second. But nothing in regards to this attempted backup. Will try it again. 1930230434_ISYErrorLog_v5.3.3__Wed2022_01_0510_43_05AM.txt

ISY on Polisy v5.3.0 (IoP) - OUTDATED
dbwarner5 replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in Previous Releases
Is there any configuration needs once I attach the Zooz ZST10 to the Polisy? If I have to rebuild my zwave network, I assume I have to rebuild all programs and scenes that have any zwave devices in them too? UPDATE: found this in first post regarding configuration of z-wave, but still wondering about second question. How to use Z-Wave: - Plugin your Zooz Stick in one of the USB ports on ISY - Go to Admin Console | Configuration, check Z-Wave Support checkbox. Save and then click on the Reboot button - From that point, Z-Wave works as it does on the ISY-994 with the following exceptions --- Backup/Restore of the Z-Wave dongle is not yet available --- Z-Wave | Z-Wave Version is likely to be blank - Note: for now, S2 is not yet supported -

@carealtor yes I understand 8080.. that is what I said. I originally had a typo in my post, so am not sure if you saw that or didnt read it closely enough. Either way, I notice earlier in this thread and elsewhere that people are having problems with other devices on port 8008, such as the Hue Emulator. I noticed that I too had something on that port and when I eliminated it, all worked fine. Why is this happening? I dont know. thanks, and yes I usually have to add my WAN settings to the finder each time I want to use it remotely. -

Thank you @kzboray for the excellent directions on how to update my Polisy. It took quite a while but seemed to run as expected. For Mac users: you dont need puTTy as you can just use Terminal However, I still cant get the polisy to show in the ISY Finder. My polisy is at https://192.168.68.76:449. I have tried to use that to get to the ISY. I have also tried https://192.168.68.76:8443/desc and http://192.168.68.76:8080/desc, neither have worked. I have a video system that is on port 8008, is that the problem? I am not sure if I can change it but will try that next. Any suggestions? Below is my system info. Have checked for updates. None available after using the ssh updates. thanks. UPDATE: I have port forwarding on my router for port 8008 to my camera system. Once I deleted that, I had no problem finding the ISY on the Polisy at :8443 Now need to see if I can change the camera system, but need to boot up an old windows PC which can take hours. lol. -
@Geddy yes. thanks. I have seen that thread before too, and hence my gyrations around my switch / router, trying to eliminate it. I will double check any firewall software and see if that changes things as well. ISY is fairly old, PLM has been replaced probably with in the last 2-3 years. Plan to do a restore to the PLM sometime, but have to face the bullet of dealing with all my battery operated devices when I do it, so trying to eliminate other things first. Will probably open a ticket at some point. thanks.

Not true. This Nodeserver is extremely powerful. You can have all kinds of notifications. Please read the README and feel free to reach out. @Jimbo did a great job with this NS. See a few screenshots of notifications I get.
-
Thanks.. I had already done that a while ago. These errors are not new. I also get them when I am just using the admin console and making changes to scene settings etc. I will change to 1024 to see if that does anything

When doing backups, I get a series of the following two errors, throughout the process: Socket Open Failed java.net.socketTimoutException Socket Open Failed Java.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Remote host terminated the handshake Backups continue and complete. Are they good backups? and what else can I try to do to eliminate these errors with the following information / constraints of my system; Firmware 5.3.3, matching UI Mac with all backups to be stored on the Mac Have tried using the Admin Console both LAN and Cloud Wireless base unit only has two inputs; currently one for the WAN, the other various attempts shown below (TP-Link Deco Mesh) Elapsed time can take between 20 and 40 minutes to complete Home Network setup and variations I have tried as I assume this is where the problem lies?: Mac connected wirelessly to my LAN with the ISY connected to a large switch and then back to my wireless router (standard setup) Mac connected via ethernet to my ethernet switch with ISY connected to same switch Mac connected wirelessly to my LAN with ISY connected via ethernet cable to the same wireless router Disconnect wifi from router, plug both the Mac an ISY into the router. ISY Finder locates ISY but stays red when I click on it w/o giving any options for Admin Same as above, but have my Mac also using my phone as a hotspot in case wifi is needed, same result. Isy shows up but stays red. Appears that the router wont work properly w/o internet Internet to router, router with short run to a small 5 port switch, with Mac and ISY attached. Mac and ISY connected via wire to a second Deco Mesh unit which is wireless 5 ft from main wifi base Is there a way to directly connect my Mac to the ISY and find it? Is there something else that is causing the problem? Maybe I need to pick up a cheap router for just backing up? Thanks.

Is RadioRA3 the Ultimate Replacement For Insteon?
dbwarner5 replied to upstatemike's topic in Coffee Shop
One more question, I see in the Insteon Inventory thread, that @simplextech mentions using both Caseta and Radio RA2, depending on application / cost. Does that mean that the Radio RA2 hub can integrate the Caseta line? or does this require two separate hubs / systems. If its one hub, then I assume the Radio RA2 node server can read the caseta info as well then for integration into the ISY? -
Is RadioRA3 the Ultimate Replacement For Insteon?
dbwarner5 replied to upstatemike's topic in Coffee Shop
ahhh.. a light bulb just came on.. no pun intended.. I keep looking at the PG Caseta and see its only for blinds so could not understand all the dialogue about integration of lutron. But I just found the ST-RA2Select and ST-RadioRA2 NSs (maybe they should start with Lutron?) That helps enormously, combined with the lutron links.. Sound like my current path forward (for myself as Insteon fails) and for my friend will be RadioRA2 products / hub and NS. which can be backward integrated as time moves forward with RA3 hub and switches and a "future NS". Thanks!!! -
Is RadioRA3 the Ultimate Replacement For Insteon?
dbwarner5 replied to upstatemike's topic in Coffee Shop
@DAlter01 @lilyoyo Thanks for your replies. What isn't clear to me about RA3 and your suggestion from the posts: -Consumer Caseta products are only RA2, so it only an assumption that they will move to RA3? -Pro level lutron RA3 devices would be available after the online course but at retail prices after Jan22? -Controller for each of the above? Polisy with unknown integration capabilities at this point? Have I summarized that correctly? if so, then wait is clearly the path since none of the above are known at this time. -
@Ajaxanything left?

I purchased 3 Kasa plugs from amazon while they were on sale. They all integrate easily with Polisy and work as expected. Occasionally they lose wifi, but simply cycling them on / off the regain. The biggest drawback is that I recently had to change my wifi.. each device had to be reset. I would continue to use them sparingly due to wifi, but have no complaints.

Is RadioRA3 the Ultimate Replacement For Insteon?
dbwarner5 replied to upstatemike's topic in Coffee Shop
A low to mid range "Prosumer" here. Grew into a very large integrated system over many years starting with X10. Have been with ISY for many years. Love the flexibility, power, reliability, customizability, Alexa and now Polyglots that allow even broader integration. Have a friend that is evaluating adding home automation and has come to me for advice. He would eventually fall into a prosumer group. For all the reasons I love my ISY / Polisy, after reading this forum, I am at a loss as to what to say to him. a) go with Polisy and Insteon --> nothing is available, and dying technology? b) go with a Polisy and utilize (bad) z-wave switches in a limited way and hope for Insteon to revive? c) go with a Polisy and buy the consumer RA2 Lutron and hub and hope for full future integration into Polisy per @Jimbo I assume that you can use a Polisy w/o a PLM for z-wave and Lutron consumer products? So w/o Insteon products available, and mixed reviews on a full house of z-wave and unknown integration for Lutron to Polisy, there doesn't seem to be logical path forward to recommend the use of a Polisy? Any thoughts from all the experts on this forum? As stated much earlier in this forum the Prosumer is getting the squeeze out here and a great product like the ISY / Polisy will get lost due to lack of affordable / reliable devices to connect to? Any thoughts welcome. Thanks! -
Simple question, @Michel Kohanimprobably has a complex and legal answer, but here goes anyway: In regards to Insteon, the PLM has always been one of the weakest links in the chain (besides ceiling fan modules and the new junk MSIIs!!). But it is also the MOST critical. With limitations of 1000 links and constant failures, it greatly detracts from the awesome UD technology. Cant the Polisy have an optional module in it that would replace the PLM, using its own AC cord to get into the line and its own RF transmitter? That way, we would have UD reliability etc etc.

@Techman I am pushing just under 900 links in my PLM. In 2017, Chris Jahn wrote the following post where he says: QUESTIONS: If I do the restore w/o the factory reset of the PLM, per Chris's directions, will I: -reclaim unused links? -need to re-establish my battery operated devices? Thanks
