I couldn't use http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/3.3.8/admin.jnlp without it forcing me to upgrade to Java 7 version 10. Should I try to go back to Java 6? I went from 3.3.6 to 3.3.8. Can someone please give me a link to Java 6 so I can re-install? Thanks!

How do I write a program to notify me when the power goes out and comes back on and when the internet goes out and comes back on? I have an Elk M1G...not sure if it's needed to do this or not. Thanks for your help!
-
Yeah, the ISY will not find backyard stations so you have to type your station ID into the "Location ID" ie. mine is p15937.

Is there a way to get the XEP to use the Elk power source? My electrician put an electrical outlet inside my Elk cabinet so the Elk plug and XEP plug are all in the cabinet with no wires showing anywhere. I'm not sure how to us a UPS with the XEP in my setup without wires going from the cabinet and to the cabinet. If I could get the XEP to run off the Elk power I could then use the Elk battery instead of the UPS.That would keep everything inside the Elk cabinet. Any ideas on that?

I think I will do the last option. I would also like to get notifications of alarms even during a power outage. For that I would have to have the ISY, modem, router, and M1XEP all on backup power. What do you mean by switches?
-
The router, ISY, modem and 1 other device uses about 20 Watts on standby. I will need one UPS for those devices. Since the M1EXP is in the Elk cabinet and in a different location, it will need it's own UPS. The M1EXP is only 7Watts on standby but since it's in the elk cabinet it will be difficult to put on a UPS. Thoughts?

Good points guys! I won't connect the PLM to the UPS. Any idea what size or kind of UPS to get? Thanks!
-
Hey guys! I'm wanting to put my router, modem, ISY, & PLM on a UPS. I'm wanting to do this so my Elk will send me notifications through the ISY when the power goes out. I know UPSs can cause communication problems so I was wondering if you guys can make a suggestion for a UPS for this application? Thanks!

The backyard guy and the programmer think they have UV info (light) now going to Weatherbug. They are wanting me to test it but I wont be able to until a few days from now. They are making great progress though.
-
I'm working with the backyard station guy. Since I have my own station the rain rate is VERY accurate.
-
I just got out of a chat from the main backyard guy and a programmer. The are close to adding UV sensor and solar radiation sensor info to the weatherbug stations.

What is they provided something like this... http://weather.albury.net.au/weatherlink/ha.htm?jmed999

Michel, can you be more specific when you say "rain"? Do you mean only with backyard stations? Please explain so I can comunicate this to them. I'm currently having problems with all my rates = 0 see here...http://data.backyard2.weatherbug.com/data/ecv.aspx?ID=p15937&NUM=27533  Thanks for your support Michel!

Thanks for chiming in. I'm now trying to get Weatherbug to provide us more infor from our stations. See this thread... http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=17601.0 Michel, do you care to tell them how they could improve the in for they provide to our Climate modules? I have their ear so anything we would like to improve they are willing to listen. Thanks for your help!

Guys, I have Weatherbug's ear and they are wanting to know how they can improve their data for our climate module. Please go here and post any improvements you can think of. The more we request the more action we will get. http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=17601.0 Thanks for helping me! jmed999

Exactly! Thanks for the info. Weather Underground give a lot more info too. Here is the difference. My weatherbug site... http://data.backyard2.weatherbug.com/data/ecv.aspx?ID=p15937&NUM=27533  My WeatherUnderground site... http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=29803&sp=KSCAIKEN13

Not everyone has VWS or Weatherlink. We do all use weather underground though. If I could ask for a change it would be to use WeatherUnderground and not Weatherbug! One could create a script to get the info from Weather Underground. This would be a huge advancement in the climate module! Or use weatherlink. You could get all the info from weatherlink and send to our controller. On another though...is VWS free? If so that may be the way to go since using WU would cost the UD guys $$$.

Go here... http://backyard.weatherbug.com/profiles/blogs/weatherbug-publishing And post on that blog like I did and they will tell you how to sign up. They will tell you to go here... http://weather.albury.net.au/weatherlink/index.htm Put in some dummy answer to the two blanks and it will go to the next screen. You can enter your info there. He will give you a free 7 day trail. You may want to post questions on the blog since they are there to help and not here. It is only $18/yr. That alone is worth not having a computer running 24/7/365. Hope this helps!

It would be nice if we could get our ISY to either get data directly from the Davis station or directly from Weather Underground. There's a ton of stations around me that are on Wunderground but not on weatherbug, hence the reason I had to buy my own. Most of the weather station owners do not like weatherbug. Wunderground has much more useful info for our ISYs as compared to weatherbug. ie. light percentage, forecasting, historical charts, etc. The guy in the links above uses a srting to read from weatherlink to send data to weathebug so you don’t need a meteohub. The same could be done to read from Wunderground to send to the ISY.

You guys may also be interested in this... viewtopic.php?f=26&t=10176 You can access your own station via you Davis VP2 using WeatherlinkIP. Check out the last link in the thead I linked the service is $18/year and works great!

I am working with Weatherbug to try to get light data to our climate module. I'm hoping they will be able to provide this soon. You can follow here... http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=17586.0

My local weather station was over 10 miles away and lot of times I would get rain at my house but the local weather station detected no rain. I really wanted to use evapotranspiration (ET) with my EZRain sprinkler system. So I purchased a weather station, put it in my backyard and now my ISY is using my station for ET. I bought a Davis Vantage Pro 2 with a 24 hour fan. I bought the WeatherlinkIP which came with a data logger. http://www.rainmanweather.com/site/products/Davis-Vantage-Pro2-24-Hr-Fan-and-WeatherLinkIP-Package'>http://www.rainmanweather.com/site/products/Davis-Vantage-Pro2-24-Hr-Fan-and-WeatherLinkIP-Package As a package deal I paid $705. Be sure to enter your e-mail addy on that page to see the rock bottom price. You could also use this package if you wanted http://www.rainmanweather.com/site/products/Davis-Vantage-Pro2-24-Hr-Fan-and-WeatherLinkIP-Package For less than $450. I just wanted to step it up a notch. The WeatherlinkIP allows you to connect the console to the internet without having your computer running 24/7. I was told I would also need a Meteohub but the guys at Weatherbug Backyard stations have figured out how to upload data without the Meteohub. You can instead use this method for $18/year... http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=16420.0 and this http://weather.albury.net.au/weatherlink/index.htm I hope this is helpful to some of you! I not only use it for ET but also for alarming me when the wind speed is over a certain value and to notify me when it rains and total daily rain.

Sorry I think this statement is confusing you...""The green lights are on when the garage doors open when they shouldn't. " It means the green light is on when the garage doors are closed but the ISY opens it anyways. So the green light is on when the garage doors are closed which is the "on" position of the device.
-
Tonight was a great example of the erratic behavior.... I have programs that close the 2 garage doors at sunset and another set of programs that will close the doors at 10PM. After a while they started to open when they were closed instead of just staying closed. So I added a notification 10 minutes before sunset and 10 minutes before 10PM if the garage doors were going to close. Tonight 10 minutes before 10PM I got a text telling me at 10PM the ISY was going to close the garage doors. I immediately walked into the garage and noticed they were both closed and the little green light was on both devices. I waited and at 10PM the ISY opened one of the garage doors. I believe this means nothing is wrong with the sensors. Does this mean it must be a comm issue? How can I further diagnose the problem? Please help!

This means the green light in on when the garage doors are closed but the program opens them up. The program should be closing them.
