F.Y.I. I have one thermostat running on batteries and another with an external power supply. When I query them it has no effect on the display.
-
hart2hart, In that case you may want to try exchanging it. My 2441ZTH's have firmware v.0D. Not sure what firmware you have, but they may have made some changes which could be causing issues.
-
dougos2 and hart2hart, Have you tried removing the external power supply and running it only on batteries? Are you using the 2441ZTH as a stand alone product or is it a slave to another thermostat? Have you tried a factory reset?

Take a look at your error log to see if you have any HamWeather related entries.
-
What type of light bulb are you using?

I noticed that the are not building the device but will sell the plans. Maybe UDI should look into this.

What's the advantage/disadvantage of unchecking the "send cleanup messages" box?

This is a helpful article on troubleshooting Insteon signal problems. http://www.elavenue.com/insteon_test_data.html

You may be at the edge of the operating envelope for the thermostat. Take a look at the attached specs.
-
In the ISY at the bottom of the screen for the Keypad you find an option for adjusting the KPL led backlight. You can set the brightness for both the on and off levels.
-
You may have to add a resistor in series with the 5v supply. I had a similar issue, the resistor resolved it. Take a look at this post. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/8882-new-insteon-wireless-thermostat-2441zth-us/page-6?hl=resistor&do=findComment&comment=81700

If you're going to use them again next year why not disable the devices in the ISY then unplug them, The scenes and programs would remain intact.
-
Try removing power from both the PLM and the ISY then power up the PLM, wait 10 seconds then power up the ISY.

It's possible that the meter is interfering with the Insteon signal. Do you have any dual band devices and/or access points installed. If not you may want to add access points to improve the Insteon signal ( assuming that the 99i will support them)
-
In addition Paulbates's comment, have you recently added any new devices? The now discontinued 99i does not support some of the newer modules. The problem could also be caused by interference from electrical devices. Have you added any new electronics? Do you have any CFL bulbs, if so the ballasts sometimes go bad injecting noise into the power line which can interfere with the Insteon signal.

Possibly a bad XXX What is XXX?

k5map, If you want to adjust the on and off levels of the KPL backlight you could do it in program. This affects all the buttons on the KPL. This program dims the backlight at Sunset and brightens it at sunrise. If From Sunset To sunrise (next day) Then set 'KPL name' On 3 / Off 2 (Backlight level) Else Set 'KPL name' On 8 / Off 2 (Backlight level)

Mine shows a change as small as 1 degree. It's possible that there may be a delay in the thermostat reporting in order to prolong battery life.
-
If you're in the planning/building stage be sure to have your electrician install a neutral wire in each switch box as the Insteon dual band devices require both a hot lead and a neutral in addition to a ground.
-
You could use the wireless Insteon thermostat with a battery eliminator power supply. You could then write a program to have the ISY email you if the temperature and/or humidity reaches a programmed threshold.
-
Seems the biggest reason for the Insteon device failure is caused by black outs/brown outs and power surges . It's best to add a whole house surge protector at the main panel(s) especially if you're located in an area that has an unstable power grid.

If you use a program to turn on your applianceLinc based on temperature you won't have to worry about setting heat/cool points and/or modes in the thermostat. I've replaced batteries in my thermostat and it came back online without any button pushes, etc. Not sure what happens if you're using "mode" to control your applianceLinc. It's possible the thermostat may revert to off as a safety measure. Guess you could pull the batteries then put them back in to see what happens.
-
Try a factory reset on the thermostat, it's possible something in its memory got corrupted.
-
The mode setting is a moot issue as you're only monitoring the temperature changes. The temperature and humidity will update in the ISY regardless of what the mode setting is. My modes are all set on off. If the tstat looses power it should resume sending data when the power is restored.

How about the Insteon motion sensor with a battery eliminator power supply, and you wouldn't need the IOLinc.
