So I have a load in a 3 way situation (2 Icon switches controlling). One of those switches I want to change to a Keypadlinc. Will the KPI play well in that scenario and what special notes should I be aware of? Thanks!
-
Can I have a different ramp rate in the node (closet light) versus the that same light in a scene (that light is the only thing in that scene) when these are part of program?
-
Are you double tapping the switch maybe?
-
So if I do that, and every time the MS "re-triggers", will it go back to the "Initiating Program"? If so, when it gets to the "Ramp Up" program, the "if" will be false and it will run the Else (which is blank so nothing would happen. Any or all of this correct?
-
oberkc - Everything seems to be working great. I just had to add another program to have the light turn off at 6:31. (She has gotten used to just walking in and out not touching the switch and counting on the MS and 5 min timer in the program to take care of it). Thanks again!
-
1 Other question - As long as motion is sensed the light will stay on correct? I assume it sends it back to the "Initiating Program" and starts over.

Worked great that time. Learned something about the disabled programs. If disabled, thought they wouldnt do anything even if called on by other programs. I also assume that if you call a certain path that it just starts that path and continues "down" running everything below it?? It doesnt just run the one call I assume. I have also pretty much ignored the "Else" because it is hardly used (that I have seen). This one is a good example of how it can be used effectively. I will let you know how it goes for the morning closet ramp up. Thanks again!

I see part of the problem. I have now removed the "If" in the "Anytime" program.

oberkc - Let me start with this question. You show about the middle of your response to permanently disable "Closet MS Disable". But then toward the bottom you include that same program in your "Next Program". What I am running into right of the bat is the the light wont go below 40%. I can usually figure something easy like that out but not this time. Here are the programs I have so far: Initiating Program If Control 'Master Closet MS - Sensor' is switched On Then Run Program 'Margie Closet Morning' (If) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Margie Closet Morning If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri From 5:30:00AM To 6:30:00AM (same day) Then Run Program 'Closet Morning Ramp Up' (If) Else Run Program 'Closet Anytime On' (Then Path) Closet Morning Ramp Up If Status 'Margies Closet Light' is Off Then Set 'Margies Closet Light' 40% Wait 5 seconds Set Scene 'Master Closet Light' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Closet Anytime On If Control 'Master Closet MS - Sensor' is switched On Then Set 'Margies Closet Light' 100% Wait 5 minutes Set Scene 'Master Closet Light' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Looks like maybe the Closet Morning Ramp Up is True as soon as the light is turned off and triggers the "then". Status changes, it re-checks the "If" - It is now false and runs "else". ??
-
You are correct - that was my original question. I will add that "AND" back in. Thanks for the advice.

oberkc - I knew there was a reason oberkc - I knew there was a reason I had the light condition included but couldn't think of it when I responded to you. Now I remembered. Adding "status light is off" in the "if" took care of the MS sensing her leaving the room as she is shutting off the light (there is a reason she shuts it off with the switch that early in the morning) and turning it back on. I have about a 10 sec ramp rate so that gives time to switch the light off and leave while still not meeting the condition of light off.

Great! When starting to program this closet and split the programs - I was probably focused on (what you guys in this forum have taught me) separating programs to prevent a status change from making a loop. Then I keep wanting to satisfy other living conditions and added more programs, That's when it got muddy! Took me awhile to digest the above suggestions and it looks MUCH cleaner. These programs have been working fine but the disabling probably slowed things down. I will make the changes tonight. Thanks!

Thanks Lee I guess the way I looked at it is say it is 5:45 and she walks in. I want it to initially go to 40% (so that the light is no intense that early). The "if" items are true in both programs. I just didn't want it go to 100%.

I have 2 programs for the same light/switch/MS setup. During a 1 hour period of time, they look like they can fight each other. My question is in the scenarios below, what likely will be the outcome of "closet on anytime" happening between 530 and 630? In other words, which one will win and why? Morning Closet Entry If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri From 5:30:00AM To 6:30:00AM (same day) And ( Control 'Master Closet MS - Sensor' is switched On And Status 'Margies Closet Light' is Off ) Then Run Program 'Closet MS Disable' (Then Path) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Closet MS Disable If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Disable Program 'Morning Closet Entry' Set 'Margies Closet Light' 40% Wait 5 seconds Set Scene 'Master Closet Light' On Enable Program 'Morning Closet Entry' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Closet on Anytime If Control 'Master Closet MS - Sensor' is switched On Then Set 'Margies Closet Light' 100% Wait 5 minutes Set Scene 'Master Closet Light' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
-
Parisi - Once it is in linking mode, then you go to "Link Management" on top of the ISY Console and select "new Insteon Device". A box will pop up where you can add the address and name. Or you can select "Start Linking"
-
Ahh makes sense - I should have seen that. I will try separating the programs. Thanks!

My goal is to have a MS set the light to 30% then have it slowly "fade" up to 100%. I thought this would work but it just stays at 30%. I do have the scene ramp rate set to 2 minutes.Thoughts? If Control 'Master Closet MS - Sensor' is switched On And Status ' Closet Light' is Off Then Set ' Closet Light' 30% Wait 5 seconds Set Scene 'Master Closet Light' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

Thanks Teken! As I mentioned, I am no longer having issues with that IO Linc since I moved the ISY/PLM next to the electric box BUT It is more of a general concern when I look at error traces/scene tests. I do plan on getting some range extenders. I have about 3600 Sq feet of house.

I have confirmed it is a 2413S V 1.3

Hi Guys, I am trying to better my communications. I don't have big issues but want to improve. It started when I just added and IO Linc. It took awhile for the ISY to add it (in my experience, when there is good comm, it finds it right away). Then when it did add it, the communications with it was hit and miss. I have 2 access points. I have done the "tap" tests many times. I do get some green lights. But what I did was move the PLM/ISY really close to the electrical box. The IO Linc was found right away. My scene tests all succeed but my Hops Left are 1 or 0. What is the current version of the PLM? It has been a few years since I bought mine - I think it like version 1.3? Would it help if I upgraded the PLM?

One follow up question - Is it necessary to have both the responder (Lamplinc in this case) and the sensor in the scene? Or do I not need both?
-
My first shot at programming with MS. Will this program reset the timer every time motion is sensed again? Based on my research it will. If so, please indicate why so I can confirm my knowledge: If From Sunset - 1 hour To Sunrise + 2 hours (next day) And Control 'Office Sensor' is switched On Then Wait 15 minutes Set 'Lamplinc' 8 (Beep Duration) Wait 10 seconds Set Scene 'Office Lamp' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
-
Ok - I have been working at this now for awhile. This link was VERY helpful. http://forum.smarthome.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4744&SearchTerms=irlinc The only question now is CAN I do this programmatically through the ISY. If so, is that better or should I just do a scene with multi-linking and leave the ISY out of it? Anyone?
-
Lee - It does appear I am mixing some things up. First - I do have the 2411R (but it does come with the credit card remote which would transmit). Second - I do not want to control any of the theatre equipment with the 2411R, my Harmony does what I need it to do with macro commands. So my objectives are to have a scene triggered after those macros run (Receiver, TV, etc is turned on and correct sources are chosen). I want to have it turn off the lights in the rooms that surround the room with the TV. Thanks for the help!
