  1. How long does the compressor run for when it kicks on? While what you have should work, I'm wondering if the off program is technically running already prior to the compressor turning off so the wait is already running while on. Since you're using x10 I don't believe there is status like you would have if you used insteon or zwave. My next guess would be with using x10. The off cmamd is simply sent from the main unit when it powers down. You can test for this by disabling your off program to see what happens.
  2. This wouldn't work anyway as he wants the fans to stay on after the compressor turns off
  3. I wouldn't call that hacking the fridge since nothing was done directly to the fridge. The fan was added externally to how sir from the enclosure not built into the fridge. Nothing he has done can be seen by the manufacturer nor can it be used to deny a warranty claim
  4. I agree with both Simplextech and MWester. I don't see why all these people think UDI needs an app to "sell more product". The truth is, those focusing on an app aren't interested in taking the time needed to setup and program an ISY. They want ease of use and a pretty interface. There are 2 sides to this argument. Those who want automation and work to achieve that goal and those who want control. I see why the control people clamor for an app. They don't want to invest the time needed to achieve automation (some may just want a pretty interface to show off). What they don't understand is what the isy was designed for in the first place which is why UDI never bothered to create an app For UDI to take the time to build an app it needs to be done where is much better than what mobilinc or anyone else can provide otherwise it's a waste of time/resources and a blow to their reputation. As Simplextech pointed out, a move like that could hurt them with their most ardent supporters as something will have to give. Those looking for form over function are fickle. They're the ones most likely to complain even more since it's still not what they want. Then abandon ship to the "next best thing". Anything short of a control4/savant type look will be a disappointment. Agave and Mobilinc are being developed. Those complaining about the time don't realize the work needed to design and develop one. (Command fusion will give you a taste). From what I see, the Agave developer does need to do more (since he is charging a large amount), but he is still working at improving things. I hope UDI doesn't go down the app road but time will tell.
  5. The mobile app idea is beating a dead horse. That's far from being on UDIs roadmap. Though not supported by other apps, most likely as nodeservers grow, app makers will include them. Wes has stated he is looking into supporting nodeservers directly. While no timeline is given, it would happen much faster through him than UDI as they would need to build from scratch. Wes did state if nodes are read as regular devices then they should work within the current mobilinc X app though it hasn't been tested
  6. UPnP has never been enabled on my Ubiquity network nor any router I've ever owned without any issue. As long as devices are on my same network I've never had a single instance with any hardware giving me a hard time.
  7. Yes. its that way by default. Most routers have UPnP turned off.
  8. Yes it's expected. The isy unzips the file to read. Your computer can't do it
  9. What are you trying to accomplish? If the isy won't see your sensor then it can't work with scenes
  10. Uffys way is a better way as you would need to leave the house to notice the lights are on. Personally, I would invest in sensors that would turn off the lights automatically if no one is in the closets.
  11. You'll still have to do the same things with the official version so you might as well get it out of the way
  12. See Michel's post from above
  13. While this doesn't mean everyone's Polisy will be shipping right now, I've received my notification this morning stating that it was available now.
  14. That sounds like more work and a recipe for disaster. There is a greater chance of introducing more problems over 1 device than fixing what you have now. Besides ZX there's no guarantee that would even if nothing else happens Create a folder and put the programs in that which include the lock. You can also take a picture of the programs instead to know what what you need to fix.
  15. If you're needing multiple programs to ensure things are off, I would look at your communication and work towards fixing the issue. While that can work (and an easier fix) you could be creating a bigger headache since any communication that is happening will prevent other communication from happening at that moment.
  16. Most zwave devices need to tap to put them into the mode needed to update them. I don't use monoprice So I can't speak for them. However with my fibaro and Dome sensors I have to tap the B button on them for them to accept changes
  17. If you have a zwave network it's the way I would go. If not be aware you will need to build out your zwave network to get things to work properly
  18. I like the old way as well. However, with being able to combine different types of devices (that require different settings), this was the best way
  19. They'll be separate devices and wouldn't interfere with each other. Insteon devices could potentially have interference if snow to communicate with each other. This would only be a problem if both setups issue commands at the same time
  20. You have to remember that these setups like Alexa, Google, ring, etc. are there for the non savvy homeowners, renters, etc. For the most part, people who really don't understand the full consequences of what they desire to do. Due to their consumer base, Amazon (and other in similar situations) will err on the side of caution when it comes to security regardless of whether their concerns are real or perceived. Unlike the homeowner, they have to deal with stuff we don't such as the gotcha media, lawsuits, etc. Even for me, there are things that I won't do for clients that I do in my own home. It's not worth the risk.
  21. It'll see the light of day. Personally, I think insteon should focus on hardware. Sure, have the hub for those who seek ease of use or small projects but leave the heavy lifting to companies who specializes in that such as UDI. That way they can focus on what they know most without spreading themselves so thin that everything suffers. Listening to Steve Lee's comments and this new Plm, I suspect they are going to start focusing on the professional installer. While consumers will always have a place, they are finicky. Ready to jump at a moment's notice. However, if they can get builders, developers, and installers buying their wares, their business will grow exponentially more.
  22. We're not talking about zwave. ?
  23. I guess if it's said often enough eventually someone will be able to say I told you so. Having sales isn't indicative of going out of business. It's a way of composing with low cost competitors without diluting their brand as well as a quick cash grab. I'm regards to engineering not responding- what engineering department from any company responds? UDI is the most accessible company I've seen but outside of troubleshooting, you don't hear a ton of other stuff. If engineers took fine to respond to customers they wouldn't have time to do their job. That's why there's tech support and customer service. Welcome to the good ole USA. The land where customer support is outsourced to other countries and/or replaced by software that forces you to repeatt yourself 20x when saying option 2. That's not going out of business, unfortunately it's the American way. If that was how we judged if a business wouldn't be around, the whole country would shut down
  24. I do both. While I always plan on using the portal, should something happen or change, I'll still have the network module available
  25. Any zwave device that has energy monitoring will do that such as the aeotec smart switch 6. As long as the fan is controlled by a device connected to the isy it would work. One thing to keep in mind is you may need additional devices nearby depending on your zwave network
