Broan Fan controls
I didn't think insteon still made that system for them. The isy recognizes it probably because it is insteon based but it's not an insteon device. The Braun (insteon) firmware is different than standard insteon firmware.

Motion-triggered lighting in home theater
Short answer no. Motion sensors can't tell what you are doing/trying to do at any given moment. The best you can hope for is to position the sensor in a way that it only picks up movement at the door way. If you are using something like example above then it's possible What I did for mine was put a kpl outside of the room (the switches are outside) with different scenes in it. Watch TV, watch movie, watch firestick, etc. Depending on what I choose, it automatically sets the room up the way I want. For example, my watch movie will drop down the projector and screen, turn on the lights and set an auto off. Hitting play on the remote will also trigger the lights off

What do I lose by creating ISY nodes with DSC motion sensors?
If your sensors are directly linked to your lights , you'll lose the speed of direct links as the isy becomes the middle man to relay your signals to devices. I don't mix (double duty) my alarm sensors with jobs my automation sensors should be doing (and vice versus) While it can be done successfully, one errant command/program that causes a false alarm simply isn't worth it.

Polisy and nodeservers?
I don't have a need for wifi either but still ordered for the future. Moreso when the ISY is ported over. There have been times I've done stuff and needed to move my isy closer to something (such as a lock that was already installed). It comes down to moving the isy or taking something apart. By having wifi, it makes it much easier to move around when needed. While I don't need WiFi 99% of the time, I got it for the 1% that I've wished I had since.

The programs will still be there. You'll just need to add the devices to them. I would take a picture of your programs so that you know what goes where

If you've backed up your board you can restore it to the 500 series

2844-222 Insteon Motion Sensor II - USB cable
If using the back cover and don't want to modify the cover then you need the 90 degree cable. There's an indention on the cover that you could drill through if you wanted to use a straight cable (fill once done with silicone if desired) since it's a soft plastic. I've included some pictures of that would help

Beep on button press - Switchlinc Dimmer
Sounds like something in the ISY is triggering it to beep. I would remove the device from the ISY, factory reset it, and re-add it vs restoring it. Note the scenes and programs that its part of and and it back to those once done

What's the event viewer showing? You may have a runaway device

ISY Portal, ISY Dashboard, Home Automation Dashboard, my.isy.io, udajax
I think yall should. With the issues yall are having, someone else might have them in the future as well. Because it doesnt really have anything in common with the original post, it'll make it next to impossible for someone to find a solution to their issue.....But then again; judging by the amount of 5.0 upgrade posts we get daily no one looks anyway. lol

That's just it. The isy was made to control devices not all that extra stuff. There are systems that will accomplish what you want but comes with the associated costs with them. Using fibaro for example, their high end controller has all of that but will cost you close to 900 bucks. For stuff that I do want to know the status of, I have my keypads. While I can lock the doors manually, voice, or via kpl, the system will automatically lock them too. If something goes wrong, I get a notification. No need for a panel or dashboard to long into. My doorbell rings, my TV will automatically switch inputs or I can look at my phone and view the app. I don't need extra stuff to accomplish that. If you have a ring you can do the same with a firestick or firetv. I'm not saying an interface can't be used or wouldn't be nice. Just that there are much better ways at seamlessly integrating all that people use instead of something that may not appeal to most users. At the end of the day, regardless of what UDI does, many still won't like it.

Can I say Alexa OPEN the garage door instead of Alexa turn On the garage door
The isy is the controller

I've never understood the need for an interface. If things are programmed properly the system runs itself. Why spend all this time and money only to sit there and manage stuff more than I would if it weren't automated. I get it if a person is out travelling. However even then I don't want to be checking an app. Let me know something is up vs me having to log into something to find out. To each their own I think that's partly UDI's feeling on the matter. They've created a controller that doesn't need to be managed so why build an interface for monitoring. They understand there are people (for various reasons) that want to manage stuff so they do have ways of doing it. They just aren't willing to put the time and effort into making it happen.

My ISY seems to have gotten forgetful
Are the devices that should trigger the notifications updating in the isy?

Upgrading the zwave board yes but there haven't been I've of those in years. Zwave during the firmware upgrade no

No one has information on release dates. We'll all know once they release it when UDI feels it's ready. Secondary device for what use?

Can I say Alexa OPEN the garage door instead of Alexa turn On the garage door
Yes, it takes the place of your hub. There is information (ISY wiki and ISY cookbook) to get you started but for the most part i've found its mostly self taught. With every home and individual being different no manual can teach how to do everything....even most things. Only through trial and error do you really learn the system. The ISY can do so much trying to read and learn makes things seem worse than they are is there is so much information to take in. There is the ISY cookbook with has lots of detailed information on howto do things and how stuff work. IMO, while highly infomative, it contains so much information that its information overload for a newbie. https://www.universal-devices.com/docs/production/The+ISY994+Home+Automation+Cookbook.pdf

Can I say Alexa OPEN the garage door instead of Alexa turn On the garage door
It does. Unfortunately you can't do what you are trying to do with the hub. The isy is a more advanced controller than what your hub is. While it is worth buying, there is a learning curve with it.

Can I say Alexa OPEN the garage door instead of Alexa turn On the garage door
If you're asking what an ISY is then you are missing the necessary equipment and infrastructure for someone to detail what you need to do. If you can detail what you do have currently we may be able to point you in the right direction to accomplish what you're trying to do

3-Way Wiring - Use ISY , or Not?
If the isy is not aware of what you've done then you'll have problems long term. If you feel better linking outside of the isy you can. Just know anything you do won't be captured by the isy properly. For some things this wouldn't matter but should you expand your system it may and that headache alone would make you wish you had followed the advice of others

ISY Portal, ISY Dashboard, Home Automation Dashboard, my.isy.io, udajax
An app like mobilinc would do that for you. While it may seem like Overkill, is it really when it accomplishes what you want when you want without a headache. The fact that those apps are supported means it always work out you can get help for it. Sure you can use the favor but if it's not being supported what good does it do you when it may not work when you need it to. You're paying for convenience. One other thing you can look at since you have the portal is adding your devices to Alexa or Google home. You can control them through those as well. I don't trust those as much as I would something that's polling my Sistem though for use when I'm not around

Using a devices power draw to trigger another device
How long does the compressor run for when it kicks on? While what you have should work, I'm wondering if the off program is technically running already prior to the compressor turning off so the wait is already running while on. Since you're using x10 I don't believe there is status like you would have if you used insteon or zwave. My next guess would be with using x10. The off cmamd is simply sent from the main unit when it powers down. You can test for this by disabling your off program to see what happens.

Using a devices power draw to trigger another device
This wouldn't work anyway as he wants the fans to stay on after the compressor turns off

Using a devices power draw to trigger another device
I wouldn't call that hacking the fridge since nothing was done directly to the fridge. The fan was added externally to how sir from the enclosure not built into the fridge. Nothing he has done can be seen by the manufacturer nor can it be used to deny a warranty claim
