I think it's supply and demand. There are so many on there for sale no one feels a need to over pay. Even on forums, so many are talking about ripping out their system, buyers know more will come down the pipeline

I believe there's a Node server for itach. You may be able to use that

Wifi has it's place in smart homes/automation/control. It's great for those who aren't really invested in doing a whole home. Maybe they have some Holiday decorations they want to control or a couple of lamps in a few rooms. Telling Google to turn some lights on/off is good enough. For example, I put some wifi led strips under my nephews beds. I could've used hue like i have in my own home but for what they wanted, wifi was more than sufficient. No point in the cost of hue and it's infrastructure for what i was doing. As I said earlier. There's a place for all of these technologies. It doesn't have to be 1 winner -

I don't think it's a threat since a controller can still be part of matter and control zwave devices. Overall, I think there's enough room for everyone as the strength of each system fits different scenarios -
I wonder how much could I get for my Nokia hub ? ?

For once i agree with you though i wouldn't call it mismanagement. There's a huge cost savings when it comes lean manufacturing. I have a client that owns a steel company in Ohio. We were talking about things and he was telling me how much his company saved when they transitioned to a lean manufacturing company. They pay 3x as much when something goes wrong because everything is a rush but those are 1 off events. The costs savings (including downtime from outages), is still much greater than when they kept products on hand. You're talking about tens of millions in savings for these large companies. For him, and most others, COVID was the perfect storm for good and bad. Being lean made his company much more nimble to react to market changes but this pandemic was so great, many were forced to throw out all playbooks and try things just to see what would stick While I'm not into mfg. I get it. I used to carry a large amount of inventory. Now, I carry a couple of spares and for warranty purposes and order everything else when needed. While I'd love to have my stuff at the price i used to pay, because I no longer need the space i had, I'm still saving money even though it costs me more per unit (though it helps that I'm doing new houses so i was able to adjust pricing accordingly).

I'm glad you're liking it. I can see why with the 700 series stuff. I give credit to the new 700 series stuff. Zwave is much better now than it was back with the 3 and 500 series stuff. For my needs though it's still not as easy to use nor flexible enough the way insteon is. TBH, nothing really is. I've been testing RA3 and while the Isy would give it much more capabilities, it's not as flexible with insteon. If UDI can get the API from Lutron, my plan is to go with that and hue bulbs in the lights that i use and do ketra style automation. What do you like about it more -
I doubt anyone who knows would say anything as that could effect the sale

There's half a dozen recent threads where this is discussed on the Smarthome sub-forum. The second post there has Michel's response. Regardless, until it happens it will only be hope and speculation

A developer would need to have an API for it to develop a Node server for it. Due to time and effort, they most likely would want a public API so they don't need to constantly fight to keep up with the mfg making changes that breaks the Node server. The more information you provide (such as getting the API) the greater the chance someone may make one. Popular demand helps as well. While you may be willing to pay for it, they probably would want more people willing to pay to make it worth the investment.

Home assistant forum is the best place to ask this question. Its their software

In addition to being UDI's future controller You have more options with polisy to work with insteon Isy=2413s Polisy= 2413s, 2413u, 2448a7

That's what I meant. That's what I get for swypimg while driving

What port do you have your PLM plugged into? Make sure it is port A. Try factory resetting the PLM. Make sure isy is unplugged until the PLM is finished factory resetting and powered back on. Then power on the isy. Try a different cable as well

I agree with you but it's cheaper to piggyback off someone else's work than develop a new technology from scratch. No one wants to take that chance and have it fail -

That covers everything currently out there for the most part -
Yes. Factory reset your Isy per the instruction manual (Google ISY factory reset). Then go to the current release sub forum and download the 5.3.4 firmware. Once done, add your devices. Programs are individually unique to a person's lifestyle. The Isy is cayenne of great things. You're only limited by your imagination and skill

It's whatever you want to use. If you like zwave go with zwave. If you want to try wifi switches you can. Smart bulbs are even an option. The point that I'm making is to try different things and see what you like. There is no specific technology that's a must have...only what fits what you're trying to accomplish. Personally i don't see the point in changing. The sheer number of insteon devices on eBay will keep the price from jumping too high
