I had that happen some time ago. I had to delete my MobiLinc account and reenter it. It would await insteonnut before taking that step.

Have you resented MobiLinc with the ISY?

The above experience is yet another example of the generosity and expertise of those at this forum.

Success is always sweet!

Thanks guys. The house seems solid from an electrical perspective. Rarely, I may have an RF device need a soft reset but this is the first time anything of this magnitude has happened. Loss of communications with these few RF devices is not my primary concern. What I am concerned with is that the ISY opened with the Admin Console, displayed several small windows saying it could not communicate with several devices and "froze"—I could do nothing. On the other hand, ModiLinc showed those devices as unaccessible but continued to work as designed. My best guess is that an electrical anomaly, such as a power interruption, caused these events. But note, the first thing I did was a power reset of the ISY and that did not resolve the problem. I had to do a soft reset of every RF device that had failed to communicate before the ISY could be successfully accessed from the Admin Console. That, to me, is both weird and a bit alarming. Why did the ISY freeze because of these RF devices? If anything further of this sort happens I will report back.

Brian: Thanks but your feedback is a bit "above this old man's pay grade"! In layman's terms, could a violent thunderstorm/power outage have contributed/caused what I experienced?
-
Yes, that was part of my initial restoration process. I found 3 other devices that needed a soft reset. All the devices that failed were not dual band! Nothing left to do but wait and see. All seems to be working now.
-
Yes. That was part of my overall restoration process. Interestingly, it appears that all the devices that failed were not dual band. I found three more devices yesterday that needed a soft reset. These devices were scattered about the home. Thus far, today, everything seems to be working fine. Nothing apparent left to do but wait and see. Thanks to all.

Michel: I looked at the URLs and found nothing that would point to the problem
-
Thanks for the feedback, Michel. I appreciate your reminder that I need to look carefully at the URLs you supplied. I shall. No, I had no green/gray icons. I had some devices that simply did not display their status and three or four produced messages in the opening screen of the ISY that those devices could not be found. Typically, I can click on these and close them. In this case, the ISY froze at this point and I could do nothing but quit. All is well at this moment but I have concerns about the future. Off to look at the URLs.

Worked on my home system today. As stated previously, everything is reporting its status correctly in MobiLinc but ISY hangs with several devices being unable to access. Rebooted ISY - no success Four ToggleLinc Relays (2466s) had to be soft reset, put into linking mode, updated and restored. Three Hidden Door Sensors (2485-222) had to receive the same treatment. One Leak Sensor required a new battery. The Admin Console is now loading correctly and all devices working correctly. My conclusion, either an electrical storm caused the problems or the PLM is failing. Will order a replacement PLM today just to err on the safe side. My biggest concern is that the Admin Console hung. Not that I could have resolved my problems remotely but had I not had MobiLinc I would have lost any control of the remaining operable devices. Kudos to MobiLinc.

Thanks, Michel. I will be working on this next Monday when I return home.
-
My thanks. We have 10 people and a dog in a small vacation home with one bathroom! I can barely think! I will get to this when things slow down.
-
I don't see how I can do that. When I open the Admin Console it locks up and I can do nothing but quit.

The IP for the LAN is Cox high speed. I am connecting using Suddenlink, another hight speed provider. Never had a problem previously. Started today. I have a couple of devices that are not responding. Perhaps that is what is causing the ISY to hang.. MobiLinc "sees" those devices but still allows signals to be sent to control the remaining devices. So, the problem appears to be exclusively with the ISY. I guess I will have to return home, reset the problematic devices and see if that restores the functionality of the ISY. Thanks for the help.

The connection is high speed cable. See last post re: Mobilinc working and Admin Console feezing.
-
Yes, I am away from my LAN. I have no firewall. The interesting thing to me is that MobiLinc is successfully connecting. I can connect to the ISY using the Admin Console but 3 devices display as inaccessible. I cannot access anything at the console level--it is frozen.
-
I am trying to access my ISY using its away IP. The Admin Console first displayed one device that it could not access and the screen froze. The only thing I could do was move the window reporting the status of the device. Exited and reloaded the Admin Console and two devices were reported inaccessible. I could move their window and nothing else. Did the same once more and three devices were displayed as inaccessible. I quit at that point! MobiLinc is successfully accessing the ISY but cannot control the devices the ISY is reporting as inaccessible. Sounds like I am going to have to wait until I can get onsite and reset two hidden door sensors and a device controlling a bathroom fan plus reboot the ISY. Any suggestions that I might try in the meantime?

I don't know if this will help, but I use it to tell me if a pump runs more than 5 minutes. Pump Not Off - [iD 0017][Parent 0021][Not Enabled] If Status 'Pump / Pump SynchroLinc' is 100% Then Wait 5 minutes Send Notification to 'Donnie Wheeler' content 'Wolf Creek Pump Did Not Turn Off' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Sends a notification if the pump turns on and runs for 5 minutes or more. This allows me to assess if a major problem exists and make a decision to turn the pump off using the Pump Controller (Outdoor Module).

I ran into that with a sensor that I changed the battery in. I set it in some water and the correct status displayed. You may want to give that a try. Don't forget to dry the contacts and press the button on the device to reset it.

Paul, I think you are correct. My memory vaguely tells me that controlling the heartbeat interval was not an option with that device. Yes, both devices are in areas where communications are stressed. The outbuilding is about 100 feet from the ISY and the front door sensor is in a location where linking was an issue when I set it up. I will probably replace the outbuilding unit with a tag if battery life on those can manage 5 months or so. I will either add a dual band device near the front door or use a tag. I am reluctant to add a dual band device and perhaps then learn that wasn't the problem. I can't use a hidden door sensor at the front door because of its design. Thanks for the help everyone.

I have put the device into linking mode. My problem is the next step. How do I get to the level where I have the option to make changes in settings? It appears I am going to have to delete, factory reset it and re-add. I don't want to do that if there is another way. Thanks.
-
I haven't done anything like this in a long time. Do I need to place the device in linking mode, delete it, then re-add it in order to get to the setup features?

To monitor door openings I use Hidden Door Sensors and TriigerLincs. The former use batteries sparingly even in highly trafficked areas. I change batteries in these on or about every 12 months. The TriggerLincs, however, in comparison are battery hogs. One of these devices is located on an outbuilding and the door was never opened for 5 months. Nevertheless, the battery did not last 4 months! The other is located on an entry door that sees a relatively low number of openings and the battery in it lasts just a few months. These are high quality lithium batteries, the same as those used in the hidden door sensors. The only thing I see that might contribute to this is the TriggerLincs constantly show a heartbeat in the ISY. Any help with this would be appreciated.

My thanks to both of you. When I arose this morning the program had run! So, it appears that dumb temperature span issue has once again bitten me. I sure hope Smarthome offers a more robust thermostat in the near future. One which reports degree by degree and a much better overall appearance. I will continue my testing of the programs. If this works effectively, it will be very helpful.
