The PLM Saga Continues
All the tabs properly display except for summary and details. I have no variables. Thus, only those sub tabs associated with the programs tab are dysfunctional.

The PLM Saga Continues
When I select the Programs Tab there are no programs listed.

- Disable any firewall & anti virus to see if this behavior is still present or fixed - Ensure the Java software is the latest release - Always ensure both UI & Firmware match under the AC Help -> About - Try opening the AC in another computer system to see if the same behavior is seen or not - Can't do - Programs: There are times where *Tight Loop* programs can cause the system to hang and this may cause different tabs to be missing or slow to load - What is the Upload / Download speed of the ISP at the remote site?? If its still using dial up or DSL it may be too low. - >70 mbps A reboot did not bring the programs back. I will know this evening is\f the programs are still running even though they are invisible in the ISY. Looks like I will just have to wait 4 months to get things set straight again. Thanks for all your attempts to help. Do you think UDI could possibly help if I ask them to remote in?

The PLM Saga Continues
Before I had opportunity to try this program all my programs disappeared again! I saved a backup with the former ISY software prior to the ISY software switch to the Z-wave version when all the programs were visible. Should I restore that backup? Will that resolve the problems with the battery devices? By the way, I tried the program on two separate battery devices and got the message "Bad Request".

Thanks, will try.

The PLM Saga Continues
I checked and none of the battery devices now show their status. : ( I would appreciate you guiding me in developing the program to try addressing these issues during heartbeat.
-
The PLM Saga Continues
Yes, I can still see all the programs plus all the battery devices show their correct status in the device tree. What would a program look like to update these devices during heartbeat? I will wait to see if the battery devices report before doing anything else.

Oops! I did this while away. Darn! Oh, well.

That is something I did not know. I will download and install that firmware and delete the JAVA cache.

The PLM Saga Continues
I rebooted the ISY from the Configuration Tab in the Admin Console. I then loaded the system from the Admin Console and the programs did not reappear. I waited a couple minutes, reloaded from the Admin console again and the programs were there! Thanks for the help. Now, if the PLM will survive for the next 4 months I will be able to change it. You guys are the best.

Thanks, Paul. Now, let's see what happens.

The PLM Saga Continues
Pardon me for missing something: Under the File menu in the Admin Console the only options I have are: Backup ISY Restore ISY Restore Devices Restore Modem Delete Modem There is no option to reboot the ISY remotely that I can find. I continued poking around and saw a Reboot button under the Configuration tab. Is that it?

The PLM Saga Continues
One of the "invisible programs" just ran and I received notification. That is a plus but I would feel far more comfortable if I could see them in the ISY.

The PLM Saga Continues
I will change the PLM as soon as I get there in 4 months. There is a "Restore ISY" option available under the File menu. Will executing that option affect the battery devices?

The PLM Saga Continues
If the new company, Smarthome, does not aggressively address this and other issues, I will do that as the need arises and the Zwave device is the more superior of the two. There are some devices I love, e.g., the KPLs, that have no Zwave equivalent. Plus, as I go down that path I am aware that device communications will be an issue. As I see it, the home automation game is significantly changing and competition is going to become more prevalent. The PLM is, to me, a no brainer and why Insteon has not addressed it astounds me. It is almost as if they were inviting erosion of a significant portion of their customer base.

The PLM Saga Continues
The firmware and ui are both 4.6.2 The PLM is itself a replacement which supposedly was more durable than its predecessor. The PLM is 26 months old. How do I remotely reboot the ISY????
-
The PLM Saga Continues
Yes, but my investment in Insteon is so large as to make that impractical.

The PLM Saga Continues
I have an ISY that is located more then 300 miles from my primary residence. A few day ago I stated getting erroneous multiple email messages from a hidden door sensor that the door had been opened. After that happened a couple of times, a program failed to run that reports temperature. I also had a SyncroLinc erroneously twice report that a well pump had run. Today, I accessed that ISY and saw that all the programs in the program tree had disappeared. It is evident that the PLM has died. This is no longer just a nuisance. It is for me a critical failure. I will not return to that location for 4 months! The fact that I have numerous battery powered devices makes replacement of the PLM something that my elderly handyman could not manage for me. Fortunately, I can, at this time, still access the device tree and manually execute important actions but whether or not any programs will continue to run is doubtful given that one did not run this morning. Of course, I am also concerned that the PLM will completely fail. Smarthome needs to address this issue now!!! We need a dependable PLM! I, for one, am sick and tired of reading over and over again about failing PLMs and experiencing my own failures. In situations such as mine where great distances are involved I can foresee where such failures could have consequences that result in more than mere nuisances. I know that UDI once wanted to produce a reliable PLM but Smarthome blocked that path. I encourage UDI to make that request once again. Teken, et al, I long ago endorsed the request for such a PLM but I have seen nothing that even suggests that Smarthome is doing anything to address that request.

Amazon Echo and ISY
My thanks to all. Will make the purchase and get started.

Amazon Echo and ISY
As you can tell by this post, I am slow to transition to new technology. I am now seriously considering adding the Echo, primarily for the purpose of controlling Insteon devices and programs using verbal commands. My question is this, have you found your system easy to set up but, more importantly, does it execute commands with few, if any, problems? I have KPLs at convenient locations around the house but there are times when my hands are full or I am seated, hat a verbal command would be very useful. I would appreciate your feedback.

Lamplincs Suddenly Unreliable
Stu: That was a great catch. The number of links is a limitation i had long since forgotten.

Lamplincs Suddenly Unreliable
I activated a bunch of LampLincs recently for Christmas. They are all part of the same scene. I have always found that one or more can be problematic therefore I programmed two on commands separated by 3 seconds and did the same for off commands. Only rarely will one of the devices fail to respond. I am at a loss to suggest what to do. Have you tried placing them in the scene and testing one at a time?

Water Pump Run Detection
I use the iolinc/relay approach and it has served me beautifully. My pump is 120v and I use an Insteon device to control the power to the relay. The location is a vacation home and, if the pump comes on when I am away, I get a notification. I then can cut the power to the relay and, thus, to the pump. I could automatically cut power to the pump using my ISY but I have decided to reserve that decision to myself.

Any mobile app other than Mobilinc
I have found Wes to be amazing in his responsiveness to problems. I am very happy with MobiLinc and have been for years.
