You would have to drill a hole deeper than the tongue of the deadbolt plus the length of the HDS. Without having one you may be past the doorframe stud and jack stud into the insulation of an outside wall. It would be hard to service when you need to check/change batteries.

Well I have one that wroks perfectly and a newer one that ISY can't control. So who knows what new jumble SH has come up with and not told anybody? The RMA was probably the best bet while the iron is hot.
-
I hope you attempted to force an update with a hair dryer or some hot breath on it before giving up on it. The 2441ZTH takes about 1.5 degrees before sending updates. Humidity sends on a cyclic timed basis. Longer on batteries than on AC power. Init to variables need to be set so that upon power cycling ISY it has a current/stale temperature to work with otherwise ISY assumes a 0 degree reading until the next temperature send.

Post your request for the time delay script character in the Feature Request section. I had suggested that some time back to accommodate MiLight controlling Network Resources needing a 100mSec delay. A special character sequence to accomplish that would have been perfect.

I don't have one. Mine was a question about it. There is brag about the API being so easy in you posted article link but I would be sure this API is about output from Echo only.
-
The excellent voice rendering of the Echo could be an awesome output for our ISY HA. Has anybody seen any progress on hacking into this API?

We notice a distinct difference in attitude between the two. Siri has mostly smart Alec retorts, whereas Alexa is much more polite.

ISY and Phillips Hue Integration Step-By-Step (For dummies...like me)

No MWester was correct. Apologies for misstating that. I forgot that extra hardware was required in answering your question and making those claims. V5 was available 6 months ago but not plug-in, stand-alone software. ISY is reported to probably not ever accept other software plug-in as it has no user style OS but only enough specialised OS to handle the ISY logic engine, and a few other related tasks, like drivers for comms, and user access. Think of a RPi as a second CPU that will become part of your ISY connected by an Ethernet port. They will act and become one multi-CPU environment. -

Here is a screen shot of NodeLink providing a plug-in, drop-in software module, with ISY v5.0.5, and my MiLight RGBW LED strips. This isn't a Hue bulb but there is no Insteon or Zwave native communications involved. "I don't see the difference! Do you see the difference?" -

Not at all. I was only referring to what was quoted in post #13. "once 5.0 comes out, it opens the door for software-only "plug-ins" that would allow a kind of native device usage of Hue bulbs" V5.xx does all that, plug-ins are available, especially Polyglot, that allow native looking usage of Hue bulbs. Having said that I don't use Polyglot yet, I do have Hue bulbs but I cannot post a screen shot of a Hue system device for you. Perhaps somebody with Hue/Polyglot can post a screen shot in this thread, or link, that is worth 1000 words. -
One thing I did notice some versions history back was that things worked better if I went into the java console and deleted all the optional module and not just the two, I believe the ISY Admin Console install does, it was more successful. Not so much that I noticed, for the AC hang but other problems. Having said that I am going to try my win 10 machine I haven't used for months and see if I note a difference. Trouble is some days I can use the admin console for hours and not have any trouble with it. Next day all the icons turn greyed out within a second of running it.

That all happened about six months ago. -

Yeah the long strange nic usually get everything behind the scenes too. You weren't an actor is a series of movies called "Liam Niesen I, II, & III" were you? -

The best laugh I had was Teken ranting about his nic being mispelled and then spelling yours incorrectly two sentences later. ROFL. When you set the bar make sure you have your drink ordered first. Me thinks they better get v5.0.5 out soon or the bored will burn this forum to bits...or at least down to bytes. -

Great idea! High tech nothing! Just get a battery operated megaphone from the junk store. Are you ready for the latest hack for "The Club"....? Now, hold the flared plastic horn against the window of your condo, press the button, and yell... . . . . "Alexa, Turn Off door locks!" Now watch for the confirmation ring pattern. Right Hudda Dudda? (who is huddaduda?) -
It just sounded like your tech support call went the wrong way and got distracted, preventing you from sending it back under warranty.

Latching and timing out are two opposite modes for a relay. If a relay mechanism latches it never times out. If a relay times out then it didn't latch. In post 41 you thought it was in latching mode.
-
Post 36 said latching didn't work. You can't have it both ways. Either it latches or times off.
-
It's probably the latching mode you need so the whole tech support statements were moot.
-
Before soldering always make sure you have a good mechanical connection and hopefully a good mechanical connection. If the wiring moves against the relay you can have solder tearing and broken solder joints, Solder is not a good conductor where any current is concerned but in micro electronics the effects are negligible. The automotive industry never solders connections which become become a hermetically sealed connection after the metal flows during the crimp and will outlast a solder joint anyday. In your case, you will have to solder and be quick about it or the holding plastic will melt. Don' try to use leadless solder! That is asking for problems. Cover with clear heatshrink, when done, to mechanically reinforce the joint.

I guess parts warehousers need to hire all their staff that have to commute a long way. Cheap delivery by employees getting mileage to go to work! -

In Canada we have semi-auto-piloted vehicles but we call them "trains". -
You're never wrong except when you stated that.
