Just an update on my generator purchase. I picked up a Generac XP10000E, plugged it into my 50a inlet and simultaneously powered everything on my breaker (all lights, 3.5 ton A/C, water heater, microwave, cooktop, and 2 refrigerators.) The only breakers I didn't turn on was the range and dishwasher. I was consuming about 8500 watts. All Insteon traffic worked, but was slightly delayed and there was some slight flickering on the keypad's LEDs and dimmer switch LEDs. All lights are CREE LED bulbs and didn't flicker. Once I turned off breakers to everything except the lights, I was only consuming about 500 watts. At this time the CREE LEDs would flicker on Insteon traffic. Turning off idle control helped the flicker. The unit is advertised with TruePower for under 5% THD. I though it would handle Insteon a little better than it did but I'm still happy, as long as I keep a little load on the genset.

This is the standby generator I am looking to get, or their Synergy series. All my lights are LED and all the switches are dimmers. Do you have any dimmer switches with dimmable LEDs, and if so do they work properly when on the Generac or do they flicker? Thanks, Christopher

Unbelievable. I received mine in June and apparently much older. Are you saying the v2.3 "should" no longer have the failing issue after 2 years? Would their support even have a changelog of the different revisions?

Hi Techman, PLM is a month old, replaced direct from smarthome. v2.2 1629. Previous one just failed. I have two motion sensors, which I don't even use for anything so if that could be a problem I could easily get rid of them. They also have new batteries which were replaced last week. I checked my surveillance and no motion was occurring when this happened. Only after the fact was a motion sensor triggered. ISY v4.5.4. Thank you for the Wiki MWareman. Looks like I will review everything to make sure I do not have any programs that control and run a scene. I don't believe so but I'll double check. Would there be a reason why not all my devices responded to the ALL ON? One of the devices responded was a Dual ON/OFF outlet, which I believe is pretty new compared to a lot of their other devices. Is there any way to turn this function off? Was there a purpose smartlabs did this, and if the newer devices have this turned off, will they RMA old devices to avoid this? Regarding the garage, does anybody know of a IP module that could control the garage that I could use with the networking module? And the garbage disposal is not added to ISY or linked to the PLM, so could that still respond to an ALL ON? Thanks!

Hi all, I just had a random event in which a bunch of devices in my house turned on when my daily landscape lights scene was triggered at sunset. Every sunset my outside lights turn on, but today at the exact same time these lights turned on, 10 random lights/fans in my house responded and also turned ON. This is a little frustrating because I checked the logs and there are no entries that show these devices were ever turned on, and I suspect the state of these devices in the ISY were still recorded as being OFF, even though they turned on. I attached a screenshot with further explanation. I wasn't even around to physically trigger any of these devices, and I checked all my surveillance cameras and all these random devices did turn ON at the exact same time when my landscape lighting scene turned on at its scheduled time. I'd also like to mention that these random devices that all responded are not part of a common scene. My wife is flipping out about the reliability (especially that something like this could open/close my garage or turn on a garbage disposal), as this has happened in the past, and I have no idea where to begin on stopping this from happening. Thanks, Christopher

Has anybody had any luck weatherproofing the Insteon open/close sensor? I have one outdoors and it has been going for a year but now died. I'm going to buy a new one but wanted ideas on making it weatherproof. I took an HDTV for my patio and covered the motherboard and powerboard with several coats of CRC Urethane Seal Coat and it has been going strong for 4 years now. I was thinking of doing the same or using some dielectric grease.

I ended up deleting the device that the REC file was associated with. Then re-added the device. That seemed to do the trick for now.
-
Is it possible that the backup has links in its database to that missing 38828f.REC file so even a restore wouldn't fix it?
-
Just did a restore, but seeing an error for that same exact file: https://screencast.com/t/beP6IV7MN
-
Now when I log into the ISY I get an error that it cannot load the file I now deleted. https://www.screencast.com/t/RGHiCFoKN Also, I cannot rename the root of my tree within the console: https://www.screencast.com/t/gF55SbkL

Perfect, THANK YOU!

I am trying to do a backup of the ISY but about 81% through the process I get a "Could Not Retrieve File /CONF/38828f.REC" error. and then another error after that of "Cloud Not Create the Zip File". Here is a screenshot: https://www.screencast.com/t/oM0CKJbrTC Any suggestions on what is causing this?

ISY has a static IP and so is my IP assigned from my ISP. Haven't touched anything network or ISY and wasn't home when it went offline. I'll contact them via that form, thank you.

Under Configuration > Portals, my Portal Integration has been showing offline. When I log into my.isy.io it says my ISY is "Offline since Thursday, January 26th, 12:11:15 AM". I noticed this when my Echo stopped working. Is the portal integration down?

I too would like to see some native integration between the Harmony hub series remotes and the ISY. I am currently using IR over Ethernet to reach the network rack where my ISY sits. I absolutely HATE the IR method because with all of my A/V equipment, there are some IR commands that are triggering the ISY IR, so I have to disable about 5 of the ISY IR Code, leaving me with only 35 available IR commands.

Try shooting Phil Kingery, from ACT, an email. He was selling a bunch of the AF120 filters at an extremely low price last year as they were liquidating all their inventory. He had a TON of the AF300's available. x10.pcc.act (at) gmail dot com

Hate to bring up such an old thread, but I was having the exact same issue when hurricane Matthew hit a few weeks ago. I fired up the generator and all the lights would flicker when there was Insteon traffic. It was very frightening seeing the entire house flicker at the same time. I was worried something could have been damaged so I immediately shut it off. Generators have a THD (total harmonic distortion) rating but I could not find one for my Coleman Powermate and the manufacturer doesn't even know. I'm sure it's around the 10% range, possibly even more. Portable Inverter generators have minimal distortion because they have a stepped sine wave, and some portable inverter generators produce a pure sine wave, but they are very expensive and do not handle a lot of wattage that I would need for the house. Does anybody have any experience running a generator with Insteon? I'm wondering if a generator that advertises a THD of 5% or less would play happy with Inteon?
-
Lets just agree that the current 10% is not enough Maybe one day we could say "Dim the lights a lot" or "Dim the lights a little". I believe the echo already responds to "turn up the volume a lot", or "turn down the volume a little", so maybe one day this can be done with the lights.

I'm having the same issues. Portal doesn't work and shows offline from my.isy.io. Will an occasional reboot need to occur as more servers are added or is this just a one-off event?
-
Today my Echo started saying "The device ___ is not responding. Please check its network connection and power supply." The portal says it is offline within the web interface: http://screencast.com/t/QCAG5KYHmeY The java interface shows it as online: http://screencast.com/t/MdWi36zJsE

What thermostat are you guys using? I have my thermostat controlled through the Echo but I am not using the ISY portal because Nest has it's own skill and I can raise and lower the temperature without the thermostat switching from cool to heat. The last thing I need in Florida is for my heat to kick on to simply raise the temp one degree.

Successfully linked ISY-Echo in one home. Fail in another.

Awesome! I think that will alleviate a lot of the confusion. -

Thanks Michel, that did the trick. I wish the language of the popup was a little more clear because it seems more like and error than just a noted warning. -
It will not automatically discover all the devices on the ISY. You must add those devices from the portal and give them a spoken name. Here is the instruction from the wiki: "Under Select Tool choose Connectivity | Amazon Echo and enter mappings between your devices, scenes, and programs to their associated and desired spoken names." Not very thorough, but once you are there you will see buttons at the top for Scene, Device, and Program. Click on what you would like to add, then from the drop-down select the respective item you want to add, and then in the text fields below add you spoken name(s).

I wanted to avoid this because activating a scene is faster than running a program, but this suggestion will work, thank you. That is correct, but the ISY does know when a scene has been controlled, therefore it could be possible to have an IF condition based on the CONTROL of a scene if UDI were to add this. This is what I do for some of my scenes, but since this scene does not have devices that are specific to this scene, or a dedicated button for this scene it would not work. Thank you everybody for the confirmation that running a program would be the best course of action.
